As of 2000 there were about 200 left, I'm guessing there are over 150 (or more) left.
  • I'm a BNSF fan. I'm in the middle of the Denver to Pueblo BNSF/UP joint line, so I get the best of both worlds( or railroads)

  • Lucky you!
  • i SHUTTLE CAR'S FOR ENTERPRISE -RENT-A-CAR, TODAY 10/28/2004, WHILE WAITING TO BE P/U BY CHASE VAN,3 POWER UNITS (FOUR TOTAL) LASTS DASH-9, LOOKED TO HAVE BEEN IN VERY BAD FIRE, NO MOTOR INSIDE, MAYBE TAKING TO TACOMA FOR REPAIRS, TRAIN CAME FROM NORTH, MOST CARS CONTAINED AUTOMOBILES, FOR BNSF ORIALLI YARD IN TUKWILA,WA . • I play with "O" guage model trains, but I also, like to chase real TRAINS & THERE ARE ONLY TWO COMPANY'S I CAN CHASE UP OR BNSF, THEY SPLIT IN TACOMA, WASHINGTON COMING NORTH & EACH HAVE THEIR OWN TRACK, BUT BNSF IS BEST BECAUSE IT GOES EITHER EAST OF NORTH TO B.C. & HAS LOTS MORE FREIGHTS, PLUS AMTRAK, & SOUNDER USE SAME TRACKS, SO ONE ONLY HAS TO FINE ONE FREQUNICY, FOR> ALL, HAVE A GREAT DAY>>>>>>>>>'HUB'

Hub, I'll respectfully ask in future posts, no all caps.
  • BNSF fan here too, and another from MN! I happen to be on the Morris subdivision that runs from Willmar to Dilworth through western MN. I am especially enjoying all of the run through power I've been seeing on the BNSF of late, lots of great photo opps!

If you've never come to raillfan in MN, you're missing out.
  • I am a Santa Fe/BNSF fan and I miss the warbonnet schemes[:(] But my favorite 'BNSF' scheme would have to be BNSF orange.

Both companys lost their trademark paint scheme. Burlighton Northern was famous for the green and white locomotives, while ATSF was for the Warbonnet, and they both lost them[xx(]
  • Hi yea the Monticello track they dont use that anymore except if NSP needs a train i think in the last 5 years i have only seen like 2 trains move in and out of Monticello. Sometimes when i am on the freeway i will see a train in Albertville though. When i was young the Monticello line went all the way to st cloud and you use to see more trains then.
  • yea they still use the Green and Black BN trains alot here in Minnesota although i see the Orange ones 8 out of 10 times Normaly the local trains are green and the long distance trains are normaly the big orange Dash 9s.
  • What, no-one remembers the war bonnets? Ooops, didn't read far enough. Just put the BNSF on the side and let them pull freight. The all time best paint scheme. Also, the GP60M #146 was painted blue/silver by Topeka for a Maersk advertisment in the early 90's and then repainted in red. You can still see the blue showing through in spots.
