About 18 miles from either Lafayette or Crawfordsville, IN stations-if I want to take nearly 4 hours to get to Chicago, which is a 2.5 hour drive. Its frustrating to ride at 79 mph for a while, then 60, then 10 or so for miles getting through the south side of Chcago. Years ago the trip from Lafayette was 2.5 hours, now I believe schedule is over 3 hours if no delays.

About 30 miles to Bellingham WA for Amtrak -- but only 8k (5m) to the nearest VIA or West Coast Express commuter station.

20 miles to Los Angeles; 30 to Fullerton. [#ditto] regarding parking (It's $10. at Los Angeles). If I am riding Metrolink on the weekend, I go to Los Angeles in spite of the parking.

At home, 30 miles to Pittsburgh
At school, 25 miles to Tyrone, 30 to Huntingdon, and 40 to Altoona. Altoona is the closest I'd actually use though.

Within walking distance of Philadelphia's 30th Street Station, the greatest and most beautiful of all Amtrak big-city stations (though LAUPT is great).

Six miles from Amtrak at the Greensburg,Pa. station. It was also restored by the local historical society a few years back. It is home to a resteraunt / micro brewery & offices. The nearest commuter service is the Port Authority Transit lightrail operation in Pittsburgh, about 25 miles away. There has been discussion among local governments about bringing back heavy rail service to Greensburg to the east & New Kensington to the north. Good luck and stay safe.

About 5 miles (Alexandira, VA) but usually just go to Union Station in DC (a little bit further - Take Metro - save $) to catch Amtrack. For northbound travel, the trains would change locomotives in DC, so you would sit for an hour or two. Just easier to catch the train there.

When I am home I have 3 Amtrak Stations I can use. All are on the NEC
1.) Providence Rhode Island about 8 miles
2.) Route 128 Canton, Mass about 15 miles
3.) South Station Boston about 35 miles

Right now I am about 9,000 miles away in Kharkiv Ukraine about 25 miles from the Russia border. I would love to be back watching corridor action!

Depends on where I am in the city of Syracuse NY. From my house, I'm about 5 minutes from the "old" Amtrak station in East Syracuse (also near west end of CSX's DeWitt Yard). To the "new" station, about 10-15 minutes depending on which route I take to get there.

Hunter - When we met in January of 2000, you were just a 6 week old pup who walked his way into this heart of mine as the only runt in the litter who would come over to me. And today, I sit here and tell you I am sorry we had to put you down. It was the best thing for you and also the right thing to do. May you now rest in peace and comfort. Love, Dad. 8 June 2010

I love you and miss you Mom. Say hi to everyone up there for me. Rest in peace and comfort. Love, John. 29 March 2017

I'm about 25 or so miles from the St. Louis Missouri station (equates to about a 45 minute ride on the Metrolink), although, I do prefer to drive the 40 miles to the east to get on the City of New Orleans at Centralia IL as opposed to the Texas Eagle in St. Louis. Number 58 (northbound City of New Orleans) runs through Centralia at about 4:10 am. The northbound Texas Eagle reaches St. Louis between 10 am to 10:30 am. Being that I like to get an early start when I travel (and I like avoiding the crowds on the Metrolink or roads) I always get on in Centralia. Additionally, 58 has better on time performance from what I've seen. The one time I tried taking the Texas Eagle, it was running 3 hours behind.

Wasn't sure Indianapolis still had Amtrak service. They built the new spur here in
Louisville just over a year ago,and now we no longer have Amtrak service.(Louisville Union,
Station, about 20 blocks from our house) I guess the next closest one is Cininniatti,
or maybe Nashville[:)]
