Looks like their snow is slowly melting away . We have a foot on the ground and it is still snowing here in western north carolina . Is the traffic almost nonexistant or have i just been on at the wrong time ? Hope you all had a great christmas .  RON

A bit more snow covering in Roanoke overnight.  It will be interesting to see if this area gets the massive snow predicted to go up the east coast today.

Wheels are rolling again . It looks like everything is back to normal . Just saw a container train go through . It was on the repaired track and was traveling at normal speed . Still quite a bit of snow .     RON

....Yes, I just turned to look and it was white in Roanoke.  Not a movement of anything....not even one light shining.  But I suppose that's the way it's to look on Christmas Morning.

It would be nice to see a nice long sleek passenger train pulled in and unloading some late travelers.  No more.

I think that minivan has been there since a couple days after the derailment two weeks ago.  I am fairly certain that it was not there the day of the derailment or the next day... there were a couple of other cars that seemed to have been trapped by the dozens of MOW trucks that were parked all over, but they left in a couple of days, then this minivan shows up and hasn't moved since.

Sure is a ghost town right now!

...That is unusual for the white van to be parked in that spot this amount of time.  Generally, at 5 pm, the people come out from their work place and hit the road.

Just wonder why one would leave a vehicle in such a spot for that amount of time.

And all certainly does seem quiet in the panoramic view from the web cam.

Looks clear enough that the distant radio towers should be visible tonight out on the mountain.   Raindeer should be safe, and not fly into one of them.

Well... the work light has been removed and I haven't seen a MOW truck in the parking area nor a hardhat wandering around, so the only thing left to do is for MOW's Mother to come clean up the mess they left behind.

Most people are idiots when it comes to trains . I would bet that this women will do the same thing again if the same situation arises again . The sad thing is that the railroad is the one that will get the bad publicity from this .       RON

BREAKING NEWS..... I think.

The top headline of my morning paper, the Martinsville Bulletin reads 'Pedestrian Struck By Train'.  It was reported that a local woman was running between the rails when a northbound NS empty coal drag spotted her.  Blowing the horn, ringing the bell and going into emergency the crew attempted to avoid hitting her, to no avail.  The good news is that her injuries weren't considered life threatening.
