Mookie, while you start the motors on the rockers, I'll fix some breakfast.

Coffee and juice are ready.

Breakfast this morning will be: oatmeal and toast. You can have your
choice of plain, dry toast, toast w/butter, or cinnamon toast. We also
have some cereal: Cheerios, Corn Flakes, Alpha Bets, Fruity or Cocoa
Pebbles, and Raisin Bran.

Lunch will be: tuna salad sandwiches, or you can have tuna salad in a
tomato, or on a bed of lettuce. Garden salads are also available, along
with Ceasar salad, with some slices of ham, turkey and chicken.

Well, I started college today. I did the orientation thing where you listen to the course co-ordinator talk about what to do and how to do things and what not to do. We had some guest speakers also. We had a RCMP inspector come and give us a lecture (the academic kind) as well as from the co-ordinator who is a retired Niagara Regional Police detective and a captain from the Canadian Army Researvists doing some recruiting.............maybe later on.

The stupid college is giving me a run around on the grant though. They lost one of the forms and said I didn't hand it in-had to get upset with them over that. Then they found it but I had to confirm it with the bank. Went to the back said I needed something from the registars office; went to them-sent me financial aid where I started-AHHHHHHHHHH!!
Now MOST not all, is taken care of but still is going to be a pain in the butt for the first couple of weeks-too much stupid paper work associated with the college-not even the actual courses..

Its funny to watch the weight room because Niagara Regional Police officers constantly are popping in and out to train. I saw a uniformed patrolman lifting at least 250lb while he was being spotted by a uniform from the bomb squad-either that he was Emergency Task Force.

I get to patrol 2 parades as part of the mandatory 40 hours of volunteer work. I have yet to get a call from the marshall or an emissary so nothing is quite concrete yet. I also have to do 12 hours of college campus security guard duty too.

I may not be coming around the forum to often as I will be literally running my butt off (2 physical ed classes in a row), but I will miss getting into steady debates and discussion will you all.

The report I got says that Bob Denver died last Friday--age 70, complications from cancer treatment. Survived by wife and four kids.

Just heard a little while ago, that Bob Denver, aka Gilligan, has passed away.
Said he was in North Carolina. No other details available yet, that I know of.

One of my co-workers has taken on friends from the flood; it sounds like she's gotten more than she bargained for.

My wife, who is more Dutch than I, doesn't like the raisins in Dutch apple pie--I'll gladly take her piece, too!

I will be heading out to the hobby shop (on my bike) later this gorgeous afternoon--they've moved the Train Department into a new store of its own, and that's opening today. Ironically, it's further from the tracks then the rest of the shop now.

SJ, my life was forced to pass in front of me this morning. I would have loved to be in your shoes--or car--this past weekend [sigh]!

Mookie, I hope you found the leftovers in containers in the fridge, with your
name on them, that we fixed for you over the weekend!

Didn't get much in the way of produce this morning: potatoes, carrots, and a
small bag of garden salad mix. But what we did get will definitely come in
handy.

Our area (Lou., KY) is due to get about 500-600 people from New Orleans
sometime today. My brother works with a friend of his, who remodels older
houses. His boss got a call from FEMA last week, and they have worked all
weekend getting the houses ready for some of these people to move into.

Supper tonight, along with the weekend bbq leftovers: liver and onions, garden
salads, baked potatoes. Also have plenty of chocolate cake and white cake
left for dessert, along with a couple of Dutch apple pies.

Jay - I feel your pain. I washed curtains this weekend. Ugh! Let's just say they changed color and only took two washes!

Labor Day - spent a few hours of it sitting under a bridge, holding hands with the Driver, watching it rain peacefully and ......sigh.........watching trains go by.

(No I didn't see anyone else under there!)

Gotta go "paw" through the leftovers! Saw a blueberry in an earlier post - must find it!

...Levees are being plugged, various pumps are starting up and pumping, more pumps coming on line this week....Half of refineries in the area are to be back on line this week.....water is slowly lowering in N O....{Finally}....most people are now being at least fed...Let's hope all these happenings will finally trend the news slightly on an up scale this week....But oh my, the grim task of the deceased being discovered will multply this week.....Hopefully all the millions of dollars collected and being collected will start to help where needed now too....!

I think I need a big breakfast today. After working for 5 hours in front of the grill and fryer yesterday, I am still fried. Things are still a work in progress at home. The kitchen/family room floor project got extended to wall and lighting fixtures. That is done except for re-hanging pictures and wall decorations. An added project is a new sink, vanity, lights and wall treatment in the powder room off the family room. Fortunately, the rehab budget is now in negative numbers, so there is nothing left for any thing new.
High school seniors don't start until tomorrow, so Matt is on hand for the clean up today. I think he would rather be in school.

Enough complaining. Summer is officially over. Onward and upward.

Very interesting action there- lots of eastbound freights going through Omaha, and looks like most of the westbound action was taking the Blair sub. Took members' advice and ventured up to Fremont as well- was definitely worth it.
