So many locomotives does the TPW have?  How many cars a year does it currently haul?

Since most of their operations are at night, it is hard for me to get a real sense of what this railroad is all about.  I saw on here somewhere that it only had 9 or 10 engines?  If that is the case, it must not be hauling too many cars a year.

How often do TPW trains go to Logansport?  How often do they go to Kokomo?

TP&W leases two SD45T-2's #9395 and #9401, is using at least one IORY unit GP40-2 #4011, TPW-lettered GP40-2 #4020, two CORP GP38-2's (#3815 and #3827, IIRC), two IORY SW-1500's (#1500 and #1501) and two TPW-lettered GP38-2's (#3821 and #3830). An ex-Rail Link GP38-2, formerly CSXT, is now on the property, but I can't recall it's #. So that's about eleven units. Another TPW-lettered GP38-2, #3878, is reportedly used on a sister shortline, but which one I don't know - possibly IORY.

TP&W's alternate-day "manifest" trains run nocturnally between East Peoria and the Hoosierlift, but locals can be seen on the East End during daylight hours. On Sunday afternoon, a westbound runs Hoosierlift to East Peoria. The schedule for the alternate-day trains may have been moved a day later (starting the cycle on Monday rather than Sunday PM). I haven't confirmed yet, though.

The Galesburg Job, which is actually a pair of tri-weekly TP&W-operated BNSF transfer runs between East Peoria and Galesburg (T-TPWGAL and T-GALTPW) can run anytime but often during daylight. The AM and PM Switchers and the Kolbe Job can also be seen in daylight in the Peoria area. The Indiana Local works out of the Hoosierlift in the morning and usually runs west to Gilman.

Traffic on the TP&W includes intermodal containers handled for CN between East Peoria and Gilman. Most go through the Port of Halifax, NS and are loaded with Caterpillar tractor parts or diesel engines. TP&W switches several large industries at Mapleton, IL, located SW of Peoria. TP&W switches these industries for UP but also interchanges some Mapleton traffic with BNSF (via TZPR at East Peoria, and yes, TP&W itself handles this traffic for BNSF between there and Galesburg). Some is interchanged to IMRR and NS at East Peoria and some is interchanged with CSXT at Lafayette, IN.

Corn goes to ADM in Peoria and TZPR industries in Pekin; soybeans go to Incobrasa at Gilman - a major customer that ships large quantities of soy meal on the TP&W. Most goes CSXT at Lafayette but some goes to BNSF and UP at Peoria. Some soybean oil goes to these connections as well.

Besides grain elevators, TP&W serves a number of fertilizer dealers with traffic coming from BNSF (ammonia, nitrogen, potash, sulfuric acid), CF Industries in Mapleton (phosphate) and CSXT (ammonia, phosphate).

Since the Conrail breakup, TP&W has acted as CSXT's connection to the Peoria area generating a small, but steady amount of Mapleton and TZPR traffic handled to and from CSXT at Lafayette.

Recently, TP&W began receiving wind turbine parts trains for unloading at the Hoosierlift from both CSXT (Reynolds) and BNSF (East Peoria).

TPW also has 2 ex CN GP40-2LW 4053 & 4055 (4055 has some damage after it hit a semi i believe)

here is a pic of 4055 w/ the damage

http://rrpicturearchives.net/showPicture.aspx?id=1066331

IORY 4008 is w/ the TPW

3878 has been seen on the CERA (winnamac southern, a sister road)

the rail link one is 3874 it has been sitting in the East Peoria ever since they got it in Janurary they got CORP 3815 at the same  time I haven't seen 3874 out of the yard so i don't know what they are doing with it

the TPW traffic last week i seen a  train Monday through Wednesday EB towards Gilman and Indiana all around 10, 10:30PM through Eureka and i heard another one on Thursday (i think this one was WB) but my mom wasn't feeling good so i couldn't see it

im hoping TPW buys the CEFX units someday because i would hate to see them leave like the other 4 they had

the week before that i seen a train monday, tuesday and Thursdy thursday of course the windmill train

I forgot about the GP40-2LW's. I guess I haven't seen them in awhile. The tunnel motors might be contributing to track and bridge issues. Historically, TP&W had a four-axle fleet.

What is being done about track and bridge issues?

Also, do you know how often they get to Kokomo?

i know they are expected to fix track this year which is needs to be done the track was probably bad before the 6 axle power came the ties are horrible they are falling apart eroded away surprised there has been no derailments

i have no idea how much to go to kokomo if at all i know the railroad that goes down there (CERA) interchanges with the TPW in logansport

once track is fixed there could be an unit ethanol train on the TP&W from Pekin, IL (I'm guessing the TZPR will deliver to TP&W's East Peoria Yard then TPW will take it to Lafayette, IN to the CSX

I think we're still running the 1500 on the Adirondack....  Haven't seen it in a while, though.

hope you see some but TPW usually runs through there at night but you never know though the EB's usually come through eureka after dark and the WB's usually go through here about an hour after dawn gilman is over an hour away (RR speed which is 25 mph w/ 10 mph restrictions where needed) so they rarely go through gilman let alone watseka during the day

What is a windmill train?

What kind of prime mover put out the twanging noise in some of those video clips? Is it the type of stack or maybe a supercharger gone haywire.

The second question was just a sarcastic way of wondering why people have to put music over the sound track of EVERYTHING.

What does "T.P.& W. stand for?

Most of the engines say "Rail America".
