HO wall mount

Brand new to model railroading, so forgive the dumb question: I'd like to run an HO train around the walls of my study --any kits available or advice re mounting, or should I just go to Home Depot and get some shelf brackets/0.5 inch plywood??

I'd probably go with 3/4" plywood, as it'll increse the stiffness of the shelf, and smooth out any irregularities as you mount the brackets. I'd also plan on covering it with foam, either 1/2" or 1" foam sheets to aid in quieting the track the train runs around the room, otherwise it could be a bit noisey.
I was toying with doing this as well, but settled in taking over an entire room for the layout.

For my 5 cents {aust`} worth I would suggest a stiffener under the Plywood between the wall
brackets to reduce if not stop any sagging, as well, I would suggest generous curves at the
room corners to induce smoother running and less derailments.
