While you are there have a creampuff and bring a bunch of them back to the diner.

Water! Need Water! Despite the weather supposedly being a little cooler today, you can't prove it by me. Of course two hours in firefighters gear this morning didn't start my day off any too well. My morning commute was interrupted by a structure fire in a neighboring district - 4th on scene, but no engines yet. We kept it down some with extinguishers until the engine did arrive and we could put some real water on it. Still smoke and water damage throughout the place, and a real mess around where it apparently started.

By the time we got done I was soaked to the skin. And I never handled a hose (chief's perogative - I did do the television interview, though).

Decided to take the rest of the day off from work, too. Of course as I napped mid afternoon, a gentleman failed to notice a stopped car ahead of him so we were back out again to deal with that. The funny part of that one (no one was hurt, by the way) was that the tailgate of the truck had the name and number of a well-known NASCAR driver on it - we joked about his having drafted a little close.

Sitting back and waiting for number three....

Hey I know that is a fun thing to do. I did it all of the time when. I would be driving my
bus I always aimed for the biggest puddles and of course people would look at me like
I was nuts but hey. It was fun and that's all that counted.

Railfan619 congrats on your fist star. [:D]

Ok I went to school today and took my in class essay (test) on is it right for the Philadelphia school district to dedicate African American History as an entire course, as a requirement to graduate high school. I got my paper back on Amtrak's Acela and I got a A plus, thankx Carl for the wonderful editing skills!!!!!! Then I went to the gym which was beyond packed, then I went to Whole Foods Market for some food products, then I drove home (On the way home I drove my truck at 40mph through a huge puttle of water and I got my truck all wet!! That was fun, and a the people behind me thought I was nuts. But hay when you have a 6 inch lift on your truck you can do things like that lol) and got on the computer. Pretty exciting stuff huh??/ lol

Carl yes it was interesting that both of us were in the Diner eailer today. Ya know I was late to class because I was in here. I didn't really care though.

2000 posts for Cherokee Woman!!!!Hooray! and to think that we have probably read all of them!! We are impressed--2000 is a lot of posts. And the menu for today sounded really good, especially all of those cookies!
And we didn't realize that this is a 5 Star diner! It's not raining here in Az where we are and the temp in Tucson is about 108.
Congratulations and thanks for all the wonderful posts on the train forum!

Boy this is getting harder to write in here because you all have good storyies to tell and I only have one but I am sure you have already seen it. If not then i'll tell it . When I was little I got to move an Amtrak train into the station and the reason for that was I was apart of that big brother program and they though getting me on a train would work and weel it did. But anyway getting to move an amtrak train was the coolest thing ever and I hope one day. I get to do something like that again.

wound up with about 3-4/10" in the gauge;temp. went from 86 to 80,now back to
82,sun came out brightly. And of course you know what the humidity did!

Happy Birthday Chad [bday] Hope you have a great one!!!!

Congrats to CW on obtaining her 5th star;Well Deserved!!!! [bow][C=:-)][bow]

Hi! Can you believe that Sarah and I are both here at the same time?

Happy birthday, Chad--and congratulations on the girlfriend. They certainly are fun and revitalizing, but they do take a lot of time (and somehow, one never regrets it!).

We had a family gathering for dinner yesterday (some of my wife's relatives from California; first time we've seen them in about 17 years). High point of my night was my six-month-old granddaughter reaching over and wanting to hold onto me. I guess she's claiming ownership there.

Cher, if you respond to this request for some nice, cool limeade, it should be your 2000th post. Congratulations (I might make it to 2000 by year-end)!

Any extra cars on the train? Amtrak uses that train to bring cars out of Beech Grove to Chicago for forwarding to other points on the system. Delay could be related to that. Just a guess.

At least there is no way they were holding the train for the Governor for a ride up to Chicago. lol
