Robby, nice catch on the J, I know you've been wanting to get them for a while.
I'm glad the OCRR Alcos may have found a good home.

At least the sound will stay the same...non turbo 645 with P5...close eyes ad with it was 5 yrs ago is what it will come down to.
Jordan....Long time no talk....I think I might be in town near the end of this month....How has the CN been running??? Here in De Pere there running eh eh....Ya will have to text me sometime when ya see me on MSN or something.....Maybe I'll catch ya trackside in town......
Well, I did get information on why the 703 is down here, it's leaking oil for about the fourth time within a year. Just another example of 703 doing what it does best, annoy the heck out of the EJ&E. I thought 703 would be the last J unit left but it looks like it's going to transfer over to CN dead at Gary, a excellent start to its career with CN (ends sarcasm).
J, the only train you'll be able to catch is the morning south bound. They changed the names of the trains too, the south bound isn't the 408 anymore, it's the 589. I'm not sure what the north bound is called, but I think that's the 589 also. All the other trains run in the dark. The switcher doesn't run a whole lot anymore with the slow down of 3M in winter.
Robby, I think that GP38 is going to be the first to go on CN... either CN rebuilds it, or CN will retire it.
Wow.....That sounds like a big change in that town....What happened??? Did they change it all cause of to many RR fans by the yard to shoot trains in the day??? LOL.....J/K.....But wow....Thats crazzie that things are changing....I'll have to see what I can catch when I makes er to town....You know what time the NB leaves by chance??? Do you guys run with the new thing called "track authority" instead of TW's?? Ya might have said something way back when they first came out but I am not going to dig back thru all these posts to see if ya did or nots.....They got rid of TW's here and now went all to that track authority stuff.....You can still hear the conductors still say TW and then catch them selves and say track authority...Also I see they went to bigger numbers in the 10,000 series is it on them track authority things......Anywho....Catch ya on the flip side.............
I didn't really feel like retyping this so, here it is in whole, from CRO. Some is old news, some is repeated, some is new news, both good and bad, but mostly bad...
CN - QUEBEC RAILWAY CORPORATION (QRC) Updates: During the first week of December, the only NBEC units actually working on the railway were the 6900-series SD40’s. As reported last month in CRO, NBEC SD40 6909 is currently at the SYDNEY COAL RAILWAY Shops for repairs. During the month of December, CN began training conductors at Moncton, NB, and have hired back some others. CN power is now seen all over NBEC, for example: CN C44-9W’s, GP40-2LW’s, SD40-2W’s and SD75I’s are now on NBEC Trains 402 and 403. The CN GP40-2LW’s assigned to Bathurst, NB., are 9402, 9461, and 9513. As many of our readers are aware, many of the units on the NBEC roster never actually ran on NBEC, or have not run for years, or were purchased as parts sources only. It is the same story on the OTTAWA CENTRAL. By mid-December four CN units replaced the outgoing OCRR MLW’s: CN GP40-2LW’s 9416, 9433, 9455 and 9525. In late December near press time, CN 9416 suffered a failure, and was expediently replaced by CN GP9RM 7054.
Also in Mac-Yard in late December were QRC RS18u’s 1842 and 1859 for the ST. THOMAS & EASTERN. Note: The ST&E’s HR412W 3582 will soon be moving to the PORT COLBORNE HARBOUR Line. (Both shortlines are owned by TRILLIUM RAILWAY CORP). At Campbellton, NB, and to be forwarded to Woodcrest were RS18u’s 1813, 1819, 1821, 1845, 1849, 1851, 1856, 1857, 1867, 1868, and C424m 4235. The following QRC units will be scrapped on the CHARLEVOIX RAILWAY (CFC): NBEC RS18u’s 1841 and 1853. The following units are to be scrapped on NBEC at Campbellton: NBEC RS18u’s 1809, 1830, 1855, 1858, as well as NBEC C424m’s 4219, and 4243. The following QCR unit is to be scrapped in Ottawa: OCRR RS18u 1829. One-of-a-kind (QRC) SFEX RS18u 3000 is to be leased to CHEMIN de FER LANAUDIERE, a shortline near Joliette, QC. They had BELL GAZ (BG) ex-CN S13m 114 which failed, and in the meantime have been using a QGRY SW1500. SFEX 3000 is enroute to Joliette for BELL GAZ to lease. Charles De Jean provided these photos of the two units in CN-Taschereau Yard on December 29th and the RS18u was running! On December 31st, BG S13m 114 was being returned to CADRAIL for repairs and had been uinterchanged to CP-St-Luc Yard

That's it for now!
Alex
Robby, They are currently "keeping" the 63XX's,67,68, and 69XX series SD40-2's on the BN. The first rumor is ridiculous, there is no way anyone that knows anything would say that. The second rumor is what is going to happen on all railroads, they will replace them until there gone. No other way to do it...
And I guess I must have missed it but when in the hell did CN get the NBEC?
Alec (DMIR 212 looks very nice, even though most wont admit it!)

I believe it was December 1st, or around there.

It is true the few missabe units left look shabby to say the least....it is painful to say that but its true lol

Yes we operate with Track Authority.

The Missabe Road: Safety First
Quiet around this place lately, though I suppose if anybody else is like me finals time is approaching and that keeps a person busy.
I did take a brief time out this morning though to make a nice little catch. I was headed to school this morning when I saw a headlight down the tracks. Figuring it was probably just the local, I decided to check it out just to see what the power was before continuing to school. But to my surprise as I went to where the train was sitting, I found the local, but also a WSOR plow train! This is only the second time I've seen the WSOR run a plow up on the Reedsburg sub, and the last time it was after dark so I couldn't get a picture.
Only problem was that I didn't have a camera with me. I did a few quick calculations, I decided that with about 20 minutes left until class started I could make a quick run home, hurry back to grab a shot, and probably arrive at class just as the bell rang. So I hurried home on the slippery roads, found the camera and got this:
Nothing exciting photography wise, but it's still a neat catch in my eyes. The other unusual thing is that there are technically two seperate trains in this picture, and I think that is the first time I've ever seen that happen in Reedsburg.
I ran back to the car, hopped in and did just manage to make it to school. It was worth it I think! I seriously thought about "taking the morning off" too, as it was clearing off and the plow would have made a great chase back to Madison. Oh well, there's always the next time they run a plow train (or at least that's what I keep telling myself...).
Noah
Excellent photo, Noah! That is worth the time to go grab the camera. I've had that happen in the past when trains have been sitting on the ex-Rock Island in Joliet. Yeah it has been quiet around here, no doubt because of school and the fact that many are taking finals. I myself just haven't had any time to post anything here, plus with the recent lack of activity I haven't been able to reply to anything until now! Lets try keeping this place active!
Well I am in exam week, pretty busy, still have 4 exams left, in 2 days...
I do have some new videos to post here, but I think most of you have found them on Youtube if you are really that interested. I'll post them eventually. Next one will be driving a GP9RM (no, not in the cab, but from a beltback. Still pretty darn cool!)
That's it guys. Sorry I don't post too much. I'm still focusing on video, even though I got the point and shoot camera. I guess this isn't so hot a place to post videos, that's all. Of course pictures are alway popular, so I'll have to find a way to do both while still making videos more exciting than locking the tripod head and having one scene of the entire train. I've been giving the "artsy" stuff a shot, and well I don't know how it turned out honestly, because I haven't had the time to look at it.
But don't fear! I still have been railfanning! Last trip was already two weeks ago. Me and Sean put down close to 500 km, and we didn't even find anything interesting to shoot. There was some stuff, but it was a bad day. We missed almost every CN train that went by, CP was shut down until the Saturday (New Years Break) and so I am guessing my best shot would be the Adirondack at the Quebec/New York border. (Kinda funny how there was a Border Collie barking at us while we were driving along a Cul-de-Sac that ended right at the border. Also some funny sights. The road just ends at the border, with a wooden post sticking up, with two cameras. I don't know why I thought that was funny, but...)
Enough said, and goodnight! Got a Physics exam from 8:00 - 11:00, then History from 12:15 - 14:15. Another long day ahaid...
I haven't been railfanning since December...
Noah: Nice catch! Looks like it was worth it to get the camera!
Alex: I looked, and didn't see any new videos, or maybe they're not THAT new...
