We would except for the fact that this is the only toaster we've had that's lasted more than a year. I think we've had it for 6 years or more I'm not sure though, and it can toast four slices at once!

Sinc we have another HUGEcomplaint thread I couldn't resist bumping up this thread.

With a complaint about toast!

In our toaster if you only toast one slice of bread the other side is burnt so you scrape it off and by the time you do that your toast is cold. So you stick it back in on the shortest setting to warm it back up again in the other spot this time then the oppisite side.So by the time you finish scraping off the burnt stuff it's cold again and since you realize that this will go n untill the bread isn't there anymore you have cold dry toast with burnt spots on it Dead [xx(]

Since the first two posts that started this are basically identical, it is just weird.  As someone who has been off for a couple of weeks and just came back to this, I gotta tell ya its kinda ridiculous and outta hand here.  Nothing wrong with having fun, but this is just getting confusing.  Besides didn't we establish long ago that both DC and DCC have their good and bad in different situations?  And as for bad running of locos at slow speeds..you can't use a train set power pack, all there is to it.  Leave it for accessories or what have you.  Well, I have to go take some aspirin now..

Sorry guys I just had to do it. But my toast comes out perfect. Not to dark(BURNT) but not to floppy. And if you don't like the tosters, then use a blow torch.

Say goast 10 times, then most 10 times. What do you put in a toster?

Try the frozen waffles.  You can cook them in a...TOASTER!

I've got one of the limited-edition 5-DCC model toasters from last year's April MR.  Simple one-button user interface, with an additional analog control dial to set the light-dark CV.  I found that if I set that CV to the max value (255) then I get real smoke.  What an effect!

Guess what!!!  Some company is offering a new toaster with a WIRELESS CONTROLLER!  Shock [:O]

Plus, this toaster comes ready to cook on AC, DC, or DCC.  It even includes authentic baking noises and a special playable toast ejection button.  The harder you push the button the higher the toast flies!

It has loads of accessories, too!  You can add remote viewing of your cooking bread, automatic butter spreaders, and more!  Plus if you order now they will throw in a FREE jelly jar lid opener!  That's a $0.99 cent value absolutely free!  Call now, supplies are limited.  Rumor has it that this is a limited run with a number of pre-production orders already in place.  Dinner [dinner]

So nobody can tell me if my bread needs an upgrade also?  Why should I spend all the money and time on a fancy super-gizmotic toaster when my rock solid reliable old one gets the job done?  Maybe I don't want or need to toast French bread and 26 waffles all at the same time, dude, I can't even eat that many in one sitting!   My wife is already panicking at the thought of all the bread we've collected over the years suddenly being unusable.  So does plain white bread retro fit into a DCC toaster or not?

All this modern crap is wasted money, just get a plain reliable toaster and make some dried out bread for crying out loud!  Back in the 70's we used old skool stainless steel casings and wire heating elements on our toasters and we ate just fine thank you very much.  If you sit and over analyze the situation you'll go hungry for sure.  Start with a reliable two slot with a mechanical spring return and see if that is really what you want to get into.  Later on when you've figured out what and how many slices of toast you can conceivably use, then you can look into upgrading to a digital model.

Yes, one should think about upgrading the bread. It's simply this: a nice shiney shell is OK,

but what goes inside is what makes the difference.

My toaster handles and rolls better. I use the expensive healthy-nutty store low sodium real whole grains solid chewy bread that cost $4.39 a loaf, and must be refrigerated as it has no preservatives. It cleans track well also. It does well if I use my old toaster or new toaster. My old toaster needs new couplers though.

Hope this helps.

Exactly. You don't need to learn "F-8 double-punch" keystrokes to make some danged warm bread with butter on it.

I'd like to have a toaster with a QSI or Tsunami sound decoder and dual speakers! If the toaster is also high-end brass, I'd be the envy of model toasterers everywhere!!Big Smile [:D] I wonder what kind of sounds the toaster would make? Would I want light, medium or dark sounds?
