meh i considered WC as good as dead as soon as the SD45s were gone. not unlike how i consider CNW dead without any spartan cabs left
on that note, mr. ugly (AKA 8701) was in Altoona again. i saw it...whatever
but this weekend shall be promising indeed. for i am venturing south to the mississippi for the steam doubleheader. and hopefully lots of BNSF crash 9s in action! i have almost no BNSF crash 9s in my photo roster and it really sucks cuz i greatly admire those units and hardly ever get to see them!
Your friendly neighborhood CNW fan.

In my opinion WC will never die. As long as there are people who remember WC it's, still alive. WC maybe dead equpiment wise (that's what I think your saying) but she won't be dead untill every last WC "fan" is gone. Same with CNW.

With all the talk IRM getting 7525, its easy to forget that there will be a Rock Island GP7 joining it and the rest of IRM's interesting collection of interesting and in some cases unique engines. If anyone else is planning a trip there this weekend (I know most of you will be getting the doubleheader, the museum will be open until 11PM, but the nightime operations will be open to members only, so be aware of that. Should be a great weekend. IRM is probably going to keep what is running a secret as they can pull out about anything that can operate. I have a feeling that if CN doesn't strip 7525 of parts, the most likely time for it to run other then test runs not open to the public would be Diesel Days next July, but that is still a long way away. Expect lots of photos on here Saturday night. I expect to be seeing lots of photos of the doubleheader Saturday.
They will.

Or you could come up here and possibly get in the cab like I let Atmo do. And get pictures of it. Etc.

We are still trying to get up there. But for sure it won't be this year. We had to move my sister into collage on my Parents vacation week. So we couldn't do much.

eh whatever part of CNW is still alive is nothing i give a rip about
aw man was that ever a fun time, max. i devoted almost my whole day to exploring 7495. i got pics of its innards, front, back, top, everywhere. even that nice shot of me at the controls.
the part of WC i liked may be dead from revenue service to me, but at least i still got to say goodbye.
and where WC dies, NP is reborn!
Not trying to start anything myself, but can we not go into this again? I understand and respect that you have an opinion on the whole CNW thing Max, and that's perfectly fine, but we've been over this at least three times that I can think of off the top of my head, if not more. I'd kind of hoped that was done and gone, and I'd just assume not devote the next couple of pages of this topic to that again. Talking about the CNW and WC and what's happen with former units is one thing, but the whole arguement about what is and isn't the CNW gets old after a while..
Anyway, I saw the WC 7495 while up in Duluth too, though it was back out of the way at the time, not a good spot for photos. But it was still neat to see, and I was glad to see at least one at a museum. Now that you guys have the SOO 2719 up and running, and should have a NP SD45, I'll have to get up there again sometime (not to mention to go after the former DMIR again too)....
While we're on the subject of dead and dying railroads, according to the orerail list the DMIR 301 and DMIR 419 have both been retired in the CN computer as of September 1st. The 301 (a SDM) apparently suffered a major failure of some sort back in July, and I'm told the 419 was one of the SD40-3s that the CN only leased, not owned, so I assume they simply decided to get rid of it. Rumor still persists that the grey WC/GCFX SD40-3s are supposed to be coming sometime soon as well...

all i said was 1 sentence. then i went off and devoted most of the rest of the post to a more worthwile discussion. i was trying to divert the subject away from a rant
IRM is really getting a WC SD45? or is this just a rumor? and are they keeping it in WC paint?
in other related news, i just discovered the wonder of BN tiger stripes
so pretty.....
too bad they're all gone. BN in it's prime. nothing like it. w00t
IRM is supposed to be getting a SD45, the 7525 if I remember right. At least that's what was posted to the IRM yahoo group (and I saw a message second hand from it). My guess is it'll end up in about the same condition as the LSRM's (stripped of all usable parts), but at least the shell will be preserved...
The tiger stripe BN's are one of those I wouldn't have minded seeing in person. Somehow the orange and green doesn't seem to look all that perfect together to me, but it is still kind of neat. Different anyway.
i heard IRM didnt want any more static displays. oh well. an SD45 is still an SD45. and if it remains in maroon and gold, it'll be the best SD45 ever.
orange and green do seem odd together. but it was nonetheless unique
