As a railroad celebration it is a sad shadow of its former self, back when BN, ATSF, Amtrak, GE, EMD, and Amtrak virtually competed to see who could have the nicest display, Metra had train rides, and steam locomotives would from time to time be on display as well. The railroad museums at Union and Monticello also brought in stuff, and the unions would have tents with railroaders to talk to. It is all different now. Last year even Kalmbach bailed and did not send the usual tent with free magazines. But Galesburg remains a great railfanning town and the model train show is still worth taking in.
So I'll be there Friday to Monday. Anyone else going? See you at the depot platform.
