Forums also work better when people keep their noses out of other peoples business. First you criticized someone on the bridge thread for riding in the cab of an engine, stating that it was illegal (DUH!) and acting all innocent like you didn't know that it happened all the time and was integral to many people growing up. Thats what really miffed me. Then you come on here in a witch hunt against another forum member for his signature, which goes to a popular hangout for people on this forum, not anti-railfan at all, something you randomly made up and said was concerning. Worry about yourself and things that concern you. Threads getting locked? Legitimate concern. People riding in cabs of engines? Not your business.

I dunno schlimm.  I"m still wishin'  I had the siren.  I'm not going to debate the issue-it would be pointless.  The volunteer moderators are human.

You didn't even read my post.   I said I was sick of the thread, and explained perhaps why I would have locked the thread.  Selector locked the thread.  You'll have to ask Selector why he did.  Have a nice day.

Thanks to Chris / CopCarSS for my avatar.

I did read your post and I never thought or suggested you had locked it.  I didn't ask you why. I know it was Crandell.  I asked for an explanation why.  But it appears that is not important enough to get anything more than sarcasm.

It's always a terrible day when you realize that the world doesn't revolve around a trains forum...

It's been fun.  But it isn't much fun anymore.   Signing off for now.

Thank you for your comment.  This is, last I looked, supposed to be a public forum, not a closed little group for railroaders and their sycophants.   If members engage in acts that appear to be illegal, what is wrong with asking?  He explained that he had permission, so that is just fine.  I was not aware that "it happened all the time"  if by that you mean having outsiders ride in cabs with authorization.  But according to your line of reasoning, asking questions about a public operation is sticking your nose into others' business.  BTW, I think Murray does a fine job taking care of himself without your help.

Wrong?  Maybe not.  Petty?  I believe so.

It is sticking your nose into other peoples business. Having unauthorized cab riders happened all the time. Maybe you are the guy who lives under that rock in the Geico commercials.
By Schlimm: BTW, I think Murray does a fine job taking care of himself without your help.
Now what I find is interesting, is that you just said that everyone can express their opinions, yet when i express mine, I am criticized by you. You remind me of Daniel Valentine.

I'd opine that the thread was shut down because it was getting circular.  Usually when that happens people get unhappy that their opinion isn't carrying the day and start sniping at people instead of ideas.

The thread in question had, in my opinion, exhausted most of the possibilities.  Yet it refused to die on its own.

Bingo!!!  We have a winnerrrrrr!!!!!

And, on the matter of that thread having 3000 or more posts, it was turning into a circus, and the curious were lifting the tent aprons and peaking under them to see what all the ruckus was about.  Lots of curious onlookers.   Some of them more than once. Indifferent

Let's move on....
