TEEN RAILFAN PLACE-LET'S TALK TRAINS! Thread Locked

  • I already did and explained why. You keep saying it's their right, and you never come up and say "Oh, it's nice that they haven't repainted the other two yet"
You're also being passive - "Yeah, myabe there is a bit of history, but what can you do?" According to you, nothing. By your rules, the UP heritage fleet shouldn't even exist.
Whenever anybody says something like "Those UP corporate big cats have desecrated another unit" you hop right to their defense. Without being bidden, you defend it. It's hard to defend something you don't support, especially in a place like this.

  • Goodbye
  • Again sorry about matt. He had to wreck the topic
  • Alexander, I'd say it's BOTH your faults, don't just try to pass this off on Matt. He suggested going somewhere else, but you wouldn't go anywhere but your own forum, I can't blame him for not wanting to do that. It's just as much your fault as it is his. After all, you should take the board out of your own eye before the sliver out of the eye of another person. How about apologising for yourself too?

Anyway, for both of you, I've got an idea. Instead of a forum, you both have a little tag on the bottom of your posts that says "EMAIL." Try using that! There no one has moterator power and it won't degrade any forum, including this one.

I hope you two can solve this peacefully. You are a good supporter of this forum and I wouldn't want to lose either of you. (although I do think that from what I see as an impartial observer, Matt's arguments have better points in this case). Hopefully you two can come back with this out of your system though.

BTW, I don't mean to offend anyone by this post, it's just a few helpful suggestions. Can we get back to Trains now?

  • I think we should. Went railfanning at the south end of Saunders in Superior, Wisconsin.
Those trains really come flying through!!!!! My word!! The locomotives, by the time they reach the crossing at south Saunders, are floored and running at about 40 mph. I hope to have the pictures on here in the next month. There pretty nice shots too.

  • Something all you whining babies dont realize is ITS PAINT FOR GODSAKES!! NOT LIKE THEY ARE BEING SCRAPPED! MY GOD! You dont hear me ***in about how CN is reapinted all of DMIR now do you?

O, and for you WC junkies, I found this:http://www.mmarail.com/

  • Yes it is just paint. It's the fact that it's no longes a C&NW unit. If they would've left the CNW logo, and just re-numbered it, I'd be happier.

alex, UP CAN do anything they want, it's the fact that they must not care about preserving any road other that UP (look they've got a whole bunch of UP vintage passenger car, UP E units, UP 4-8-4, UP 4-6-6-4). Sure they're coming out with the heritage units (yawn), but I thnik it's be better to leave on of the ORIGINAL CNW units as it is (and NOT a DASH9).

Oh, we're already using that for another purpose, and that particular discussion isn't quite as nice...
    But yes, back to trains.
Max, yeah, it is just paint. But that's what gives an engine its character, its personality. That's why CP runs the F7s and GP38-2 3084 in the old scheme, because it's historical and says things about the engine. Paint matters. That's why people say "Saw my first H3 today" or "Caught the last ATSF today" or such.

  • Man, we made to 105 pages quick! I checked like two days ago and we only were starting on page 103!

Oskar - my friend, Tom Habak, went to Berea, OH today and saw CSX 8889 as the second unit on a five unit lash-up pulling a manifest.

Also, while out he saw a weird RFRX B23-7 in the middle of the train. Here is a link to the pic he took of it:
    http://habak.rrpicturearchives.net/showPicture.aspx?id=402977

It was in the middle of the train, do you have any ideas of what in the world this unit might be?

    Here is the 8889:

While browsing rrpicturearchives the other day, I came across another former SD45-2 just like the 8889. The other is 8886. I did not expect this at all.

    Tom also saw this today:

    Enjoy!!

    ..................

EDIT: Just so you know, the MPEX MK5000C is here in OH because he saw that unit today, don't feel like fetchin' the link right now, sorry...

Again, sorry about the flame war.
Just so you know, on his forum he set my title to "Whiny little beggar Baby.

I have hated him ever since.
Oh yeah, Matt, guess what eric knows

  • Matt- right on. Paint gives the engine character.

Alex- i know they CAN paint over it. It's the fact that WHY should they?
