[:(]What do your folks have against your enjoyment of a hobby? One would think that many parents would be pleased to know that their son or daughter was spending time and money on something worthwhile.

I am blessed with a wife who values hobbies and is supportive of mine. Also, she collects Barbie dolls and often outdoes me in the purchasing area.

Actually it seems like I am approaching the level of 'enough train stuff' on my own terms. In the next while I will probably limit my purchases to building supplies for my redesigned layout. After all, isn't the hobby about making things?

Enough train stuff? One can never have enough train stuff as far as I'm concerned. That's like having enough money.

After 35 years of marrage my wife has come to realize that I suffer from Selective Hearing Inertia Tetany! syndrome which is triggered by certain phrases or words. This syndrome is characterized by irritability followed by intermittent spasms of the extremities until acted upon by an outside force (normally an order form for train stuff). The phrase that triggers this sydrome most often, starts with "You have enough..."

Therefore, the phrase "You have enough train stuff." is never uttered in my presents.

Fortunatly my girlfriend is as avid a train freak as me. So this comment is highly unlikely to ever be uttered from her mouth.

However, Parents, Friends, people who don't understand model trains, ect. A million times. I have ingnored it of course becasue you can never have to many trains, or to much train layout. Just never eneugh room!

James.

My wife thinks I do, but of course you never do. There's always that one more locomotive or car or something.

Once I have claimed additional trackage rights in the laundry room, I'll have enough "Yard" for 50 or so cars.

Hmmm... No one uses the spare bedroom, That might take me to Malagash.

I don't now, nor have ever have had a significant other. But if I did, she might say I have too much stuff.

The trick of course is to spread it all around the basement so she never sees it all at once. It's also harder for her to notice when something added. Kinda of like what she does with her clothes, shoes, handbags, etc.
Enjoy

Soon after the last time she said that (and while she was "out of town"); I "liberated" 20' of her 25' garage !
i.e. we have a Phila. "row house", with (originally) an included garage on the basement level.

Interesting that she (who otherwise "must be obeyed") hasn't complained for about 4 years now !!
