Took my wife to Michigan City Indiana to the outlet mall today.  On I-94 around route 49 on the eastbound side is a huge billboard plugging the South Shore with what appeared to be a full size cutout of a front view of one of their GP-38's.  Both ditchlights and the headlight were on.  Very impressive.  While at the mall an Amtrak train from Michigan came by with a Ge on the west end and a cabbage on the east end.  Came back route 12 through the dunes and was surprised to see two freights waiting on the main by the old Bethlehem Steel plant.  At Portage I came back to the Amtrak train that must have been sitting there for at least an hour and possibly two.  Saw three more freights stopped between there and Gary on the old NYC mains.  Have no idea what the cause was.

I am waiting for my new (same Day) Canon 10 mp EOS to come back from repair to take some shots of it.

Yes along US 12 you see a lot of railroad action East of Miller to Michigan City, In.

I'd like to see a picture of it. There are a few billboards down here advertising tourist railroads.

Here are two shots of the bilborad in Indiana I-94 mile marker 13.

When I first seen it all four lights were on steady. When shot they were off.

The date on the billboard is correct, too.  South Shore opened for business in 1908 as the Chicago Lake Shore and South Bend but did not begin freight service until 1916, using two box-cab motors that were later sold to the St. Clair Tunnel Co. when South Shore converted from AC to DC in 1926.

I was also heading to Michigan City to see the street running and saw this billboards. Pretty neat looking billboard I have to say. The strange thing is that I saw 2007, the engine on the billboard, sitting by Carroll Avenue.
