There is an apology on the Roanoke Hotel's Rail-Cam (link) page which confirms what the Hotel told me several days ago and relates directly to the information I supplied earlier.    There has only been advice that there are *server* problems affecting the network.

The Hotel Roanoke are to be congratulated for working on the relevant updates which will hopefully reinstate the Rail-Cam to a satisfactory working condition for the benefit of all concerned.  Smile

Cheers,

Heiter.

I'm sure they will have it back up and running in a few days. Have patience.

Well it was on for a while anyhow and went off about 6.15pm/7.15pm (UK 00.15).    I watched here in the UK from about 11pm BST/GMT up to the point when it went off at approximately 00.15.    It was only running at 500kbps as opposed to 991kbps a;though the action was smooth and didn't break-up

As of 12.00 mid-day (UK time/6am or 7am USA) it's a black screen.....again!!

Oh well, one day perhaps we'll get a really clear sound and vision rail-cam..??    It's a good advertising media though for the Hotel Roanoke.....when it's working, that is!!

Shame about the Rochelle web-cam being so small and it being a 4 second refresher.

It was up for more than 4 hrs last night, but gone again. It would jerk and freeze up, and there were some repeats of the video

Big Smile   Smile,Wink, & Grin The camrail would be serious if it weren't for the cartoons.People walking are at normal speed as well as other events, the  freeze frame then the " jerky things are the cartoons" LOL. However, this is better than no railcam. HEH  HEH. ~~~~==Jim

It may be quite a few days before you get a reply if my reply was anything to go by as it went from one to another.

The cam was showing again about 30-40 mins ago but it went jerky, crashed and then went black.

It's been up and down more times than the proverbial garments... ;-)        I would have thought that the experts would have called to see them by now and offered to put it right!     The hotel must surely know what the problem is and how to resolve it.

I can't help but get the feeling that it could be getting in the way of their operatios in some way and the web-can is well down the pecking order of priorities.    Just a thought but it could just be my way of trying to comprehend why it's taking them so long to rectify something which is so simple.    This then begs the questions: Have they got the time and/or can they be bothered..??    Can they warrant the cost of correction..??    I was led to believe, by them, that they were aquiring, or needed to aquire, a new server to help cope with their internet activities over-load.

It would be a shame really as it gives pleasure to so many and keeps the hotel name firmly on the map...

Just took a peak to see if it was up and running and how well, if so....Watched it a few minutes, and it seemed to be doing quite well.
