Good Monday morning everyone.  Currently, here in Louisville, we have a temp of 67 degrees, with cloudy skies.  Rain should be here shortly.  Hopefully!!  I hope you all had a very good evening, and ready to start a brand new week.

Coffee, juices and other morning beverages are fresh and ready to go.  On the serving station this morning:  bagels, bear claws, turkey bacon, scrambled eggs, oatmeal and toast.

I'm not sure if I'll be around again until later this afternoon, as I have a meeting to go to.  Need to call later on, to check on the time, as the letter I have states the times as 12 a.m. to 4 p.m. on it.  I think that is a typo, as who would be up at midnight to go to a meeting. This meeting is for seniors, and disabled persons, so I am guessing that the time is supposed to be 12 p.m. until 4 p.m., but I'm going to call and make sure.

Guess what:  just looked out the front door, and it is raining!!  Yea!!!!!  Looks like it is a nice,, gentle rain, no gully washer.

Everyone have a great morning, and I'll see you all sometime this afternoon.

Good morning. 72 degrees and cloudy in Carolina, headed for 81 and thunder later so they say.
That means I've gotta disconnect the wireless and rotors again..... I have had my flu shot, but the past two days, I have woke up with flu-like symptoms. I hope that's not a sign of things to come.

Everyone have a great day

.....And we have a bright overcast morning....and still very mild.  63 was the low earlier this morning.   Unusual for this late in October.  Don't know about rain....Looks like most of weather is going just south of us and the direction is north east.

Noted some bad stuff down in Texas....Tornado activity supposedly.  And it looks like the area around Atlanta has weather around it....

Hope all get off to a good start for the new week.

Walt brought our flags in from outside; we're supposed to have some gusty winds and rain sometime later tonight and in the morning.  At least we're not smelling the smoke anymore from the fires to the south of us.

Meeting didn't go too well, have to go again Thursday to a different location.  All this, after sitting around in a stuffy, very warm hallway for two and a half hours.

Leftovers from yesterday's Chinese Sunday Dinner, along with some Sloppy joes w/your choice of fries or baked tater and choice of salad or slaw.

Everyone have a good evening, take care and see you all tomorrow.

Well, we did get snow early this morning--and it was not just flurries out here in the valley. It looked to me something like two inches (the sidewalks and streets were already pretty well cleared when I went out at eight this morning). I understand that Snowbird had about a foot and a half (open for skiing by Thanksgiving?), and the benches had their share. One area on the east side had such winds that trees were damaged, and many places had no electric power.

The sun is shining brightly as it sinks toward the west.

Stay warm and dry.

Wow - a couple of days in the Punkin Patch and a day to recover and look at all I missed!

Made the trip down to the railroad on Friday, so I wouldn't have to leave at Oh-dark-thirty to get there on time.  Snow flurries in the air as I hit the sack - about an inch and a half on the ground by 2:00 AM when two of our crew finally hit town.

I was moving snow off the tracks with the track car (dump truck) as I ventured out to the site of the "Punkin Patch" to set up on Saturday morning.  The first batch of visitors had to watch their step in the snow.  By noon most of the snow was gone.

The Sunday "patch master" wasn't feeling well, so I ran the patch on Sunday, too.  Glad I had all four sides for the canopy/tent and a heater as well.  Made the day to a little better.

A shot I wish I'd gotten earlier in the day, when it was a little brighter and there were wisps of fog/clouds hanging over the hills:

I had to shoot it in extreme telephoto using the photo feature on my video camera as the train was about 3/8 mile from me.  Still a neat shot...

Smilelarry ;  you are right  ~ that is a neat shot. The telephoto  does strange things. In front of the engine the rails are melting. Further down hte rails are shivering. A once in a life time shot.~~~ Sometimes 3 letter words are hard to put in order,    (  The )

Good Tuesday morning everyone.  Starting the morning out with a temp in the low 70s, believe the current temp is about 73 degrees.  No a whole lot of wind yet, but it is coming our way, from the west.  We're supposed to have some pretty good winds blowing about the time we hopefully are getting through with Produce this morning, and waiting for the Bread truck.  Might have some heavy storms rolling through, also.

From the looks of the radar, on our 5 a.m. news/weather, things looks pretty nasty all the up to and above Chicago, with tornado watches.  We have a tornado watch until about 11, noon time today for our area.

Coffee, juices and other morning beverages are fresh and ready to go.  On the serving station this morning:  bagels, bear claws, turkey bacon, scrambled eggs, oatmeal, and toast.  (No sausage, need to do a grocery run.)

Larry, that was a fantastic picture you managed to get!  You should think about entering that in a photo contest.

Everyone have a good morning, if you're in the path of these storms, batten down the hatches, and keep yourself save!!  And we'll try to do the same around here.

Tree - great photo!  That would be great to see live.  And hear!

Weather pretty much missed us.  If we had moisture overnite, it was the quiet kind and since we are still in the very high 40's, it wasn't snow.  Unfortunately east and west of us won't fare as well.  All people and chickens should stay out of the mountains for a few days....

Mookie

That would be great to see live.  And hear!

Because the Pumpkin Patch was literally out in the woods (albeit at Carter Station), there was no sound competition other than the wind and an occasional hunter's truck on the former roadbed of the Raquette Lake Railroad.  Thus I could often hear the oncoming F chugging along 4 or more miles away, climbing the hill to Moulin.  I could almost always hear them blow for all four crossings along the way.

The "stone" gatehouse kept me warm and dry!  Especially Saturday morning, with the snow.

The kids and adults enjoyed the patch, at any rate.

The synergy of the roadbed and the springs on the cars and locomotive created an interesting effect as the train left.  It's slightly downgrade, so the engine was idling, so I could hear what sounded like periodic hisses as the train rolled south - reminding me of a steam engine coasting along.

Looking dry for today, which is good, since I'm trying to get the "stone" wrap from the gatehouse dried out.  Sounds like we might be in for it later in the week, though.

...saw Durango & Silverton's version of what Tree was doing (tied to Charlie Brown's "The Great Pumpkin" festival) in Durango. Tree's F-Unit was a little more classy than diesel mouse #11 pulling 6 coaches out to Hermosa and back from Durango. All you heard all day was the horn on Mouse #11 and the straining of the small diesel engine in downtown Durango...Steam was running to Silverton, but it almost was dark in Durango to see it coming or going.

Paid a visit to winter and almost didn't get home yesterday after yesterday's storm in the high country. Found 3 Darwin award candidates way up on Red Mountain Pass (Durango-Silverton-Ouray) in between the tunnel and the snowshed on motorcycles in a raging snowstorm, (6" on highway US-550 and the plows were out but not keeping up)...4WD, chains and low gear were the order of the day. Later, Monarch Pass on US-50 was not much better. Wind was pushing snow up the mountain.

Mudchicken Nothing is worth taking the risk of losing a life over. Come home tonight in the same condition that you left home this morning in. Safety begins with ME.... cinscocom-west

Well, we managed to get Produce taken care of, without any of us blowing away (the wind kept up a steady strong beat the entire time).  Now we are getting all kinds of severe thunderstorm warnings, tornado watches and warnings to the west of us, coming our way.  Tornado watches are until 4 p.m. for our area.

I've laid out some sandwich fixings for lunch, and if I can make it back in later, I'll start the Tuesday Mexican Fiesta.

Everyone have a safe afternoon and take care.  Later!

Sir C - so glad to see you back in the real world!  Did you see CW McCall?  Mischief

We got wind today and tomorrow, but at 60 and very sunny, it is pretty nice.  Would be a beautiful day if quiet, but no snow, so we will take it.

This has {is}, been a rather wild weather day for the midwest wide spread area.  The line of weather {not very thick}, passed here west to east about 10:30 this morning and I just noted it's over near the Wheeling, Wv. area already.

In some areas it was moving 70 mph.  Here we were showered for a short time and to my surprise it was one inch in my rain gauge....

Wind of course, as that has been wide spread over a vast area and tornado warnings were up all around our Indiana area.  I'm sure we have trees and perhaps some other things down, but right here we had no damage.  Gusts in the area 45 - 60, and reports of some at 70 mph.

Now, it's bright sunshine and weird cloud formations....Several types of clouds and at different elevations, and going in several different directions.  Certainly blowed leaves {in all directions}.....

We really can use the rain, but hope we didn't have much damage in our area....That's not known yet.

Wind advisory until 8 pm.

I'm sure we were more fortunate than some areas.  That we'll hear about a bit later.

Right after I posted earlier, and got off the computer, we heard the sirens go off:  we (Metro Louisville) were under a tornado warning.  They did have a funnel cloud sighting at the McAlpine Locks and Dam.  But it didn't touch down, just went back up into the clouds.  Policeman in the area confirmed it.  We got lots of wind and blowing rain.  Walt went out, after everything cleared up, and we only had a half inch of rain in the rain guage.

We have a small Mexican Fiesta on the serving station:

Tacos, burritos, Spanish rice, quesadillas, enchildadas, fajitas, chimichangas.  And, if anyone wants any, we also have tortilla chips and your choice of dips:  picante, salsa, and con queso.

Everyone have a good evening and take care.

...Update to earlier post on wild weather:  At the 6 pm news cycle, we did see plenty of damage in surrounding areas here in Indiana.

Lots of bulidings blasted with either straight line, or tornado winds tearing them apart.  Looks like by tomorrow we'll see plenty of damage reported in our state.

The one inch in our rain gauge surprised me...The front blasted thru with winds blowing the rain squawls totally horizonal....But it lasted just 15 or 20 min.  I don't know how much wind velocity maxed out to yet.  The line of storms was moving fast....!

Our local Tornado warning sirens touched off twice mid morning.

We {personally}, did not see any major damage here at home.  Did blow our recycle blue container over across the street and slightly west....The storm was coming from the southwest....

We're getting the northern end of that system.  Some wind (20 mph gust on my weather station so far), and the rain should arrive shortly, but it doesn't appear that we'll be seeing anything severe.

That's good.  I'd rather not spend the night chasing trees and wires down.

Good Wednesday morning everyone.  Mookie, Joe's #2, and  I'm #3.  Coffee is just about finished brewing, fresh juices are made, and have hot water for hot cider, tea, or instant coffee.

On the serving station this morning:  bagels, bear claws, turkey bacon, sausage, scrambled eggs, homemade buttermilk biscuits w/sausage gravy.  Or there is some hot oatmeal and toast, if you'd rather have that.

Our current temp if 53 degrees, going for a projected high of 74 today, and breezy this afternoon.

Everyone have a good morning, take care, and see you all later.

Five, by the looks of it.

Sunny, and a bit cooler today by the looks of it.  And dry, at least for a while, which is good, I have some work to do in the yard.

Time to get cracking!

Good morning, and it looks like I number 6. 75 degrees and cloudy in Carolina. They say we may get some strong storms later in the day.

I would like to say, and I am unanimous in this, that I am sick of politics, political ads and the sort of riff raff what runs in those circles. More than one local idiot has made a fool of himself on the news lately and I welcome Nov 3rd!

Everyone take care
