.....The precip that we recieve here Walt and from northeast of us...and between here and Indy for the most part, I believe flows into the White River and hence, then heads over to the Walbash....and of course then on into the Ohio down stream from you.

And the wide area south of Indy....Columbus, Seymour,Greensburg, etc.....will be flowing into the {east branch of the White River}, and also enter the Walbash south of Vincennes and on down to the Ohio, again down river of you....I suppose just the area in south east Indiana {Madison, etc...}, enters the Ohio upriver to you....Before taking a closer look at it, I was thinking you would see more of our runoff  from these storms but seems just a small % of it does....

Joe, glad everything seems to be alright up there. Hopefully you could stick around and help us decorate the Cafe for a Birthday today.

Haven't said anything about this one before, as we sort of wanted to keep

certain things (people) "In The Dark"!!

....A little weather / flooding update in our area:  South of indy in some areas have received 9 plus inches of rain....!!  Just was watching via Indy TV helicopter remote, of the area.....People stranded.....I-70 closed....I-65 closed.....massive flooding down in the area south of Indy.  The news helicopter flew over a large area and the water was up to the eves of the houses.  Just  heard of a lady in labor and people trying to get to her to get her out and to the hospital....Power lines down...{even in our area}, many without power....and I'm amazed we continue{d}, to have power.  3 semi's were blowned over and off I -69 just northwest of us.....{last evening}. My rain gauge {from last evening}, is minor compared with all I've mentioned above...1.45".

Walt....You can be glad all this precip is not entering upstream from you.....

One order of curly fries coming right up!

Today was my fifth day of work. It also finished my first week. I worked the fry station Tuesday, Wednesday, Thursday, and Today. Yesterday I worked as the order taker/cashier at the front counter. I had a total of 30 hours at $6.75 an hour this week, so not too bad. Now I have tomorrow and Monday off before I go back on Tuesday.

And thank you all for being honest about the waving thread. It is never my intent to create bad feelings in this forum, so that's why I was rather shocked when I got up this morning and checked that thread. Hopefully it will die soon so that I can leave it behind and move on.

Some years ago we were on a boat ride from Madison down to Lousiville for an overnight stay and went back the next day....Someone pointed out up on some structure of the high water mark during the '37 flood and it was pretty shockingly high...

Where we live now, and have for 20 years; the Ohio was within about 4 blocks

of this house, and we are several miles from the river. They were using boats almost

to Churchill Downs at that time.

The L & N  and other railroads that ran in here, put relief trains on viaducts that were

already here, and the highest ground they could find.

Amazing how many of the city's viaducts now bear the build date of 1937.

.....The next to last devastating flood back in my home area of Johnstown occured in the spring of 1936.

Down town {in Johnstown}, the city hall {large stone building}, has 3 brass markers on one corner of the building.....The high water mark for:  1889.....1936....and 1977.  The first one is up to the 2nd floor windows height.  That's when a dam let go up river 14 or so miles away and poured it's water down the valley, etc.....and killed over 2,200 people.  Even the last flood of '77, I believe the fatalities numbers were 81....!

used to be very wealthy, I'm a bit "Gun Shy"; (look at Ed McMahon)

Well, a decent day on the railroad.  Wish I could tell you about the passengers, but I hardly saw them.  We had a trainee trainman, which left me as the only "qualified employee" to ride the locomotive with the engineer.  Running an ALCO C425 long hood forward certainly gives one an idea of what it was like to ride on a steamer (we'll skip the smoke part).  Didn't have to shovel coal, however.

Hot and muggy here today - up in the mountains the humidity wasn't so bad, though.  Wish we'd get a little breeze to push some of this heat out of the house.  Walking the dog will be a pleasant experience.

Willy - I'll stop over to the "waving" thread, but I doubt you were in the wrong - some people just aren't public relations types...

MC - happy birthday!

Q, just saw on the news of the flooding south of Indy, looks like a big mess.

I'm semi-familiar with that area.

Larry, very "Muggy" here today also, a good breeze would have been more than welcome.

I'm sure that the "Crusader's" on the road blocks would have welcomed it.

Happy Birthday Sir Chicken!!

Q: Why did the Chicken cross the road?

A: to get to his Birthday Celebration!  Happy B-Day [bday]

Just stopping by to say HOWDY!!!

Long shift (24 hrs.) at the ambulance Co. then on my way home I gave a fellow Emt a ride home and then stopped at a store 25 miles from home and my wifes car died, called my Emt buddies to bring out an ambulance for a jump and it would not turn over, called for a tow and finally got home 4 hours late....ugh, awful day.

Lets hope I don't see another one like that for a long time, on an up note, my partner and I almost delivered a baby last night, if we would have gotten to her 5 minutes later we would have been delivering him in the back of our rig...whew...close one, she had the baby in the Er...yikes, it was a boy, 8Lbs 6 oz. no name yet, but Mom and baby are doing great!

I'll be by for coffee tomorrow morning, until then have a great night!

I've made my last post in there. I think the quieter I am, the faster it will just go away. I'm not sure why they think they have to speculate that I'm "stressed and angry" because "school is getting to him". The truth is that I was neither stressed nor angry last night when I posted, but I am stressed now, since they all started going after me. Ugh! I'm going to bed.

Am I missing something here?  I don't mean to be disrespectful, but is this forum a private club where everyone talks about other posters?

I mean, you are of course entitled to your opinion(s), but I find the manner that this is done to be somewhat troublesome.

Just my take on things.  When I'm working on the railroad, I am expected to wave, and get my picture taken a lot.  And perform safely.  Somehow we all manage to accomplish it all and everyone goes home every night.

Good Sunday morning, everyone!  Your right, Joe:  another steamy, sticky, day ahead.

Thanks for making more lemonade, too!  On hot days like the last few, lemonade is always a thirst quencher.  Hope you and Matt have a great time at the Auglaize Village.

And thank you, Joe, for making the cinnamon rolls, coffee and juice.

Do I have any requests for Sunday Dinner today?

Sure do hope that everyone in Southern Indiana are all safe & sound this morning.  Saw video last night, of all the flooding, on the late news.
