Whoops, forgot one! Here is the 2816 pulling around the new IHB connector getting ready for the underpass dedication. I'm going to be nearby where they are running, so I'll probably head out and see it again on the 2nd.
Hey guys. Well Yesterday I got to go to Rochelle Ill. I got alot of pictures so if they don't load just right click on the picture and click, open link.
First we stoped at Stevens Point, where I cought a CN SD75i Leading a Standard cab SD40-2. I didn't get a picture of both loco cuze my camera took a funky picture. There where 3 WC's there, but they where the switcher 1552, 1560, and 1562. All of which I have several angles of.
Our fist train at Rochelle was of 2 UP Dash 8s going VERY SLOW.
Next one was of a UP coal train carrying alot of old Mo-Pac cars and some CNW ones.
Again was another UP. This one took me by suprise so I had to take the picture from the parking lot.
FINALLY!! A BNSF, with 3 BN units, and a ATSF Blue Bonnet.
A BNSF train with a new "Wedge" Scheme and a unpatched ATSF war bonnet was on the other train, but it was on the oppsite track.
Well a UP train come rolling through with 6 UP units. When I took the picture the 4 unit looked kinda odd.
So I take another picture of it. Come to find out yesterday that it was the UP United Way loco. I think.

This one had a Helper on it.
Nest was a BNSF train, but the second unit had a OLD BNSF paint scheme.
Again, snother UP. But this one has 2 CSX loco. One with the old scheme, and one with the next Scheme.
Yay, another BNSF train. Again it was the Dash 9s. Looks like this unit had some Fire dammage by the DB.
Thankfully there was another BNSF. This one had the Next Wedge scheme, and a Bn SD40-2.
More UP Dash 8s.
Yet again another UP train.
This on also had a Helper.
Another UP train came. But I didn't get a good picture of it.
2 UP SD40-2s came. Man UP was friendly today, they gave me alot of 2nd Generatition power!
After that train, another UP came. But this one was spical. It has a UP SD40-2 leading, a Ex CNW SD40-2, a Conrail SD60, and a NS Dash 9. But sadly I ran out of batterie on my digtal. But atleast ym dad got it. But the film has to be devloped.
Next was yet another UP train. But this one had a Ex CNW dash 9 on it.
Yet again, was another UP. But this one had 2 SD70ACes.
Another UP came through. I didn't get a good picture of it.
Another SD70ACe came.
A BNSF came with 2 Dash 9s. But again. I didn't get a good picture.
Last train of the day was a UP.
Well that's my report. Nice pictures Noah, and EJE818! Well school Starts Tuesday, and it will be a bummer. No more picture from me. Maybe a few ocasional trips to Point but idk. Can't wait unit Christmas. Then I'll come back with some Moffet Tunnel pictures.

Neat pictures Robby. Can't say I've ever seen anything like the bridge dedication either. That's quite unique alright.
WC, some neat shots in there. Looks like you had a pretty good trip. That is the United Way locomotive too. I heard it just made a couple of trips to Milwaukee not to long ago too.
I went down to the Brewers Game in Milwaukee today (which they won 7-4, thankfully), though I didn't do much railfanning. The Stadium parking lot sits on the old Milwaukee Road shops though, so you can see the CP main line right near by. Did get to see a few trains while tailgating, but no shots.

Great catch on the United Way SD40-2, Jordan, and also nice shots! As I said before, I was in the area not too far away from the CP mainline visiting relatives so I decided to go to Sturtevant again to track down the 2816 again. Here are some shots.
Before the 2816 pulled in, two Amtrak Hiawathas had to get through, the first was led by Phase V NPCU 90221, passong by the old depot.
The second Hiawatha heading towards Milwaukee had a P42 leading, but the main prize was Phase III NPCU 90368, the one that went towards Chicago the previous day, on the rear of the train.
Right after the Hiawatha with the Phase III NPCU on it cleared, 2816 pulled on in.
Here is a shot of the skydome on the back of the train at Sturtevant.
After doing a photo runby at about 50 MPH, 2816 turns on the wye preparing to head back to Franklin Park.
I doubt I am going to go see it tommorow (I really want to see it every chance I get, believe me), but if I do, I'll make sure I get more photos. If anyone needs any information on the routing of the trips tommorow, Tuesday, Wenesday the 9th, and the 15th (double header on the 15th I should say), I have a good booklet that shows points the 2816 will be passing through in the Chicago and Minneapolis/St. Paul areas, plus points in between. I don't know much about the area anywhere north of Mauston, WI, but I'm sure some of you would recognize the location names better then me. There aren't any exact times yet but I have heard for the Tuesday trip the train will be leaving Chicago pretty early.
Noah, many people are saying they overdid the bridge dedication, but I feel they did a great job with it. The reason it was such a big celebration is becuase it took such a long time for the tracks to be re-aligned and the underpass to be built. Seemed like they were working on that project forever, so they had good reason for the celebration.

ya its a bummer summer is already over. ill prolly go somwhere on a weekend if i find time. on half days of school ill prolly take trips to Dale. plus i have half days everyother wednesday a month. ya thats wierd how they do it for us. ya school starts tomorrow for me as well. freshman year should be fun hopefully. im taking this autocad designing class so i might be able to design some stuff w/ trains.
Technically on the 15th the double header won't be going to La Crosse, but rather LaCrescent, MN, which is just across the river (It's easier to say La Crosse though, as nobody knows where LaCrescent is unless you're local). That's where the wye is to turn the train before the run back North. They never actually get over the river into La Crosse, or at least they never have in years past.
Well, today was the final day of the trips from Franklin Park to Sturtevant, so I decided to catch it again, but this time at Bensenville. The engine was due to get water at B17 and it did just that, but the first stop of the day was Proviso Yard to see what was there, and when I pulled up to Berkeley station, you could imagine how surprized I was when I saw CNW 8646 and CNW 8701 together sitting right by the depot. Here are two shots of those.
Then it was off to Bensenville to catch the 2816 once again. Here it is pulling up to B17. Notice it dropped the passenger cars at Bensenville Yard.
Here it is taking on water at Bensenville with steam coming out both sides.
The old meets the new as CP ES44AC 8795 passes by the 2816 at B17.
All in all, a great, enjoyable and memorable Labor Day weekend with lots of steam and other rare trains such as the CNWs and Phase III NPCUs thrown in, all with picture perfect weather thown in to top it off, plus a very enjoyable ride Saturday. What a great way to end the summer. Hopefully everything in Minnesota goes just as well. I really hope that some day the 2816 comes back to Chicago. Now we get to kick off Autumn with a WC SD45 coming up to IRM. Should be another great season for railfanning. School may be starting soon, but thats not going to stop me from railfanning after school weekdays and all day weekends.
Noah, you were talking about the other CNW GP7 IRM has, it is indeed the first production GP7, the 1518. They also have the first production SD7 in SP paint. Ironically, its SP 1518. It just seemt to me that it is a very odd coincidence that both the first production GP7 and SD7 are there, and they are both number 1518! They are currently working on getting the CNW 1518 operational. I just found out yesterday also that the MN&S Centercab has bad wiring and one of the motors doesn't work so it is currently out of service, but when time permits they are going to fix it and get it back in operation.
The 2816 made it's return trip to La Crosse (and eventually St. Paul) today, and since school doesn't start til tomorrow and it being a perfectly sunny day I figured I had to go after him again.
Before I caught the 2816 I caught Amtrak and a couple of freights (I'll post links to those to save the dial up users. The pages get awfully full of photos lately, which is a good thing!):

Needless to say, I'm pleased! The light could have been a touch better, but I'm not complaining, since it could have been worse had he arrived on schedule. Sure was a sight to see, and I wish I had video!
Back to the salt mines for me tomorrow, but today wasn't a bad end to summer. Now to go after the doubleheader in a couple of weeks, and then there's fall photos that aren't too much further away, and snow shots after that, and....
Ugh, stop and send her back already! I miss her!
Then again, once she's back, she'll probably be put in temporary storage because good ol' Fred Green is scaling back fan trips...I MISS ROB RITCHIE!

Noah, more great shot of 2816! I already miss it being in the Chicago area, and its only been two days! I don't know whats going on with the September 9th trip. A CP police officer told me 261 was going to be on the train, but the schedule says 2816 will be on it. We'll see what happens. I don't mind all the photos at all (even though I know I've been responsible for quite a few myself). If any of you like links better, I'll just post those instead, I have no problem with doing that. Keep the photos coming, I really enjoy looking at them.
Well, O've been kid of busy lately with school, but currently I am preparing a presentation as I am going to be presenting a powerpoint for our chapter of the NRHS. I went by CSX's Rockdale Yard today, but I haven't had any time to put the photos online. I will post the photos when I get the chance to. I'm probably going to be busy all weekend so there isn't going to be much time for railfanning if any at all for me.
