FOLKS, beware.

To all, this person may be a hacker. Beware of what they post.
I feel that maybe it will run away soon. There's one in every corner.

I am a member of a few other net chat forums and had this problem on them a
while back. Once, I tried to get onto a forum and found it to be experiencing problems.
I know that there are measures in place today, but this person can get access to
our bios we posted. Do we need that??

If (s)he joins fourms and causes havioc harassing fourm members then I would call this person a heckler not hacker. A true hacker does his/her work without you knowing they are there.

I would like to thank the forum administrators for exterminating the troll, whose posts seem to have disappeared.

UIOP4 posted several messages that were extremely disdainful of model railroaders. From his verbage, he sounded like he was from England.

I don't believe he was a hacker (they prefer to be unnoticed), but he was trying to stir up angry responses, in other words, a textbook troll. The matter was brought to the attention of the forum administrators, and they put an end to the matter, and deleted his posts.

Again and again: DON'T FEED THE TROLLS; IT ONLY ENCOURAGES THEM!

If they deleted his posts its possible they have also blocked him "ala Missouri" from posting any further messages so we may never know.

   Have fun with your trains

IIRC, UIOP4 wrote four posts in which he described this forum and its participants as sad. Then he accused the members here of being gay (and I don't think he meant "showing or characterized by cheerfulness and lighthearted excitement"), and urged us to stop it; and in his final post, he accused the membership here of "being tossers for Tony Blair". (This last attempted insult has me puzzled. I know "tosser" is a term of disdain used in Britain, I am not sure exactly what it is supposed to mean, nor do I understand how being one for the British Prime Minister makes it worse. Perhaps one of our UK members could translate for us.)

To me, he sounded like a juvenile being a jerk. They're not hard to find on the internet.

This one's got me puzzled. Not only was this guy a complete prat, he's not even coherent. "tosser" is indeed a British insult, but he's used it an incoherent context. Sad to see the forum being invaded by idiots who just want to cause aggravation and hassle. I'm hoping this is an unusual occurence?

For a message board with this many participants, and relatively little moderation, I am pleasantly surprised that there is relatively little in the way of flame wars, trolling, and bad manners.

(Ironically, the two worst message boards I have ever participated in were devoted to religious subjects. One of them is rather heavily moderated.)

So let's keep up the good work!

I deleted all of his comments last week and locked his account. I'm now going to lock this thread so we can move on. [:)]
