I chose the SD40-2 because it was the first loco I saw that had six axles; that, with the combination of long "porches" made it appealing [8D][8D][8D].
And this was all
WAY
before I knew how popular they were with railroads and fans......heck, it was before I even knew what they were called.

I voted for the SD50,which was my favorite loco in the poll.My favorite second generation diesel is the F/FP45. My favorite second generation hood unit is the SD45.Most of the newer stuff, especially from GE basicly all looks the same. You should have put more older diesels in the poll.
Ride Amtrak. Cats Rule, Dogs Drool.

have to go with the CW-44-9AC...or as you have it listed...the AC4400CW... after running them for almost 4 years solid( with a few newer EMD locomotives tossed in from time to time) i have never had as many problems with them as i have had with the EMD tech-no-toaster locomotives...(sd70macs and sd80macs) in my oppinion the new GEs out proform the new EMD locomotives hands down...

SD40-2.
Comfortable.
Quiet (for an EMD).
Nice ride.
Good heaters (especially the sidewall).
Responds quickly to the throttle.
Extremely dependable (CNW's).

Out of what was listed, I voted for the SD-40-2 also.
When they were new, they were EVERYWHERE, looked silly (especially without dynamic brakes), and were knocking off ALCO's.
Funny how times change. They look just fine now, and are a the poster children for a solid, durable, and reliable design.
Now, when I browse the photo forums, I eagerly look to see which ones are still running around on NS with high noses, still in BN paint pulling hotshots on BNSF, in CSX's latest scheme, a UP snoot, a CN widenose, and which ancestry the leasers are.
They look good in IC black too.
Some day they'll all be gone from the class 1's, but it's great to see 30 plus year olds still earning their keep .

I choose the SD40-2 only because the SD45T-2 and SD40T-2 weren't on the list.
