jeffhergertHe made the comment that there wasn't a peanut to be found in the bowl of mixed nuts
Ha! Lucky for me I can obtain that myself at the local Central Market food store run by HEB. They have 2-3 walls of nuts and nut mixtures. :) I think if your going to serve mixed nuts and load them up with almonds and peanuts it is a ripoff as well. Kroger does that.
Lithonia OperatorI'm astounded how long that train is.
I rode a Via Rails Canadian in the '90s that had a baggage car, 2 coaches, a Skyline car, 18 sleepers, 3 diners, 3 Skyline Domes, (Three groups of 3 sleepers, diner, skyline, 3 sleepers) and a Park Dome observation car for a total of TWENTY NINE cars. Back in the fifties saw a few PRR "mail" trains that were in the passenger timetable but were primarily mail and express but had a coach for passengers and around Christmas ran up to 24 or 25 cars.

In the late 50's and early 60's B&O's Capitol Limited would routinely be 20 to 25 cars out of Chicago and then pick up cars from the Detroit originated Ambassador at Willard to continue on to Washington. When making its station stop at Garrett with the engines stopped at the 'water stop' to get water for the steam generators, the rear of the train would block Randolph Steet - the main N-S street in town.
Never too old to have a happy childhood!
In the same vein, Amtrak's Chicago-Philadelphia "Pennsylvanian" usually ran with one baggage car, 2 coaches, a snack-bar coach, 5-7 express boxcars and 10-15 RoadRailers.
Then of course, there is the venerable Amtrak AutoTrain.
