Good Wednesday morning everyone, and Chris May, wherever you are, Happy Birthday! Happy B-Day Happy B-Day

Walt, I couldn't help laughing at your reply to Mudchicken!!  Still chuckling over it, as a matter of fact.

Coffee, juices and other morning beverages are fresh and ready to go.  Regular breakfast fare is on the serving station, so you all can help yourselves, as usual.

By this time this evening (6:40 p.m.), we should be getting some decent rain here!!  I surely do hope so.  It won't be enough to help  the drought conditions, but it should be enough to ease all the allergy sufferers!

Everyone have a very good morning, keep safe, take care, and if anyone has any requests for today, let me know.

Our morning so far, has been partly sunny....and now, temps in the mid 60's.  Not complaining.  But still seriously dry.

Do like the bit of a rally in the Market this morning.

And of course, God bless all the people who have made it possible the rescue of the Miners, now taking place down in Chile.  We sure hope it continues until all the Miners and rescue workers are all up on the surface.

Watched late last night up to where they had pulled several of the workers up and out of that amazing rescue shaft.  I remember very vividly the rescue of 9 for 9 over in Quecreek, Pa. very near our home area back about 8 years ago.  It was done in a similar manner, but depts was at 240 ft.  But there, the Miners were faced with the danger of water overcoming their site underground, and other serious problems too....But great congratulations to those who engineered both rescue sites and operated and operating the special equipment.

Lets hope the current rescue process continues to operate as it is until all are out of that imprisonment site....

Gee, it's been awfully slow in here today.  People must either be out enjoying the coolness, or 'playing possum'.  Anyway, I have fixed something for the rest of the afternoon and evening, and hope it is satisfactory with everyone:

You'll find on the counter, a couple of Crock Pots w/beef stew and vegetable beef soup in them.  There are signs letting you know which is which.  There's also some baked cornbread, also marked either sweet or unsweetened.  Figured that will be a good fit for today.  No rain yet, but should be here in about two or three hours.  It looks like it could start anytime, and it is nice and cool outside.

Everyone enjoy, have a good afternoon, take care, and see you all later.

P.S.  If I didn't say so this morning, Happy Birthday, Chris!!

It's a beautiful day in the neighborhood - sunny and mid-sixties.

Loved lunch - and I've come to really like cornbread for some reason.

Headed out for dinner shortly, along with a visit to a hospitalized cousin.  Joining another cousin or two of mine and a cousin of Mom's for dinner in Mexico (New York) tonight.  Mom heads back to AZ tomorrow, but I think she's mostly packed already.  It'll be lunch with her great-grandson before I drop her off at the airport.

I'm busy packing for the pumpkin trains this weekend.  They'll be quite the production, and it looks like the weather will be just peachy!

Looking kinda damp on Friday - not a good thing for the outside portion of our fire prevention program at the elementary school.

Well, we finally got some rain yesterday evening.  Haven't been out to check our rain guage, but the official reading is 1/4 inch of rain last night.  Had some nice lightning, along with some thunder, and steady downpour of rain from around 6 to 8:30 p.m.  Even heard some hail (I was upstairs doing my exercises, so didn't actually see it). This morning we have a current temp of about 52 degrees, and should top out this afternoon in the low to mid 60s.

Coffee, juices and other morning beverages are ready to go.  Regular breakfast menu is on the serving station.

Everyone have a good morning, take care and see you all later.

Amazing....Finally, we got some rain {yesterday}....badly needed.  We received 3/4" during the afternoon.

Item:

The miracle of rescue down in Chile has been completed with 100% perfect results.  The Co. {Center Rock Inc.}, that provided the "hammer style drill heads", used to create the bore hole that made the rescue possible, is located just  a short distance from our home in Pennsylvania, {Berlin}.  Brandon Fisher, president....was visible in much of the video right at the site.

This small Co's. profile rose as they pitched in back in 2002, at near by Quecreek mine {9 for 9}, just a short distance away, with a similar rescue.  That bore needed for that rescue went down 240 ft.  But there was a rising water danger getting to the miners before they possibly could be rescued, hence, the pressure was on to get the rescue bore located, and then, get it down to the cavity the miners were thought to be in.  And that effort resulted in 100% success too.

Another slow day in here.  You all trying to MIFF THE COOK?!?!

If anyone is in here this evening, there is Sloppy Joes on the serving station warmer bar, along with hamburger buns, and some pickle slices to go on the Sloppy Joes:  sweet slices and sour slices.

We managed to get our oven fixed today.  Had to have a new igniter put in it.

I did check our rain gauge earlier, and we got a total of one half inch  of rain yesterday evening/night.

Everyone have a good evening, and see you all later.

Rain, rain, GO AWAY.

I've got too much outside stuff going on to have to deal with rain.

We're up to 1/4" on the day, so far.  Rain in the forecast for tomorrow.  I hope the weatherguessers are wrong.

Got Mom on the plane home today, so my life can return to some semblance of normal.  Didn't mind her being here one bit, but it's trying having to deal with the change in routine.

Back to preps for the fire prevention program at the school and the pumpkin trains on Saturday and Sunday.

Good Friday morning everyone.  Larry, looks like you're going to be having a busy, busy Saturday to 'celebrate' your birthday!  I'll save a Hawaiian pizza, specially for you, when you make it back in tomorrow night/Sunday!  And I'll go ahead and wish you a Happy B-Day Happy Birthday a day early.  There's a bear claw waiting for you, with a candle in the center of it (candle not lit yet)!

Coffee, juices and other morning beverages are fresh and ready to go.  On the serving station this morning:  turkey bacon, sausage, scrambled eggs, bagels, bear claws.

Everyone have a good morning, take care and see you later.

Peace be with you. 44 degrees in Carolina before sunrise. Gonna go to around 80 later. I have been spending a lot of time on the wireless, and have had my schedule all messed up, so haven't made it in here for the past few days now.  I looked in the mirror last night, and Wolfman Jack looked back, so it's to the barber after my quack appointment later today.

Everyone have a great Friday

Then consider that the Colorado Drilling Co and the Denver native that were the drillers too....Plus the rig and the bits were flown to Chile by UPS (FOR FREE)

The driller, after some time off, goes back to Afghanistan to drill water wells for the Army (where the natives aren't quite so nice)

Thanks for the early birthday wishes!  Gonna be on the railroad all weekend - leaving this afternoon and back Sunday night.  Hopefully things dry out and we don't get any of that SNOW that's in the forecast...

We're up to .65" of rain since this last stuff started.  It's related to the Nor'easter running up the coast, but we aren't seeing the wind.

Almost time to go back and wrap up the fire prevention presentations.

Sounds like CopCar is in my area - wonder if he's wandering this far east?

Also, my niece in Florida tells me she understands that Oakley donated the $200 sunglasses.

The Chileans are not ashamed to accept help from outside their country; I am glad that so many from our country were able to help these men get home.

Happy birthday, Larry!Happy B-Day May the day come back many more times, with joy, each time.

We have early morning temperatures in the forties, and they rise to about seventy. No rain for several days, but we have the promise a shower or two on the weekend.

I at last finished buttoning the swamp cooler up this week, taking the cover up to the roof and putting it on. I also put the plug into the storm door so it holds  air better (I have to make sure it closes when I go out since it is now so heavy that the closer sometimes stops before the door is fully to). There's not another door like it anywhere. When I replaced the old door eleven years ago, Ricki wanted one with a window that could be opened so the door itself would not have to be opened at Halloween (to keep Buddy from bothering children); I could not find one, so I made one.

There is a little bit of a Friday Fish Fry on the serving station.  Some fried fish, different kinds of bread for fish sandwiches, fries (regular and curly), cole slaw and garden salad.

Everyone enjoy your afternoon, and take care.

Good Saturday morning everyone.  We're starting out with a temp of 45 degrees here in Louisville, at 7:08 a.m.  Supposed to get up to between 71 and 75 for a high today.

The Louisville Water Company is celebrating a birthday today:  150 years old.  They are going to have a celebration at the water tower, conducting tours, and let people see things that they have never let people see before, as to the workings, including the old steam engine that they originally used to pump the water.  I doubt that we'll get to go to it though, as when Sarah gets in from work, she'll be ready to sleep.  It's from 10 until 2.

Coffee, juices and other morning beverages are fresh and ready to go.  On the serving station this morning:  turkey bacon, sausage links & patties, scrambled eggs, fried taters, and country fried ham w/red eye gravy and made from scratch buttermilk biscuits. There's also regular sausage gravy, for anyone who doesn't like red eye gravy (like me).

Everyone enjoy your breakfast, your day, and take care.  And Larry, if you get to make it in before heading to the railroad, Happy Birthday, and have a great day.

Good morning on a very chilly (38F at 6 a.m.) Saturday morning everybody.  I am sorry I haven't been around for some time but my Mother had been progressively ill and passed away a week ago yesterday (very peaceful, thank God).  Hopefully I can now get trackside more often and relax with my railfan buddies at Eola yard and environs.  Hope everybody at the diner and coffee shop are well and I promise to make it back more often in the future.

....A cool but beautiful Saturday morning here.  Blue skies, with lots of sunshine.  Noted 41 on temp., but we certainly did have frost on the grass.  To be up to 68 today.

Got my lawn smoothed over and of course with our mulching mower, took care of what leaves have blown from the western neighbors large trees.  So, even though suffering from extreme dry, it certainly looks better now.  The 3/4" of rain one day this week certainly did invite some green to start looking better.
