  • Yep
  • That's my earliest memory! 3 CP SD40-2s working on the head of a coal train up the west side of Roger's pass, near beavermouth....I wish I could go back....
Haven't heard anything like that lately, I think, and think is the key word.

  • Run 8 is normal...
  • I work in a bike shop that's in a former depot at the summit of a 1% grade. It's fun to watch customers' faces when one goes by at run 8 15 feet away.

  • Yeah, a couple of Ex-Conrail C36-7's. They sounded as if they were about die.
  • Stop by Cassandra, PA and you'll hear it on almost every train going east.

  • How can you tell run8, from run 7 without being in the cab?
  • It's nothing compared to doubleheaded 2-8-2's at capacity.
  • Ahh I understand you enjoying that full throttle.

But STEAM rules when it is working under load.

BY THE PITCH OF THE DIESEL ENGINE WHEN IN RUN 8 IT PRODUCES A WISTLE IN THE ENGINE COMPARTMENT.
