The wife has got the miseries and can't handle even a mild day's temps. It causes breathing problems, which concern me a lot! I hope her next quack visit will shed some light on this. Good Monday morning, you all. Looks like another beautiful day for us here in Louisville, although it's to be a bit warmer than it has been: predicted high today is 88 degrees. Possibility of more rain coming in sometime late tomorrow, continuing thru Friday.
Coffee, juices, iced teas and hot water for tea are all ready and waitin' for everyone.
The regular breakfast menu of bacon, sausage, eggs, biscuits & gravy are on the warmer bar.

Good afternoon, you all. Been taking kind of a lazy afternoon, after getting Sunday Dinner going in the Crock Pot. It will be ready in about and hour, hour and a half: beef roast, w/taters & carrots. I've also mixed up some homemade dinner rolls, and they will go into the oven, just about the time the roast is ready. Also on tonight's menu: broccoli, green beans, corn, garden salad, cole slaw, fresh from the vine ripe tomatoes.
We've got a very nice, comfortable sunny day, with temps in the low to mid 80s (I think, haven't really paid any attention to the thermometer outside).
You all take care, and enjoy the rest of the afternoon and evening.

Randy, I can imagine the costs of some of these "upgrades" must be tremendous.
And the extra length is something I've wondered about....Such as maneuvering a rig with a tractor having an extremely long WB.

Have been there several times, and have not seen the entire place yet. I believe they have a website, search for 'Iowa 80', and you should find it.
I've been there several times as well. It's like stopping at a mini-mall. I love the old pick-up perched on the "rocks" in the middle of the food court area...

All the big "chain" truckstops (Pilot, Petro, TA, and Flying J) are set up with a main pump, and a "satellite" pump, avoids throwing the nozzle under the truck to fill the other tank. Had a comical episode at the Pilot in Carlisle, PA some months back, guy in a rental truck couldn't figure out how to operate the pump, he didn't know you have to turn on the main pump first, then turn on the satellite to fuel on the Passenger side of the vehicle.

Good Sunday morning, everyone. Just got in from the other thread on the Trainfest in Owasso. Nice looking photos from there.
Coffee, juices, lemonade, Gatorade, iced teas, and hot water for hot tea are ready. And on the warmer bar this morning: bagels, bear claws, pecan rolls, cake and yeast doughnuts and raspberry and apple danishes.

It's hot (from the low seventies in the morning to the upper nineties) and dry ( a little shower last night may have helped some) out here.
Last night was a noisy night as many celebrated the arrival of the main body of the Latter Day Saints on 7/24/1847. We have had a rodeo, a horse parade, other parades, and, yesterday morning, the Big Parade of the year.
I'm almost through with the house painting, with a little touching up to do here and there, and painting a couple of doors.

Rain cleared out around here by mid morning, then we had another mild thunder shower around 2:30, 3:00, but the sun is back out, and the rain is totally out of our immediate area.
I don't know how many will be around here tonight, but I have fixed a few pizzas for our Saturday Night Pizza Fest:
1. Canadian Bacon 2. Goetta 3. Pepperoni/Mushroom 4. Hawaiian 5. Supreme 6. Cheese w/extra cheese 7. Italian sausage calzones
And there are plenty of chocolate chip and M&M cookies for tonight, along with ice cream for us to have for dessert tonight.

PS, Quinton, I did see the program. It was pretty cool to see how you can customize stuff. Now if we could just figure out how to put a sleeper behind the cab of a Gevo... Better yet, chrome the exuast stack!
...Anyone see the program on Modern Marvels, "Truck Stops" last night....Pretty interesting. Surprised at the custom "cab additions" of comfort {almost like home}, for truck tractors available now.
Also, noted of the now available...dual fuel pumps for fueling an eighteen wheeler at some truck stops....fuel pumps at both sides to enable a faster fill up....and so on. Didn't see all of the program, but what I did see was interesting.
One super Truck Stop having every conceivable product {for truckers}, and even entertainment...{theater}, and much, much more....
We had a monsoon here again- got 1.5" in less than an hour. Today looks like it's going to be a peach.

68 degrees now and overcast and the potential is there for more rain to pass by here today.
Edit: It appears the terrible tire problem {of last year's Indy Brickyard 400 race}, has been solved by Good Year. It's being noted by several name drivers, Jeff Gordon, Stewart, J. Burton....several others they have run upwards of practice runs of 35 plus laps and tires are doing well....Last year, tires were failing or showing tire cords in less than a dozen laps. Seems tires will not be an item from faulty design....this year.
Tomorrow being the big outing of Nascar at the famous Indy 500 track, so we'll hope it clears enough for that. Weather people indidate it probably will be ok for the race....Hope so.
Hear a train horn in the distance as I type...Probably over north of us just a mile on the Frankfort line of NS. Still think it is a bit busier lately.

Woke up at 6 a.m. to a thunderstorm rolling through the area. Looks like we'll have a pretty good chance of storms from today on through at least next Friday. Our temp this morning is about 70 degrees

Good morning folks! CW hasn't been in here yet, so I will take the responsibility of serving breakfast this morning. The coffee is about done brewing and we have orange juice ready for pouring. On the menue for this morning we have buttermilk pancakes, french toast, hot maple syrup, pork sausage links, bacon, hash brown potatoes and scrambled eggs.

I tried the home page and accessed it with no problem, but the forums were unavailable. On the home page, I finally noticed, after several days that I was not logged in. had a good trip up here.we are in our hotel and they have a free computer here! we went to Durand and saw a non stop meet at the diamond.We walked around the steamfest(our tickets are not until tommorow).we waited and saw the 4449 come in from its all day excursion.people are trying to get in the hotel here and all the area hotels are full.Matt is excited for tommorow.time for bed another early rise in the morning.

Finally getting back in here: we had more computer problems today. Received a Windows Security Alert that our virus protection wasn't on, and had no way to get it back. Spent over 2 and a half hours with technical support lady down in Shreveport, LA. Still don't have the virus protection, and probably won't have it until sometime Monday. So, we have to watch what sites we visit from now until then.
If anyone is around, I've put out some fish (cod and perch), along with some fries, hush puppies and mac & cheese on the warmer bar.
And for dessert, there's ice cream, M&M cookies, and chocolate chip cookies.

Larry, depending on timing, you might see my truck today. Will be headed toward downtown Buffalo shortly (cringe, at least tandems are slid to 40-foot mark), then headed toward Milwaukee and MillerCoors. Come Wednesday, I get a short vacation, it's county fair time.

Larry, you might try bribing your local postmistress with chocolate chip cookies or something of that nature. A few weeks ago I treated the counter clerks at our local downtown post office with homemade chocolate chip cookies. After sampling her first cookie, "Jody" looked at another clerk and said, "Now we owe Ray, big time!"

I also at one time had an '82 Ford Escort Wagon...An "OK" car...but not a Galaxie.

More autos produced, more railroad business and so on....Guess anything like that helps our stagnant economy right now.

I've got some sloppy joes ready for lunch, along with fries and salad for lunch today. Seems to be kind of slow in here, so decided not to fix a whole lot of food. Don't want to be wasting food, fixing it, and nobody around to eat it.
Going to be catching a bus in about a half hour, to go to the library. Have run out of reading material, so need to go restock on books to read. Guess I'll take my rain jacket with me, to be on the safe side: weather report says we have a possibility of a stray shower coming in. I know of a few people around the neighborhood who have step throat (Sarah being one of them), and don't want to run the chance of getting sick, or carrying more germs into the household.
