Kankakee ILLINOIS????

  • Is anyone Here from around Kankakee ILLINOIS. My Question Is If You go west of Kankakee on RT 17, west to Herscher Blacktop(The road to Herscher) on the tracks there is a sign on the post that says KIRT It says it vertically. Does anyone Know what this means.

  • Well it certainly isn't a railroad related instruction like a whistle post that I have ever heard of.  The only thing I can think of is possibly a named location to identify the location of a train or a location to report when reached.
