TEEN RAILFAN PLACE-LET'S TALK TRAINS! Thread Locked

Not just about railroad stuff either, and i am VERY good friends with the trainmaster down here so lets not say that "oh he knows cuz his dad works there". Max, its obvious that you wont stay in the same spot, but if you have enough seniority you can practicly hold a job as long as you keep bidding it. An engineer down here , Ed Patten, old rock island guy, has held the transfer job for YEARS. And money is a big deal if you want a nice house, nice cars, nice stuff. Im not debating that working for the DM&E wouldnt be fun. Not at all, im saying the SMARTER option. I even said myself that i wouldnt mind working for them , but money speaks and you'll all realise that some day.

Sometimes you need to think about, how would my family feel if I was gone for 6 days and only home for 2 days. I realize what you are saying and I agree but If you ever have a wife and kids you need to have a job were your home some of the time even when your on call. The kids need to see there father and the CN at the moment does not let you have allot of time. Now my dad is lucky at the moment that he is home every morning but this is because he is one of the top five in senority on this part of the railroad and he gets his pick of bids before the others do. The others have a harder life infront of them. They get the jobs were there called at night and go to work and when they come home, go to bed. That hurts a family very much. The family is probably the biggest part here.
I know most of you are wanting to have a family some day and I'm betting you do too Alec.[^]

This is the conclusion of this topic we will be moving on now.

Max- the bridge has come down. they took it down in 48 hours!!!! AHHHHH!!! oh well.

    Now on to other stuff.

Got another pic on railpics, just search BNSF 5025 and look for mine. I can get a couple more on there if i crop better also. Transfer had the WC 6905(SD40-3) and WC 6004(SD40-2). Caught the Minnesota Commercial and ill be seeing a coal load at 12:30. Hope you guys see the bridge before its done. What bridge is it anywho?

    Alec

Alec, basically any RR job you get will get you all that stuff. You dont need to be excessive if ya dont want to though.

  • No unforunately they won't be replacing the bridge for the Soo line, which has been gone for some time now through there. So I don't think there putting another bridge there for invisible trains to run across it. lol[:D] Sorry but the way you put it was like the Soo line was still running. There reworking the track so that it's easier to take in more trains and for them to leave easier.

NO ONE OWNS IT!!!!!!!!!!! It's that simple. The bridge is on the CN territory so they can do any thing they want with it. In other words, It's CN's bridge. So they tore it down for there purposes.

I hope that was a joke!

So I got that film back, the one with the pictures in Cranbrook..IT WAS OVEREXPOSED!!! Just as I feared from one minute after I took the pictures..totally blasted out..on the plus side, I now know that 15-20 seconds is the correct timing for MRR pics!
And now I'm sitting, waiting on ANOTHER roll of film..Argh, there's ALWAYS one that I'm waiting for!
On the plus side, I've taken about 50 pictures of trains in the past week, so I'm bound to have one or two good ones..I'm looking forward to one that I took yesterday, fully lit with a great mountain backdrop!
