This is for all you Ham Radio Operater who may not know their is 2 Railfans Trains nets that I know of . If any of you are instrested in these nets. The first is on 147.000 reapter in Bellafountaine, Oh this net is on 8:30pm monday nights. The other is on
I.R.L.P Reflector 9454 Sunday Nights 21:00 ET Ham radio operators who are railfans now have a place to gather on the air to discuss their latest sightings, rail history, modeling, or whatever railroad hobby topic comes up on the RailHam Roundtable.
The Internet Radio Linking Project allows hams around the world t0 converse in real-time via voice-over-i.p. technology.
How many of you who read this post on Trains Are Hams. I am an avid railfan & Model Railroader & Amateur Radio operater. Lets take a count and see how many we can get.

I don't usally talk on a Ham Radio, as I don't own one (maybe someday), but would like to, but I might see if I can't get the signal in on My scanner and listen to it, it would be neat.

Rick, good to see a few ham radio operator on this thread. My call is WB0QPI,and I have been hamming since 1973 with a Advance Class License. I have been an avid railroad fan ever since I was a teenager, when my home was in Detroit. I am Buckeye by birth, but never lived in Ohio. My birthplace is Urbana, just south of Bellefontaine. Whenever I can I try to check into the Thursday night Urbana net via Echolink. When I was a kid my aunt and I rode the Michigan Central-Big Four train to Urbana and back to Detroit. I try to keep abreast of the NYC,C&O,B&O,GTW and PRR then and now. I am not too active on HF,due to the fact it is very difficult to operate out of the 4th floor high rise apartment here in Denver, but I am working on it,because I really miss working hf. Good to meet you Rick. Keep in touch here or Echolink,my node no. is 64794.

I am a No code Tech KB7WDI and have loved trains & railroading about as long as I have been interested in Ham radio. Was born in Buffalo, NY near CN tracks & now live in a UP town where UP runs right through the center of town.
Wish Amtrack still passed through here but Washington killed that. I would love to hop aboard & visit Portland & return.

There was a guy that was working on publishing an informal list of common freqs for train fans to talk to each other on... Everything from FRS to 2M. That way people would always now what freq/channels to check while out, no matter where they were. I thought it was a good idea, but I never heard anything more about it.
