I'll take one of those - with onions and peppers. Provalone cheese. Home-style fries on the side would be good, too....
Had to go onto work today (normally my day off), but everything was in order, so I'm home and about to start on the bathroom (the floor under the toilet needs to be replaced....)

According to NOAA/NWS we were supposed to get some nice storms last night. Know what happened? Sprinkles! Not even flavored ones! Drat! Oh well, thats what happens here in WI. I suppose I should grab my OJ and a plate of eggs and toast and get busy. Be back in later!

Morning All,
Well, the skies opened up last night, and gave us a good rain. Something over half an inch in less than half an hour. Not the strongest rain we've ever had, but nice. The temps are supposed to be good for a day or two as well (of course, after that time we jump back into the 90's).
Can't spend too much time in the Diner this morning as work is calling my name. Will try to stop in tonight though. Hope you all have a great day!

Joe, you just made my day!
I can visualize any young brave going around telling about the chicken feathers in his headdress! (That's not it! BTW, hope Matt still fits the hat and mittens this winter!)
SJ, they don't call those "trainers"--around here they're known as "spouses". But I reserve requests like that for when I'm not very capable of doing that myself. Helps keep them happy.

Dan - I could use a personal trainer. Scratch this ear. Wipe that paw. Fetch that chocolate cake for me will you, please. Don't need a fork, dearie. Just make sure it is very close to the mouf. Turn that fan a little more this way.
Sir Chicken - want you back in pristeen condition. Hate to have to pre-wash like the raccoons!
CW - I am with you. A little bit of cooler weather and I am zonked! Looks like Joe will be joining us! When does that man sleep?
Happy Monday to the rest of you. (except Randy - I was so expecting a little something ($$$$$) hint hint in my bootie that I leave hung on the fireplace year round! Just in case!

Switch8frg: Saw that on the back of a truck about 5 or 6 years ago, boss at the time brought it in for some minor work (can't remember whether he got it at auction or a repo). He jokingly brought up the idea of driving it into the local Peterbilt dealership to get a reaction. We laughed.
Dan: Did you sit on the hill at Byron at all, or just stayed by the yard all day? I prefer sitting on the hill at the County F overpass.
Not too bad here at the moment, had a little rain a bit before 9pm, supposed to get more later tonight as a cold front moves through. Forecast for tomorrow is sunny and 75.
Have a good evening, all.

Larry,
I'm pretty sure that was AdrianSpeeder looking for those. I think it had to do with sprucing up the MySpace page.
OK, I don't remember who was looking for pictures of couplers, but for whoever it was, here's several versions I shot this past weekend. The locomotive is NYC 8223, an RS-3, the car is a former CNR coach, by way of the "Timber Train."
The three images were shot seconds apart - and I don't remember which bridge we were crossing in the first one, which, unfortunately, is also skewed a bit... The difference in the blurring of the roadbed is shutter speed.
If you want an original (Digital Rebel - about 6 Mb), PM me and I'll send it your way.

Pittsburgh - Been there. But more importantly, they young lady for whom my fire department hosted a chicken barbeque today is there, having had a successful lung transplant last night. It was happy news to share with those who showed up for the fundraiser. The event was labelled a success, as well.
Pat wants a couple of good, clean mudchicken feathers, Joe, if the unthinkable should happen. One of her many projects...
Looking forward to tomorrow!
going to need a plate for work tonight.back at it this week.hopefully we dont see any stray feathers floating around as a certain bird heads for pittsburgh.

Steak and corn sounds great!
I had fun in FDL today. I didn't make it to Neenah though. Nothing too exciting to watch, mainly switching!

should be able to put them on your favorites page on your computer when you go to each site.there are too many to be listed here.
CW - Dinner sounds really good! I'll be in later this afternoon!
There was supposed to be severe weather this afternoon, but there are clouds and showers this morning that will limit instability and probably put an end to our severe weather chanecs and maybe even the thunderstorm chances.
Everyone, have a good Sunday!
Willy
That pizza was good last night. I'll steal some from the fridge this morning for my favorite breakfast!
I'm going to head to FDL and NE/MEN to railfan today as (drumroll and sit down)...I ACTUALLY HAVE A WHOLE 24 HOURS OFF! On purpose even! I thought I read the schedule wrong at first but I'll take it. This is my 4th day off since May.
I started training some clients in the Y's weightroom yesterday (I'm also a Personal Trainer) after my 8.5 hour shift watching over the pool. No rescues yesterday so that was a nice change of pace. I'm on track to hit 150 career rescues by the end of the month. For mainly indoor pools that's quite a bit. Well I'll be back later...have a great day!

blhanel wrote:Chris, does the cog railway still run up Pike's Peak? That's probably the only way I'll get above 14K, either that or drive up it or Mt. Evans...
Yes it does. Would you believe that I've never been up it either? Come to think of it, I've never been at the top of Pikes or Evans. It was interesting to hear some of the comments on top of Bierstadt while people looked at the drivers going up Evans (Bierstadt is right next to Evans). They ranged from "Why did we do it the hard way?" to "They'll never know what they're missing."
Personally, I can understand both of those extremes, and probably fall somewhere in the middle. I still have to decide if I drive those two, or take the Cog Rail up Pike's if it'll count towards completing my 14er quest. Some folks have some really silly rules (For example, some won't consider getting both Gray's and Torrey's if you do them together...to me that's just silly). Right now, I'm thinking that I make it to some starting point on a mountain with a vehicle, whether that point is 7+ miles away, or a few hundred feet away. This probably doesn't matter too much for Evans, as it wouldn't be too hard to climb it sort of via the Bierstadt route. However, Pike's is a two day endeavour by foot. I'm not sure I'm ready to commit to that if I can get on a train, and take it to the top.
I guess when I've bagged the other 52 non-drive-ups, I'll have to figure out if I want to get the other two the hard way or not. Since I've only got 7 of the 54 so far, I think I've got some time to figure it out!

Well CW,
I didn't get to make it in tonight for pizza and I am sorry. My wife's work had that "end of summer bash" at the Cincinnati Westin I was telling you all about.
Needless to say, she had to drive home. We each got 3 free drink tickets and with her not being able to consume "drinks" right now, I ended up getting six free drinks. The couple that was with us did their fair share of "drinks" as well. The wife made a fine DD tonight for us all.
But anyway, if there's any left over Goetta pizza, I'll take some. May need some aspirin as well to go with it. They always say pizza's are good the next morning for hangovers.
Hope everyone has had a great weekend so far.

Speaking of which, are there any places that are as railfan-friendly as that park in Rochelle, IL that was mentioned in the new issue of TRAINS?
