Growing up in Western Pennsylvania, it was the B&O. After 28 years in Chicago, my favorites became the Milwaukee Road and the Rock Island, especially the Rock. It's a sad part of History that these lines are no longer around.

For railroads that are still in business the Union Pacific is my favorite and the Great Northern tops my list for railroads that are no longer running.
Yes we call it the Dinky. Why? Well cause it's dinky! Proud to be the official train geek of Princeton University!

Without a doubt, it is BNSF. Unfortunately, I don't live near a BNSF line. I consider it lucky to see a BNSF engine on a CSX line. Guess I have to move[:)]

I like all of North America's Railroads. My favorite, however, is Norfolk Southern. My second favorite is CSX Transportation. I live in Fairfield Illinois 62837, along Norfolk Southern's St. Louis main line. We don't see a lot of trains through here, but when a train does come through, it is a treat to get to watch it go through. The tracks through here used to be owned by Southern before the NW/SOU merger. We also used to have the B&O going through. It came from Flora and ran through Fairfield, Enfield, Norris City, and on to Shawneetown. On the NS Main line, I see a lot of foreign power including some BNSF, a lot of UP, and some CN.

My favorite railroad company is the Burlington Northern, I had alot of fun memories watching the BN trains go by, fortunately you still get to see alot of the BN freight cars around.
