Why? The management of that place is so out of touch its sick. Its hard to explain just how to an average railfan unless you work around it and see it daily. In one recent example, a UP official failed one of our guys in an efficiency test for failing to say "RED ZONE" when going in between equipment. Our guy said "in-between" which is what he is required by our RR to say. Our managers just shook their head and laughed at the UP idiot when he reported this "failure". They wrote another guy up for not having his earplugs in his ears, although they were around his neck and he was nowhere near the engine (thus not required to be wearing them) Only two of hundreds of incidents; I could write all night long. Point is: Why don't these people do something constructive like, maybe figure out how they can slow the MELTDOWN of their pathetic managed RR rather than point out "violations" that ain't even violations?!!

The UP,BNSF and any of these BIG railroads are just too sterile imho. Give my the IAIS, IC&E, KB&S or any of these kinda shortlines anyday. Alot more interesting that goat boats on itermodal trains or another yellow block on wheels.(the SD70m's are handsome locos). LONG LIVE THE ROCK!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Are we not just seeing a lot of reaction to the royalties issue?? Certainly a major PR flop.

I don't mind UP, I also don't mind the yellow.

If it's a railroad it's all good in my books.

I don't Hate the UP, they're just my least favorite. Their style is one of gluttony, not unlike microsoft whom I do hate

How much imagination does it take to root for the front runner? NONE!

I also forgot to say, the only reason that I don't like the UP is because of the GREAT CNW RAILWAY. The CNW "will" be missed.I was always a big fan of the:
The CHICAGO&NORTHWESTERN RAILROAD[bow].

I don't mind the yellow too much. But the Southern Pacific and Chicago Northwestern are symbols of railroads of the past. Their paint shouldn't be messed with.

I just don't like Union Pacific. I always have liked BNSF so I am annoyed that Union Pacific has just a few more miles of track than BNSF. I just want BNSF to have more track. I also really think that UP is just too big of a hotshot of a railroad!
