Well, Mutt is out dodging the rain drops (and downpours), manning the grill for
tonight's supper. He's grilling steaks, pork chops, burgers, brauts, hot dogs,
and sausages, and corn on the cob. Who knows, he may even be "roasting"
some marshmallows, too.

The weather today is HOT HOT HOT and the humidity is going to be high too. Since I am in the supply truck on the weekends I have to stock extra water. The train crews such drink a lot, and the yard people do too.

OK - I'm awake now.

Finally - a day "off." Of course, those of us working (volunteering) for tourist don't really mind it - after all we get to play with / on trains all day... Three day of railroading (plus the two hour drive each way) deserves a break.

Of course, plenty of fireworks in the evenings - EMS bike patrol Sunday, then out on the St Lawrence in a neighboring fire department's fireboat for a front row seat last night and tonight. Only down side last night was that it sprinkled some during the fireworks, and we were downwind. The raindrops picked up smoke as they fell, said raindrops landed on me, and my house still stinks. I think I've washed everything now, so it should clear up.

Have a safe holiday, what's left with it!

Good afternoon everybody, we had really yummy pasta and salad here last night and I just had some left-overs with sliced up bratwurst added in to make it interesting, yummy! Later the neighborhood will have its annual Fourth Of July block party and we will grill franks and burgers, etc. and sit around talking about how to fix what's wrong with the world.

Man was I busy at work tonight. I think about every train on the UP system came through NLR and needed me today. [B)] I have a feeling they are running more trains now and will be running less trains on Tuesday. At least I hope that is it. I will be in the truck again on Tuesday.


There was a wreck on the interstate tonight that I could see from our yard. It reminded me of the thread I stated about not driving on certain days.

I have a propane grill. I just got tired of messing with charcoal and it is so dirty too. I guess you can say the propane is the lazy man's way out. [B)] [8]

Even though today is my day off I am working. I would get 8 hours of pay even if I didn't work. Now I clock in on OVERTIME and get an additional 8 hours of OT on top of the regular holiday pay. [:D]

I can well imagine!! She was in the right hand lane,came to a complete stop,
and tried to make the u-turn across the "fast lane" and into the crossover.
Well,truck driver did everthing he could to not hit,but rear wheels of trailer ran
right across top of a late model Dodge Neon,into oncoming traffic in the other direction. Police have said at this time,no charges will be filed.[:0] I'm sorry;but that 16 year old should never,ever be allowed behind the wheel of any vehicle again!!!!!

We won't have a selection like we have on Saturdays. I've only fixed the following

1. extra cheese
2. supreme
3. goetta (made a call to Cincy, and ordered three extra large for supper, which
have arrived now))

Hope everyone is satisfied with the supper tonight.

For dessert, we've got plenty of cake and ice cream.

Yeah Joe,like that car was going to attain speeds that the Hydroplanes go!!
(They did say the vehicle did go airborne though!)
The driver (an 18 yr. old) is still in the hospital here in Louisville (one of 4 air-lifted to here),the 7 others were treated in Madison,In. They still haven't revealed a cause yet,still trying to determine if drugs or alcohol were present.
(driver was supposedly "slumped over the steering wheel when he hit the crowd.)

We had another "good one" Fri.,a 16 yr. old was going to make a u-turn
on one of our interstates at one of those "crossovers";she did,from the
right hand lane and got run over by an 18 wheeler!! Luckily,neither she or
any of the others from 5 vehicles involved suffered any "life threatening injuries."

About it for now,just got back in after doing several errands,temp. is about 94,
afraid to look at the "heat index",if I saw what it really feels like outside,that might make me pass out!![:0]

Managed to see several trains while I was out,but of course,I didn't have the camera with me.[:(]

I am busy in the kitchen this morning. I have the potato salad made and working on the pasta salad. The 3 bean salad is canned tho. Then I will state the shake n bake chicken. Well, I am now awake totally.

There are plenty of cold cut sandwiches made up and in the cooler. There are
chips on the counter, to have with your sandwiches.

I'm taking some things out of the freezer, and transferring them to the fridge for
tomorrow's lunch and supper: steaks, burgers, hot dogs, brauts, sausages, etc.

Also will be busy making up the salads for tomorrow: potato, three bean, Jell-O.

And for desserts today and tomorrow, we'll have a white cake w/patriotic decorations
on it, along with some fudge brownies, and M&M cookies.

If anyone has a request for supper tonight, please let me know by 2 p.m. EDT, so
I can get everything ready. Thank you.
