I had to vote for Mike. It looks like he was at waterstreet road. The trains look great coming around the curve at night too.

I believe Eric had the best picture this time. Although I do not like pictures of trains in shadow, this one was nice. Very good heat distortion. Mike I am sorry but I do not like pictures when the day is cloudy.

I voted for Mike, I am a Wisconsin Central fan.
Too bad CN isn't maintaining the Maroon and Gold paint scheme properly.
Lots of engines have also lost the WC shield, like this one. Shame on CN!!
But some maroon and gold now runs on the railways of Estonia!

Sorry Mike, I had to go with Erik's photo this time, but it was a hard choice. Normally I don't like the straight-on shots like Eirk's, but the image was so clear and the heat/smoke waves coming off of the locomotives was too cool! Mike's photo also looked a little under exposed, probably from the overcast. You can tell there were a lot of clouds. Keep up the GREAT work, both of you!!

I went for Eric's photo this time. In comparison with Mike's picture it shows more "life" and color.

I like both Mike and Erik's shots because the gave a view of the locomotives and some of the freight cars but I felt that Erik's shot seemed more dramatic and therefore the better of the two.

While I like the drama of Eric's photo, I like the depth of field in Mike's photo better.

Gotta go with Erik ! I have many of the same reasons as the other posters: exhaust haze, framed by the signals, mismatched AC... But in addition, while the loco is in the shade, the color and clarity are there for me as well as the neat effect of the headlight or sun on the rails and just to the right, you can see dapples of sun on the roadbed. Mike's was too static in comparision and didn't have the feel of railroading Erik's shot had for me.

Mikes picture was so clear, it was helped by the shadows and the colors, giving it a lot of pleasant contrast. The angle also contributed to conveying an image of very large size while placing me down at 'ground zero'.
Erik's photo, except for the heat waves and haze, made the train look dimenutive, as though looking at a model. The sunlight made the contrast poorer than in Mike's photo. The BNSF colors also contributed to low contrast in the sunlight, I couldn't read the herald. But is was a good perspective of the train rounding the curve.

Very though vote for me, but I chose Mike's photo this time. To me, Mike's photo is more pleasing to the eye and I also like the coloring of the sky. The maroon WC unit provides good contrast with the greenery and sky. Eric's photo is nice as well but perhaps a little too dark for my taste. Heat distortion is evident (not much you can do about that) but the signals attract your eyes away from it.

two great photos however I had to go with Eric's this time. Both had good angles but I liked the overall effect of the exhaust and the framing of the signals.
