grampaw pettibone

It was up for more than 4 hrs last night, but gone again. It would jerk and freeze up, and there were some repeats of the video

The rail-cam was showing again up to a few minutes ago, 15.00 UK time.

Still getting a blank screen in both Firefox and IE8.

As of 12.00 mid-day (UK time/6am or 7am USA) it's a black screen.....again!!

Oh well, one day perhaps we'll get a really clear sound and vision rail-cam..??    It's a good advertising media though for the Hotel Roanoke.....when it's working, that is!!

Shame about the Rochelle web-cam being so small and it being a 4 second refresher.

 Hurry! I'm going through withdrawal.Smile

They must have heard you as it appears to be up and running again :-))

Cheers,

Heiter

Well it was on for a while anyhow and went off about 6.15pm/7.15pm (UK 00.15).    I watched here in the UK from about 11pm BST/GMT up to the point when it went off at approximately 00.15.    It was only running at 500kbps as opposed to 991kbps a;though the action was smooth and didn't break-up

I'm sure they will have it back up and running in a few days. Have patience.

Clutch Cargo

down flat right now. nothing but whitescreen.

There is an apology on the Roanoke Hotel's Rail-Cam (link) page which confirms what the Hotel told me several days ago and relates directly to the information I supplied earlier.    There has only been advice that there are *server* problems affecting the network.

The Hotel Roanoke are to be congratulated for working on the relevant updates which will hopefully reinstate the Rail-Cam to a satisfactory working condition for the benefit of all concerned.  Smile

Cheers,

Heiter.

I guess it`s like all things electronic , there are going to be problems . But we are lucky to have this cam in this location and they usually get the problems resolved quickly. So no more complaining from me .          RON

With all the " buffering "  maybe it will be fed a Bufferin asprin .  HEH  HEH Sign - Oops

Yes.....It's messing up big time....Just clicked on it and got a live pic of a general freight moving west....and then in 20 sec. or so, the pic. froze.

And I did scroll down {as another poster mentioned}, and found they are telling us the system is overwhelmed with "customers", and they are trying to repair and get it up and running again....

I would also suspect technical problems due to rain and wind.

Scroll below the picture and you will see a notice which says that they are having outages due to the high demand for the Cam.  They are working on upgrades.

No issues today (Monday) but over the last few days I have found the camera sometimes not available.

I pointed out that watching the cam in browser is hopeless.  Firefox, Opera and Comodo (same as the new Google Chrome) always selects Windows Media Player.  WMP frequently freezes and buffers making watching a real pain.  I therefore use VLC Media Player (no browser as it is bookmarked as a favorite) and it works fine for me.  Occasional issues, due to other pro grammes running a but nowhere like WMP

Often when watching I wish that I could put the clock back and see the steam locos and passenger cars that once ran through Roanoke. Wink
