...Jen....Noticed on HGTV, a program Sunday night featured a renovated building there in Lincoln, NE., and the couple had made it into a new living quarters...it was a 2-story stone building facing a pretty nice part of town and street...and now is their residence....Very nice, even had a balcony where they could look out over parts of the town, etc....Nice area.

Funny you should mention Carter. Certainly hope they can get all the burns threatening homes under control soon.

Carter and Flatiron are two of the campgrounds that my RVing friends like to hang out at. Somtimes I'll join them up that way, too. Couldn't find any shots of Carter, but this one is from Flatiron Res. which is just north of there:



That's a 36 Caddy pulling a 1950 Spartan trailer. How's that for nostalgia?!?!

Meanwhile, will certainly keep my eyes peeled for #3100. Don't think I've gotten a shot of that one on Digital, yet (though I do think I have a 6x6 B&W neg shot up around Brighton...will have to dig around tonight).

Mudchicken - thanks for your kind thoughts and don't worry about the timing - hey, I'm 15 - 19 odd hours out of synch with you up over lot anyway - not a bad excuse huh?

Paula - I don't think I'm going too badly.
Still feeling excited, but there is lots for me to do before I finish work here tomorrow, and lots to do at home this week, as I am packing to travel interstate - leaving this coming Saturday.
My good friend Nathan is flying up to drive back down with me. He can catch up with my family before we leave. [:)]
Plus, it's 1,600 kilometres (1,000 miles) by road from Brisbane here in south east Queensland down to Eden in southern New South Wales, so I will appreciate the company.
Of course, we're going to break the journey up. First hop is to Tamworth in NSW (halfway to Sydney), then on to Sydney next day, then final hop down the coast - each hop being about 500km (300 miles), that's a long enough journey in one day for us.

I think my brain is tired from trying to think of everything....oh well...you get that...[;)]

Quentin, yes we do have interstate highways, but probably nowhere near the size of the network you will have up over, as our population is a lot smaller, but with a similar sized land mass.

Good morning, everyone! Well, here it is, another Tuesday Produce Day.
And wouldn't you know it, we're supposed to get rain this afternoon, but
they say the rain couldcome in by mid morning. Which is when the
produce shows up.

On the breakfast bar, you will find: turkey bacon, sausage, scrambled eggs,
oatmeal, toast, biscuits, sausage gravy, hash browns. I'll be back whenever
we get through with Produce. If the truck comes at 9:36, like last week,
that'll be right about 10:30, 10:45.

Hmm! Wish I knew where that was, Quentin. I know they renovated the old Federal building and made those into condos - right at the edge of the heart of town. But that isn't two story, nor single family.

Lincoln has always been a reasonably pretty town - clean and well-maintained. They are converting all the buildings around the old CBQ (now BNSF) depot as an "Old Market" concept - which is exactly what it was- since it was so close to the depot. Condos and restaurants/shops are thriving down there.

I always watch HGTV, but usually during the day. I will watch for that on reruns! They have some good quality tv, but always after my bedtime!

Gone, hopefully, Jan 31. Will need new paint, carpet through out (it was all new throughout when they moved in) new locks, new combo door on front (they broke it and it was brand new) and major repairs in the finished basement. They have broken doors and wall paneling down there. Plus a new garbage disposal and new stove. Then there is the matter of all the stones in the rock walls needing replaced (they pulled them out and dropped them on the sidewalk until they broke) and the stepping stones that are now in the tree line.

Toys on the garage roof and small rocks on the roof of the duplex.

She wanted her deposit back....

Dave....I believe our Interstate system was originally planned to be roughly about 42,000 miles in size and that started about 1956 but since that some additional routes were conceived and built so our total mileage is above that. The Pennsylvania Turnpike in my home state was one of the original portions now included in the system. It was built as a "super highway" toll road and first 160 miles opened in Oct. 1940.

...Jen...It was a light colored stone building that faced the street in front of it and if you would stand in the street and look at the front of it a street went back along it on the right side.....I'm trying to remember what it originally was but for some reason can't pin point exactly the former business...Possibly it was a blacksmith shop...It is an elongated building more narrow on the front than it is long...And yes, this part of town does look clean and rather neat....

...One more thing Jen....back of that building and I believe adjacent to it...{don't think it is attached}, is a 2 or 3 car garage this couple owns too....and it's outfitted to allow the couple to have entertaining gatherings in it...Showed several motorcycles in it too....

Had 48 customers for Produce today. Have more apples, bananas,lettuce,
and red potatoes.

Lunch today will be: your choice of vegetable beef soup, bean soup, cream
of brocolli soup, w/crackers or cornbread. Will also have some grilled cheese
sandwiches and peanut butter sandwiches to go with the soups.[C=:-)]

The rain did start here right around 9 this morning. Is still pouring, and have
had some thunder to go with it. I personally haven't seen any lightning, but
where you have thunder, there's usually lightning with it. And the rain is a
COLD[ rain, too.

There is plenty of the soups to have for supper also, and we'll add tuna melt
sandwiches to go with the soups.
