Hello, those interested.
Took a swing by the Super Steel plant in Scotia-Glenville Industrial Park on NY 5, west of Schenectday the other day, and noted that it looks as if Super Steel has completed assembling the 90 locomotives (it was odd to see Union Pacific livery here in the East) that were ordered. In past drive-bys, especially on Saturdays, there would be several autos in the employee lot, and two or three units on the tracks at the plant. Now, everything is closed up, and there is nothing on the tracks. Conclusion: contract compete, which of course means temp or permanent layoffs for management and staff, or opportunity to take long and well deserved vacations.
Over the past months, it was "industrial eye candy" to see such spanking new and beautiful machines in UP's yellow and red, numbered in the 2600's

Beauty, as you know, is in the Eye of the Beholder.......and the only point being made was the bright, shining, fresh paint and CLEAN look aspect of the new locomotives.....Now the shape of the Goats is another matter. Yet, even there, I personally, though no driver, would want to be up high with capability to look all around me - something the Goats seem to provide, looking from the outside. (Have not ever been in the cab.)
