I would suggest you drop the horsepower guess as a requirement for winning. Getting accurate steam locomotive horsepower can be a bit dicey, to say the least. What with typos thrown in and inaccuracies, I know I have seen at least ten different numbers shown for every one of the N&W's big 3.
How about Railroad, wheel arrangement, and class (also railroad dependent, like a Milwaukee Baltic instaed of Hudson) ?
Oh yeah, I think Aggro nailed it: UP MT-73 Mountain.
I figured just by glancing at the pic and the poster that it was UP. Other than that I was screwed, not a steam man by far. Aggro's turn!

Back in the days of steam, 'horsepower' didn't figure into the equation nearly as often as TE--Tractive Effort. The MT-73 had between 45-50,000 lbs. of tractive effort, as I remember. Kind of light for a 4-8-2, but once the loco got a train rolling, it could tear up the rails pretty well.

WHO originated the ''Name that loco'' thread on the ''other'' board upnut? It most certainly was NOT you...... It was Guilford Guy, below is the link, youv'e been caught in ANOTHER lie! when are you going to smarten up?

Unfortunately for us, Grayfox, kobi a.k.a.---upnut, hoplasserem80c and I'm sure many others...has a problem with telling the truth, about ANYTHING, recently there was a huge uproar caused by upnut [hoplasserem80c] on another board...and it resulted in him being banned. It got so outrageously silly that one member dubbed him ''Mother Goose'' in referance to his tall tales. We all got a good belly laugh from that one!!!!
He is now trying to do the same thing here, but I'll wager he will find the reception to his ''fairy tales'' much hotter on this forum.
I've already seen some pretty questionable posts,I.E.-----his expenditures and assertion that he ''buys all his trains himself''. We know from the other forum that this is,in fact, a lie.

Yeah. This type of game has been played here before.
And much more creatively as well.

Oh, did I get it wrong. I was going to name it "Fred".
Actually, with the desert scenery and Vanderbuilt tender I was going to guess Southern Pacific.

Heres another loco game:

Although we are aware the kid didn't make up the game, I'll still keep it going.
This ones a no-brainer.

You ain't kidding it's a no-brainer. UP FEF-1.
That would be a UP Class FEF-1 4-8-4.
The Union Pacific Railroad bought 45 4-8-4s in three orders from the American Locomotive Company.
The first order of 20 locomotives (road numbers 800 through 819) was delivered in 1937.
It has 77" drivers, 24.5 x 32 cylinders, a boiler pressure of 300 psi, and a weight of 465,000 lbs resulting in a tractive effort of 63,611 pounds (63,800 nominal).

Oops. My turn.
Here's one. It's diesel not steam.
Only one of me was ever built and I was sold to the Gulf, Mobile & Ohio. What am I?

You did not include a picture, but it was probably the Ingalls Shipbuilding Co model 4S, 1500 HP road switcher.

Yup. Your turn.
Incidentally, supplying a picture makes it too easy.
This should be an easy one for steam fans.
My name is the same as a famous National park and I ran until 1961 or so.
