....I just heard part of the story today on radio....and something that the train was about 4 hrs. late and arrived after midnight at that location and then only did a slow pass through there, etc....I don't know why it didn't stop if there were people waiting there but one thing I do know....Rush Limbaugh was milking it to no end today and playing it for all it was worth....One would think [by hearing his almost panic criticism on it], that he had complete control of it.......I have not heard why the decision to roll through the previous planned stop was not honored. Sounds like someone really goofed.

At La Junta where the train did stop, the DEM's said it was met by 10,000 people, the Denver papers say 5000 and the locals say they were lucky to get maybe 3000. (The town itself is less than 8500)....I wonder if Lawrence has three different stories as well...

An oops or somebody's "spin" on events....?

Sounds like the UP dispatcher got pissed and told them they had no time to stop (I'm sure you've read UP is conjested already). I heard this news break on Rush Limbaugh's show, I almost called today. That young man in college was quite aggrivated.

One thing is for sure...it won't be Kerry's fault. From his track record(no pun intended), he probably had ordered the train to stop and not stop in the same directive.

Wayne,

Not opinion, just speaking from his past stances. My reply was to the "who goofed?" question in the thread title. BTW, if the question had been about Bush, I still would have said "one thing for sure...it's not Bush's fault". Never is the main man's fault. You should be old enough to know that.

no, he'll problably just have Edwards sue the owner of the car, the company that made it, the workers who made it, and anyone else they can think of.

Jay,
If the moderators here want to provide a forum for political debate, I'd be happy to debate you, point for point on any sound-bite barbs you care to throw out, offering up countless examples of flip-flops on the opponent's record also.

However, I'm sure the moderators would rightly put an end to it, political discussions clearly not being what this forum was created for. We all have our political opinions, some just have the courtesy and good sense of not throwing them in where they don't belong.

If you feel this is the proper place for expressing your political opinions and the moderators concur, so be it. It would be sad to see a perfectly good forum ruined in this way.

Oh, I get it now. This forum IS for Kerry bashing. And not an intelligent idea worth debating.

Sad.

I thought you people were in favor of "Free Speech", just exercising my amendment given rights. Muddy Creek, all I see you doing is trying to suppress us, if you want to debate an "intelligent idea", start comming up with some reasons why we should not imform the public (on this forum) why he isn't worthy of the office of the President of the United States.

I don't want to get anything started here, but I agree with above, and thought we did have some "rights"

And I'm telling you,if you had access to the e-mail I got from my sis today, you wouldn't
even have to think twice.[:)]

Lamar, CO (60 miles east of La Junta) had 130 on the platform as it went by in the early hours of the morning. (Stayed in the Lamar area about 3 hours)

WooHoo, maybe all 150 people that came out to see him will vote for him! That man is not a leader, if he was a leader, he'd be in the cab of the locomotive, not in the caboose or "tail car".

Wayne,

I agree, this site should be about trains and railroading. As stated before, I was answering the "who goofed" question. You are the one who personalized the attack at me in the 17:36 post and now to all in the 19:12 post.

No need to debate because it seems your mind is already made up. I am neither Republican or Democrate but Liberterian/independent. BTW, the jibjab video seemed to equally bash both major candidates and made for a very funny clip.

Now back to railroading. Who do you think goofed in the nonstop at Lawrence, KS?

Forgive me, I was wrong. I thought this forum was about trains. Turns out it is a forum for your first amendment rights to free speech. I trust you also interject your political opinions in church services, town board meetings, the checkout line at the local market, children's hour at the local library, anywhere you wi***o exercise your "amendment given rights."

I still maintain that this is an inappropriate place for political debate though looking through the forum info I find that perhaps I was assuming too much. There seems to be no mention of what is appropriate here.

There are plenty of political forums where intelligent discussion takes place and that's where I prefer to participate. This forum is where I thought I simply enjoy discussions of trains. You have shown me I was wrong.

Well it is your right to use this forum as you wish. So throw out your little partisan barbs to your heart's content. Questions of appropriateness aside, there is little point in responding to posts where nothing of substance is said.

[Jay, I responded to your post alluding to the "flip-flop" charges that come from his opponents camp. You opened the door with your comment.]

Had enough. Off to a train forum, now. Good bye. Don't forget to vote.

....Personally, I like the railroad stuff on here better.....I believe we all realize the support for candidates from both parties is pretty solid and about even at this point and very little undecided still out there...and little that is said on here is going to influence one side to the other....

I trust you also interject your political opinions in church services No, my church had a hippocrit preacher and it was busted up. town board meetings, No, I don't live in town the checkout line at the local market, No children's hour at the local library, I don't live in town and the closest one doesn't have a library anywhere you wi***o exercise your "amendment given rights." ONLY WHEN I'M RIGHT.

People wouldn't make any political comments if nobody made POTENIALY POLITICAL POSTS!!! The defense rests, and let this topic recede from the main board.
