If it has flared radiators it's a SD45 if it doesn't it's a SD45-2.

Bachmann made an HO scale model, but I don't know if you can still find one. I doubt there is anything in any other scale. Maybe brass? They might possibly have a cab kit? Sounds like you may have your work cut out for you, but then again it is a simple cab sans windows.

I agree with jhhtrainsplanes--for passenger service: THE ALCO PA!!!! All paint schemes look better on a PA than any other diesel, ever! My favorite is one in UP Armour Yellow (I'm not sure UP had any PA's, but it still looks neat).

But for my all time favorite, I am forced to agree with Puckdropper: The Alco RSC-2. I haven't yet compared a girl to it, but any railroad which purchased one got a dependable, hard working locomotive which pulled its weight and earned its keep. And besides, those 3-axle trucks just look neat!

hard choice but i'll say the GP-9 types, they been around forever to me and i still see them regularly. just saw a mile long CNR train go by with 3 of 'em with the leader long hood foreward, -timeless.
