cherokee woman Quentin, I was going to fix our regular Chinese menu for this afternoon and evening, but changed my mind after reading your post! Italian spaghetti sounds very good! So, that is what is on our menu for the rest of the day. We'll have: 1. Italian spaghetti w/meat sauce and 2. Italian spaghetti w/meatballs. Both are being served with your choice of garden or Caesar salad, Italian green beans, and slices of Italian bread, or you can have garlic or parmesan bread sticks. I

CW.....My favorite there is: Spaghetti {anglehair}, with meat sauce, bread sticks {dry, without garlic}, instead, pads of butter for them, big salad, and coffee. Very good.

Heard from down south - they are all suffering from "fall virus". (I looked it up; they also have tons of ragweed down there!) Wonder if the field chicken suffers from any of this ......?

Mom's in Florida for a week or so to visit her sisters, so now I'm working on all the stuff I put off getting ready for her visit and while she was here. Can't relax entirely, though - she's due back here a week from Saturday before returning to AZ.
For the moment, it's time for bed. Got a pretty substantial "to do" list for tomorrow, and have a memorial to attend on Friday in Syracuse.

Good Thursday morning everyone. Brian, glad to see you popped in for a couple of minutes! Tom, I was thinking about that myself, so we could start the New Year with a "clean slate". You know, New Year, New Beginning.
Coffee, juices and regular breakfast menu is fresh and on the serving station.
Heard the bad news for us this morning: no rain in sight for us for probably at least two weeks. We currently have a temp of 58 degrees, going for a high in the mid 70s again today. Weekend might get a tad bit chilly, with lows in the low to mid 40s, and highs in the 60s.
Also heard on the news that actor Tony Curtis passed away around 12:30 a.m., EDT this morning. From cardiac arrest, and he was 85 years young. They were talking about his being in "Some Like It Hot" with Marilyn Monroe. But, didn't he also play Harry Houdini? Or is my memory failing me?
Everyone have a good morning, and take care.
Good morning. 68 and overcast in Carolina, headed for the low 80s later. I think we have had enough rain for a few days. In the past 24 hours, we have had around 4 and a half inches! Add the previous day's 2 and a half iches and the creeks are rising. Enough for now!
Thanks for breakfast, and everyone have a great day
Tom

Forgot to comment on Tony Curtis. I believe you are right and he did play Houdini. My favorite movie is THE GREAT RACE. He played The Great Leslie and Jack Lemmon played the villainous Professor Fate. It included an all star cast, including Natalie Wood and Peter Falk. Most of them are gone now. They don't makem like that any more
Mookie Q & J will be dining in the far booth. Keep the pasta coming!
.............Make sure it's Anglehair...!
51 degrees and sunny, bright and early this morning. Warming now, and hope to get to mid 70's. Dry, dry, dry...!
Still on a project of repair. Have built in custom made hutch cabinetrywork on end of family room, and one of the pull out drawers had just a bit too much load on it {photographs & CD's}.....and as it was pulled out to it's max. position, one supporting roller & bracket suffered some reshaping. So have the bracket held roller back in position, now must re shape the bracket it rolls on to get things back in order. Believe I'll put that drawer & bracket in another position that has lessor loads on it. They should be all interchangeable. Custom made stuff....Cherry.
Edit: Well we made the temp as predicted....75 in and out, now at 2:30 when I looked....Very nice.
Nope....Didn't need to change drawers, have the repairs made and everything working fine.
Headed for the garage to dig out the snorkel and life jacket - may need it before the day is done. Since 6 AM we've had over a quarter inch of rain and there's no end in sight. They're forecasting 2-4" before this system clears up.
Had a spectacular sunset last night - really pretty, and definitely red - which gave lie to the old saw "red sky at morning...". Since this system came up from the south, it rather fooled the "common wisdom" school of forecasting.
Back to work on my task list for the day.
Mookie Heard from down south - they are all suffering from "fall virus". (I looked it up; they also have tons of ragweed down there!) Wonder if the field chicken suffers from any of this ......?
Dirty feathers has had problems with an over-abundance of sun and flying dirt (along with excessive pollen from the wet summer and smoke from the fires)...but muddled along nicely. BossHen has the allergies.
Lurch passed 90,000 today, the mothership just about died when they heard that.
Actually looking forward to rain next week and a 20 degree drop in temperature.
Da Boyz get "poofed" today and I will have to deal with their indignation when the groomer calls to come rescue them.

Mudchicken, I'm sure they'll be back in good spirits soonest, and not give you any problems!
Tom, wish you could send some of that rain you're getting back westward to us! Our weather guessers are not saying that we probably won't get any rain for another two weeks, at least!
For the menu for the rest of the day:
Chinese menu:
Fried rice (beef, chicken, shrimp, special (house); Chop Suey, Moo Goo Gai Pan, Sweet and sour pork, pepper steak, seafood combo, Kung Po chicken, and beef w/broccoli.
You all enjoy, have a good afternoon, and take care. (Off to work on laundry: yuck!)

No moisture for landlubbers for awhile. Going to have a drying out for fall. But then no snow, either! Sweet and sour chix sounds good for supper. Will need bib and 2 napkins. I really enjoy my Chinese!
Home weather station now showing 1.6" of rain since 0800. Fire radio is very busy with pump details. So far we've been lucky in my district. Having said that, the pager will be going off shortly....
Good Friday morning everyone. We are starting out with temps in the mid 50s, going for a high of around 79 degrees today. Then, tonight, temps will be dropping off to the low to mid 40s in the morning. Highs tomorrow supposed to be in the low to mid 60s.
Coffee, juices and other morning beverages are freshly made and ready. On the serving station this morning: doughnuts, danish, bagels and bear claws, along with some turkey bacon, scrambled eggs, sausage, made from scratch buttermilk biscuits w/sausage gravy.
Today is going to be a busy one: pay bills, go to the grocery and lay in a supply of food. Got the laundry done, so won't have to contend with that today! Unless I decide to start washing up fall and winter clothing, blankets, etc.
Everyone have a great morning, take care and see you all later.
P.S. Noticed we'll have a busy month with members' birthdays: Oct. 2nd, Dan Braun; Oct. 10th, Willy 2; Oct. 13th, Chris May;Oct. 16th, Larry (Tree68) and Oct. 29th, Duff; along with a couple of spouse's birthdays: Oct. 9th, Boss Hen, and Oct. 12, Aimee Blysard! Along with a couple of wedding anniversaries on Oct. 8th: Joe and Stacey Kohnen and Cannonball Jim & Shirl Kline!
In Muncie it's all clear skies, bright sunshine this morning. First peek at the instrument indicated 50 degrees, but a bit later, it was 49, which is normal action. Near 70 for this afternoon.
Still doing some things around here to change over to Winter which is on it's way....Bummer.
Yard mowing in September totaled but 3 mowings...! I'd say, without looking, might be close to, or a record for me.....Dry, dry....dry...!
But this certainly seems like we'll have a very nice sunshiny day.
A few days ago, wife Jean indicated she saw a W B CSX train totally contained double stacks of all blue containers....Believe she said the word "Pacer" in white letters on each container. Noted in new TRAINS mag. a pic near the front {don't have it with me here to see what page}, a similar pic of consist....Caption below indicated a new service of UP & CSX east / west thru service.....? Wonder if that might have been what she saw.....?
Afternoon! Well, got all the bills paid this morning, then went to the grocery. I am tired! Store aisles were very crowded, and what checkout lines that were open, were totally backed up. Think in a few, I will take a nap before doing my back exercises.
Our Friday Fish Fry is now on the serving station, with all the different varieties of fish we normally have, along with all the regular side dishes and desserts.
May have a very busy Sunday: my home Church is having our annual homecoming with dinner on the grounds. And my high school is having a get together of Facebook class members at one of our local restaurants. I need to see if there is anyone who might be able to swing by and pick at least me, up. Not sure if Walt will go with me or not yet. (Trying to talk him into it.) If I can't find a way there and back, then guess I won't be seeing any of my former classmates.
Very chilly out still, even with all the sunshine. Also still very breezy out. Think our current temp is in the mid to upper 60s.
Everyone enjoy your lunch, have a good afternoon, take care and see you all later.

Evening all......
Finally got on tonight, after more than a week "off the grid". Been busy hauling beer and paper, and trying to avoid pileups on the highway (there was a nasty one in the fog on Fancy Gap hill on I-77 in VA Monday, closed 14 miles of road). Mud: next time you make a crack about us truckers not paying for the roads, try to figure out how we can pay for all our expenses, plus pay ourselves something, at about $1.25 a mile. Running a trucking business is not as easy as it looks.......
RE: low bridges. Unfortunately, the new generation of drivers today put too much reliance in their little GPS devices, and not enough on a good ol' map and common sense. I myself do not own a GPS (can't see paying 500 bucks for the one from Rand McNally that is truck specific yet), and have done just fine with a map and paying attention, and calling the customer up when directions are fuzzy.
That said, a gentleman in North Carolina has a nice little site called 11foot8.com, he has several videos of straight trucks hitting the bridge next to his home. This particular bridge has been hit often enough that the railroad installed a protection beam in front of the bridge, and this beam has been replaced at least once. Some pretty spectacular footage.......
Well, off to bed, Mookie, how do you like your chicken, fried or baked?

Hello Americans, it's Saturday. 54 and clear in Carolina, headed for 80 so they say. Nice weather for a change.
Standard fare is on the breakfast bar and soft drinks and juices are on the bar. Enjoy

Good Saturday morning everyone. Tom, thanks for taking care of breakfast this morning. Went back to sleep around 6:30, and re-awoke about an hour ago. We currently have a temp of 48 degrees, don't remember what our high is supposed to be exactly, but I think in the mid to upper 60s. Going to be a very cool day!
Tom, where the heck is that "delete" option? I clicked "More" and it is not listed there.
Paula, when you post a message, click the more tab in the upper right hand corner of the post. It is right above the edit option

10-4 Joe, thanks for comment on the "containers".
Finally, a line of moderate rain is crossing our area now as I type. It appears to be a narrow band angling across Indiana and probably will be clear by sometime this afternoon. But we'll take it.....We seriously really need rain.
51 degrees here when I first looked earlier this morning. Not to get very warm today....mid to high 50's. Next week seems to be prejected to have quite a bit of sunshine and right around the 70 mark for highs.
