Here is the full story as to what the plan for WC 7525 is. First off, it will be staying in WC paint, sounds like perminantly. It currently needs a few minor things done before it will operate, but it should be in full operation by next year pulling the museum's passenger trains. Just another reason for me to visit IRM. I think this move will bring nothing but positive effects to the museum itself and anyone visiting. It won't be operating this Saturday but I will probably head up there and get photos of it anyway. I really can't wait for diesel days to see it operating in the diesel parade among all of the other engines there. Here it is before its first retirement back in August of 2006, 5th out on a sounthbound manifest at Homewood.
Atmo, you should be hanged....
GEVOs are neat engines in their sound and performance, but its not very high up on my "SWEEEET" list. I'll take the CP GEVOs over CP AC44s, but thats about it. GEVOs suck, period.
I feel we dont need to comment further on this, as Im right. (smell the sarcasm?)

Haha, good one! I won't comment on that but you can imagine with BNSF GEVOs taking over the lead of trains around here you can imagine what I would say. Recent photos coming soon, I keep forgetting to post them on rrpicturearchives! I'll try to remember this time. Meanwhile, here is another photo with IRM's newest engine, WC 7525 in it, sitting in the deadline at Homewood behind a NREX C39-8.
well i had the ortho in neenah today after school. as always gotta get some trains. when i got thier i missed oen go through & i heard WC 3006 called & i wish i would of got it. then at the yard their was a WC GP40 switchin but it was back far in the yard & i didnt get that. well their was another train waiting for the other one to pass & it was CN 2636 i was able to get a head on & side shot. i also talked to the crew & they were headed up to Superior.
then to the ortho & when i was their i missed 408 come through & 2500 was on it. i found this out by tracing.
back to the yard IC 6136 was switching
then on the way home 411 was sitting at strobe sideding in appleton but their wasnt a rd to get a pic of it.
well in hortonville i saw GTW 5859 working some mow equipment it looked like they were tearing up some stuff next to the line possibly for the work that they will be doing soon. closest shot i could get.
Great shots, Brent! Well, the news lately has had a lot to do with WC 7525, but here are some more photos from this past weekend. Yes, I finally remembered to post them!
Many people think CN didn't retire many IC engines when they took them over, but they retired any GP10, GP11, or SD20 still remaining on the IC. Here is a GP10 and caboose on display. CN donated these to the ciy and painted them. They look pretty good.
Two of EJ&E's SW1200s, 310 and 322, sit at Joliet Yard
More EJ&E SW1200 action, with SW1200 312, Slug T-2, and visiting BRC SD40-2 560 switch the yard.
In Brookfield, a BNSF SD70MAC leads a coal train eastbound.
A very nice trio of BN SD40-2s, all patched, head west.
At LaVergne station in Berwyn NS 9160 heads west.
Onto to some more shots from Chicago, Amtrak P32 516 and a beat up P42 wait for assignments.
Amtrak 500 and other engines wait under the Chicago skyline.
While SD40s and GP39s (and pretty much all other EMDs) are much prefered over anything ever produced from GE's factory, to me any BNSF GEVO with the new logo is welcome over the parade of AC4400s on the BNSF. Catching the three SD40s together was kind of neat I thought, though it would have been better had they been on their own...
Brent, I think the MoW equipment in that last shot is a locomotive pushing a Jordan Spreader. Sure looks likes like the ditcher wings sticking out to the side to me, probably grading ballast or removing some weeds and brush.
Neat shots too Robby. I've got to get down to Amtrak's little facility in front of the Sears Tower the next time I get to Chicago, it's got lots of neat angles.

NOOO!!! someone doesnt share my opinion! he should be hanged for that! sheesh
naoh, your mainstay is BNSF, CN, and CP? i thoguht you lived near the adams sub. wouldnt you catch UP power too? and NS as well?
Your friendly neighborhood CNW fan.

Not quite...my camera is permanently dead and now I am totally unable to take a good photo... *sigh*
Go here for my rail shots! http://www.railpictures.net/showphotos.php?userid=9296

Wow, Matt..........that is like my shotgun's ejector blade breakin on me. That sucks dude. My sypathies.

Sorry to hear about that camera. Lord Atmo, I (along with most that don't like the GEVOS) live a reasonable distance from the BNSF and CP. CP's Bensenville yard is about 45 minutes to a hour away depending on traffic, and the BNSF runs through Joliet Union Station. GEVOs are taking over everything it seems, at least everything that doesn't have a Dash 9, or in CP's case anything that doesn't have a AC44 leading. Like I said before, to me, a GEVO is basically a Dash 9 or AC44 with a bigger radiator, thats it. Plus they are invading the EJ&E more and more. I'll take a SD70MAC or SD70ACe leading over a GEVO any day, but I'll take a SD40-2 over any of those, but I do understand that GEVOs don't come your way a lot, so I would probably enjoy them more if I were in that situation. The H3 looks ok on GEVOs but I like it much better on the 2000 series GP38-2s. Same thing goes on CSX. I like the YN3 on older power (almost looks like the C&O!), and YN2 on widecabs.
Atmo, the closest major line to me is actually the CP, at about 20 miles away (well, the WSOR at one mile from me is really the closest, but that's only served three times a week). The UP is probably the next closest at about 40 miles away (to Adams). Considering how light the traffic is though, it's hard to count it as one of my mainstays. I do catch a few trains on it from time to time, but if you were to look at my photo collection, the much larger percentages would be BNSF and CP, followed by the CN and UP...
NS/Conrail/CSX don't really count as mainstays either in my book. Most of what I see of that stuff is run through power on the BNSF, and even that is a lot less common.
Matt, that's too bad to hear. Any chance of a new camera anytime soon? You without a camera just isn't right with your talents...
