WC 7514 is now in Green Bay, WI.  Good thing its moving further from Woodcrest and Memphis!

WC 3021 and WC 3023 were both spotted in Neenah today as well.

ACCORDING TO A POSTER ON THE WCINFO GROUP, THERE IS ONLY ONE SD45 LEFT!!!!!!!!!!!

HE CLAIMS 7514 IS THE ONLY ACTIVE ONE AS OF TODAY.  JUST GIVE IT ONE DAY AND I WILL HAVE AN ANSWER ON THIS ONE.

SD45's No Longer!  WC 7514 was headed down to Woodcrest on Q11841-25.  This ends the operation of Wisconsin Central SD45's in the state of Wisconsin.  In that train there was WC 3006, CN 6925 and CN 57??.

:-(

Don't look forward to CN "Dontating" anything to anyone.  The way it looks right now is that they want to sell and scrap all SD45's.

As for the remaining ones that are left, I copied this from the WcInfo YahooGroup and it was posted on 1/21/07:

--WC 007514 NEENAH WI 01 21 0820 U Departure
   L52481 CN
   WC 007519 NEENAH WI 01 21 0951 U Departure
   A41231 CN
   WC 007531 HUMBOLDT MPLS MN 01 21 0839 U Departure
   R91681 CN

7502 arrived Markham the 19th and 7532 arrived Memphis, TN the 18th.

So this leaves us with 7514, 7519, and 7531.

no more MRL SD45s either. now we really only have 1 or 2 shortlines who run them. whoever bought those 3 WC ones and Pan Am who still has just 1. that gives us a grand total of 4 SD45s still in service anywhere...

MRL still has a handful, and NREX has some in the 641Xs.

At least 7525 is back in service. As for the MRL SD45s, a few weeks ago they just sent at least a dozen SD45s and two of the F45s to Chicago Heights, IL, possible to be scrapped. Also, IC&E's lone SD45 was scrapped at Chicago Heights.

Actually Max, the only one on the rails is the 7525. The ones that were going back in service are still sitting around. I believe they torched the idea of re instating them.

Nope, just being moved DIT. The 7525 is on home rails, but for how long? The auction ends May 10th, and if so im guessing it will be retired for scrap soon after.

Dang 7528 is gone! a.k.a 6528. That was my favortite SD-45. Got a lot of stories behind it. The unit came for BN, hit a gravel truck in Chicago, got a UP nose job, got in WC paint, later it got rebuilt, roamed the rails for a while. The CN came and killed her. Here's the link of her in death row. I hate to see her go.Sad [:(]

The #7528 is the unit that the WC locomotive simulator we have is patterned after.

#6548 was the unit that got the UP nose job(from UP #3639). I've got a
couple of pics post repair and post-repaint of the unit, working here
at FDL.

i know the feeling, man. i lost 6620 about a year ago. he was the only SD45 i remember ever seeing in my railfan days (as opposed to beforehand when i was just a train-watching person). and the worst of it all is it's damn near impossible to get an HO WC Sd45 since nobody currently makes them. i'd have been able to renumber one to 6620 if one was actually out on the market.

There is now quite a long line of WC SD45s and BC Rail GEs sitting at Homewood (Woodcrest) waiting to be sold or scrapped. Two WC GP40s are also with them. One of them was the 3003. I have seen two WCs in service lately on the IC, which is very rare. I saw the Map engine on a local and SD40-2 6006 running solo on a very short stack train. This is the first time I have ever seen two WCs leading separate trains on the former IC, and it was all during Homewood Railroad Days at the new railroad park just south of the yard.
