Weekend Photo Fun - 9-11 March 2007
Posted by MisterBeasley on Friday, March 9, 2007 4:51 PM

OK, it's my 60th birthday today, so I'll blow out the candles and start the celebration.  These are the stoops I finally built and added to a pair of DPM townhouses.  It all started with the Preiser figures.  I ordered them a couple of years ago, and when I saw them I knew they needed some steps to sit on.  It was a long time coming, but finally these folks are home:

Congratulations ; now you are only 8 years behind me ( will be 9 years later this month though).

Nice looking stoops (fence and yards/building look great also).  Where is a picture of that new loco ?

I am still in basic teraforming on my layout.  Added some talus, weeds and a few trees to the the Arock entrance.

I like that cozy scene, Mr. B.  I think I may have walked through that neighbourhood once or twice.  Nice work. Approve [^]  And, Happy B-Day [bday]

Here is my lone contribution for the week.  The machine shop is a built-up from Walthers that I painted and mortared.  I wanted the old-fashioned cladding that looked light green for the window panels.  The foundation is white beaded foam painted and weathered, and the front steps are blue extruded foam.

The Limited passing by on high is headed by an NYC S1b Niagara, and going on to points north.

I've actually got some to post this week. Let's see if I remember how to do this.

Finally making a bit of progress now that it's warming up. Can't wait to get a digital camera. Getting sick of waiting on the photo lab.

First a couple of pictures of the updated landscaping from Donner Ridge.

And after almost four years, I bolted the two halves of my layout together and have a complete layout.  Five tracks connect the two halves.  All 5 connecting tracks are complete and a couple of Dash 8s can be seen cleaning the track in preparation for tomorrow's official Golden Spike ceremony.

Hello All,

I have received nice feedback on some of the photos I've posted the last couple of weeks, so I'm trying to pay it forward some and reciprocate. It's a good feeling to be recognized by peers. I find a lot of inspiration and motivation through the WPF threads.Good work here!Smile [:)]

Mr. B-Happy Birthday, and quality shows through in those townhomes!

Alan-Great work, your at a great stage of construction on your layout. It's fun seeing how our visions come to life as we fill out our terrain.

Selector-Very nice scene, I noticed that it "flows" very nicely.

Loathar-Sweet setup man! I wish I had that much room for nice mainline runs as you appear to have.

Gappleg-Townhomes look good. I appreciated the window shades(they're not all the same color, suggesting different interior decors.

Jeff-Sweet! Thumbs Up [tup]Love the layout. Been following the intermodal terminal, gotta try that soda machine thing! I have a soft spot for modern era layouts.

Hi,

I posted this image earlier in the week elsewhere, but thought I would stick it in here as well.

This is a piece of trackwork from the Bronx Terminal freight house that I have started to construct.

I have more detail about what this place once was on my website, click here to go there.

Cheers!

Aggro- I think one of the hardest things to show in a model photo is weight. Your trains look like they weigh a ton. I don't know how you do it, but you sure nail it!

Hey Mister B, ya finally caught up to me again....  Happy #60!  I celebrated the big six oh a few months back.  I don't feel a day over 80 though.

I haven't had much time for the last couple of weeks to get much more done on the layout, but I have been working on the SLO&W Passenger Station at Hopewell Junction.

And an aerial view of the area:

BTW, nice work everyone!

Ray Seneca Lake, Ontario, and Western R.R. (S.L.O.&W.) in HO

We'll get there sooner or later!

Yes, Aggro, it's a BLI, and one of the two locos that I purchased from Outlet Direct, their "returned items" stock page that you will find on their website.  I love this locomotive.

And, if I can compliment you on your artistry, it is as stunning as it ever was.  I really like what you do.

What little MRR time I have had this week has been spent preparing a Woodland scenic mini-scene, you know one of those white metal jobs, for painting.  So all I have to show for myself is a pile of metal filings and some blunt hobby knife blades.  It felt like there was more metal in flash than the model itself!

Mister B, I wish you a very happy birthday, I hope you have many more, and that you have a nice weekend of relaxing on the RR.  Great job on the townhouses as well.

Agro, I don't know if that Rock box is one you consider to be one of your best, but it is fantastic.  I have printed pics of it for reference so that my 7 year old budding weatherer and I can learn from the master.  Superb!!

AggroJones - If it weren't for the two shiny people on the hillside (one of which is going to separate his shoulder when he finally falls), I'd have thought it was a prototype photo.  If that isn't a NMRA rolling stock winner yet, it should be!

selector - nice varnish meet.

MrBeasley - have some chocolate cake for me. I'm on a diet and have to live vicariously through others...
