  • I don't usally talk on a Ham Radio, as I don't own one (maybe someday), but would like to, but I might see if I can't get the signal in on My scanner and listen to it, it would be neat.

  • Rick, good to see a few ham radio operator on this thread. My call is WB0QPI,and I have been hamming since 1973 with a Advance Class License. I have been an avid railroad fan ever since I was a teenager, when my home was in Detroit. I am Buckeye by birth, but never lived in Ohio. My birthplace is Urbana, just south of Bellefontaine. Whenever I can I try to check into the Thursday night Urbana net via Echolink. When I was a kid my aunt and I rode the Michigan Central-Big Four train to Urbana and back to Detroit. I try to keep abreast of the NYC,C&O,B&O,GTW and PRR then and now. I am not too active on HF,due to the fact it is very difficult to operate out of the 4th floor high rise apartment here in Denver, but I am working on it,because I really miss working hf. Good to meet you Rick. Keep in touch here or Echolink,my node no. is 64794.
  • I am a No code Tech KB7WDI and have loved trains & railroading about as long as I have been interested in Ham radio. Was born in Buffalo, NY near CN tracks & now live in a UP town where UP runs right through the center of town.
Wish Amtrack still passed through here but Washington killed that. I would love to hop aboard & visit Portland & return.

  • There was a guy that was working on publishing an informal list of common freqs for train fans to talk to each other on... Everything from FRS to 2M. That way people would always now what freq/channels to check while out, no matter where they were. I thought it was a good idea, but I never heard anything more about it.
