Managed to make it up to the Cumbres and Toltec in Colorado. Nice to see it running - even with only one engine and no funding support from Colorado. Beautiful ride and we only started a few spot fires - not to mention getting an extra three hours of running since due to a bad bearing and bad traction up the grades.

With my 4 years old son Thomas,( the tank engine!), we rode the Hull-Chelsea-Wakefield steam train in western Quebec, north of Ottawa. The train is pulled by a 100 years old swedish-made 2-8-0 with buffers. The cars
are heavyweights from the twenties. The ride along scenic Outawais river
is lovely. It is a half a day ride with entertainement on bord.

I didn't go anywhere. Soon, though, when I round up the funds and the time, I hope to visit Horseshoe Curve in PA. Does anybody who's been there or knows much about the area have any advice/suggestions? Thank you.

visited strasburg, pa. went thru the choo-choo barn and toy train museum.
the choo-choo barn is well worth visiting, has 20 operating trains and 150 animations on the lay-out.

I rode the Algoma Central "Tour of the Line" from Saulte Ste. Marie, Ont. to the end of the line at Hearst, Ontario. the weather and scenery was perfect. The crew going North were not very friendly, and limited access to the viewing platform on the last car. Coming South, with a different and friendlier crew, I was able to take many photos from the open end of the train. i am already planning a return trip on the Algoma Central soon.

Illinois Railraod Museum in Union, IL and many visit to Rochelle, IL train park to view the double track, at grade, crossing of the UP and BNSF. ( Over 95 trains a day go across the diamond)

Me and the family went to Steamtown, Pa. I must say I wasn't prepared for what was there, it was unbelievable. It was kind of an afterthought for a family vacation, just somewhere to spend a couple of hours before heading home, well we were there for over 6 well spent hours.
We bought a video of my sons choice (he's 4), thinking he would choose Thomas or something similar, instead he took one all about the Alyth Yard (CP) in Calgary. It's full of technical stuff and things which I thought would bore a young child, but he watches it almost everyday. I love it too!!!
We also took the York Durham train from Uxbridge which is an old Alco with some vintage passenger cars.
We wanted to go on a steam engine tour, but that has to wait till next year now.

I'm also into modelling so there are alot of train shows as well.
