Evening Gang: I got back from OKC anout 2 hours ago. It was a long trip and really not much to see except in the Arbuckle Mountains. There are some interesting rock cuts along the hi way. Gas is up at $2.99 here and $3.15 in Oklahoma. Diesel has gone over $ 3.33 here.
Hoople, I'm sorry to hear about your friend. Even though he's gone he will live in your memories.
I'm tired so I will head for bed.

HI ALL:
Today is friday the 9th. It has been a long time since I've been able to sit down and do this. Well where to start, I know weather it is now 57degrees and slight rain have not had any frost yet here on the beach. Been sunny and cool for the last 15 days and this is the first rain since the first couple weeks in oct. We have both been in and out of hosp, first Kathy and the me. All bad news for both of us. Kathy lives in my BIG chair all the time with exceptions and you know what I mean. She is now totally confined to wheelchair, and i'm walking about half of the time. RR has been moved into shop [ garage ] so that i can been closer to her. Not much has been happening except finding a lot of structures found that i have yet to build, also found a lot of my old brass ho engines that need to be cleaned so my work has been brough before me. The operation on my back has been completed and now i have something like a pacemaker in there a lot less pain and no more heavy narcs, regaining some of the feeling in both hands and arms also shoulders but not below the waist as of yet but drs say maybe 25% oh well !!!!!!!!!!!! Kathy has congestive heart to go along with everything else. Your question is................ The answer is DRs don't know......Must go to Portland twice a month for her ......Gas is up to 3.05 here and my monster the truck only gets 12 to 14 a gallon....Uncle is paying for mine and also Kathy's vet and family.....Ive found enough parte to try to build what earl smallshaw did with the back of tenentments not as good maybe but a little goes a long way. All the room i've got now is just 4 by2.5 ..The kid has the outside shop for storage [ that was my rr room] .....
I have very little time for much of anything because of all that i hae to do for kathy, my big bridge sleeping cat j.r. is in my lap trying to chase the mouse now. i found one of those ten doller cameras and want to try it out and also see what you'all think of my cheep-cheep pictures..By the way that is the call of the native bird of poland,,the parakeet.
Much love and gods love for all.....
chuck and kathy sunset beach oregon thank you all..
in a Union Pacific mug today, please & thank you!
***Mike, nice modelling work there. Your site was already in my bookmarks.
Late start here...off to feed & water the critters. Have a great day all. Rob
Good morning, Diners - Zoe, I'd like a coffee and some waffles, please.
Thank you!
to the Diner, New Mexico Mike! Love the photos of your layout on your website. If any of you haven't taken a look, you should (even if you're not modeling the Southwest as NM Mike and I are). Now, I just need to do some of those things you're doing in HO... Oh, my only warning would be to try to avoid the Top Of Page (TOP) honors, as if you hit the TOP you get to cover the tab for that day/part of the day... But Zoe and Chloe (and cousins Vinnie and Bruno) can (ahem..) arrange 'terms' for payment (like doing the dishes), and they do take plastic for the tab.
Fergie, I'd say I'll have to chime in with PC and RT on the sympathy and congratulations. So, which loco will the LHSes be running short on now?
Beautiful day in Cape Girardeu today - high in the mid-to-upper 60's (F), and nice and sunny. Think maybe I'll get some paperw**k done (after I finish off my waffles, that is).
Blessings on your Friday!,
Jim in Cape Girardeau
I will slide into this back booth and have some coffee and one of Bill's donuts with white frosting and chocolate sprinkles. You all know how I like chocolate.
Rob, I like Barbara's idea of a layout in a table. We have a coffee table that Larry built when he was in high school shop that has a glass top. We have considered a layout from time to time, but then we would have one more project that is not finished. Sometimes I think that the goal is to never finish. What do you do if you finish the layout? I like your wish list. Do you have it tacked to the wall at your work bench as a hint?
Philip, Wednesday is the day that they usually raise or lower the prices of gas/diesel, however, they have done some raises in between lately. Go figure. I plan to head to town this morning to get 20 gallons for the mower that I use in the trees. I used the last of it mowing until dark yesterday.
NM Mike, to the diner. Looks like you do some serious modeling. I would love to see the more of your great stock yard. One of my current projects is a stockyard on a farm. Stop by for a snack anytime.
Later, Sue

Hey Mike!
Thought I would post a picture of my N Scale Albuquerque Carnuel and Tijeras RR for you to look at and hopefully enjoy.
That looks real familiar. Have I seen that scene somewhere?
Great work BTW!

Morning Guys.
my comp at home has just about had it. I think it's slower than death.
I've started an illumating campane on my layout. using any spare lightbulbs I can find.
Good Morning All,
Broke my piggy bank before arriving this am so breakfast is good to go. I'll just have my usual and maybe 2 eggs over easy with rye toast. Bruno "suggested" i stay until there are adequate dishes to wash so eat up everyone!
Got Thomas repaired and have the 4 - 8 - 2 as a static display until I can't stand it anymore (maybe after w..k today). CUL, J.R.
Mornin' all!Getting back to something more like normal around here in the weather department.Today: Sprinkles end early then partly sunny - high: 53Tonight: Mostly clear and cold - low: 33Thats much more like it!Sue, gas prices around here jump around hourly. Haven't seen a weekly jump in years!Guess I'd best get busy!Later!
Good morning ! from Indiana.

Just a tall cool glass of water & a Brownie. Thanks!
***JR, that steamer is a beauty. Waiting until Sunday...You have patience man!
***Sue, Barbara's layout will be HO under a round glass table top. So even if I start with just a door size layout, mine will be a tad bigger. After seeing what Dave Vollmer created in such a space, this is pretty much what I have decided on. There will also be tracks running off both ends (with bumpers) for potential expansion down the road. At least a door size layout can be easily moved from room to room if need be. Yea, I could start one 8 1/2' x 42' in the room under the porch like I originally planned on, but """REALITY CHECK""" I haven't the time nor money for such an undertaking. Will be a challenge to get the two small layouts done as it is.
I came one click away from buying that (N) SD24 before deciding to wait and see what my latest vintage locos sell for first. Really need to count dollars and make some careful choices. On my wish list still remains: Atlas SD24 (UP), Atlas two-truck shay (Undec), Atlas GE B40-8W (SF), KATO NW2 (ATSF), KATO AC4400CW (UP), and unfortunately a $$$=PCM E8 (UP). "OUCH"...anyone want to give me a winning lottery ticket? And I know what some of you are thinking: with a steam/diesel transition era layout, I have no business getting modern diesels. So I will shift blame to the Manufacturers for making them TOO COOL TO RESIST! Besides, the big KATO on my desk is screaming at me now "I'm sooo lonely!" What am I to do, please insanity?
Rob
Evening, Chloe - Just a cup of coffee and a brownie for now.
Thanks! Oh, and I'll chip in a couple of $$ to help out JR on his bill. That's one nice loco, JR! How's she running so far - have you tried any long trains with her?
Paul, it does sound like you should talk with John about those early morning trips... In our area, gas has gone up 15 or 20 cents a gallon in the past week, and today was at $2.84. I hope we don't end up getting to your prices there (or to Kevin's area's prices). It's so high (for us here, anyway) that the regular gas stations are the same price as our cash-only place (which usually is a few cents lower than them). But then again, the coasts always seem to have higher gas prices than we do.
Mark, sorry to hear about your friend's death. We're here for you, y'know. At least your 'puter is working again and you can drop by here. Oh, I'm sure Der will vouch that no kittens were harmed in the making of that photo. Hang in there, buddy.
'bout time for me to head home for bed. See you all in the morning.
Blessings and prayers,

I guess that she will need more layout space, Rob.
Paul, Our diesel was $3.70/gal yesterday. Who knows what it is today. It has been jumping weekly.
Dick, Sounds like you are ready for winter. I think I will schedule a chimney cleaner tomorrow. Thanks for the push.
Mark, Sorry about your friend.
Sue
PS. I took so long that I guess JR is buying. Thanks. Oh yeah, that looks like a full yard.
Good Evening All,
Just got done with w..k but had a couple of minutes for the basement before i get some sleep. To end the suspense, yes it did come in and here it is sitting in the yard/staging hooked to some PRR rolling stock I've had for a while.... Still need to get a decoder for it as i don't fancy borrowing one from another loco and i won't have time to take it for a spin until Sunday anyway. It's a Blueline but it's the best detailed of the five (five? how'd that many sneak in ?) steam locomotives currently on the roster. At any rate without further adoo....................
and another angle
Mark - sorry to hear about your friend, was he a schoolmate?
RT - the docs may not be wringing their hands but do take care ok?
Cary - nice going landing the job. Now you and Scott can trade stories, no?
We were able to find a batch of motors for Thomas on E-bay but the poor thing gets run so much at the museum the motors don't last too long. Out of the five i only have one left. I'd really like to figure out a way to fit a ball bearing can motor like we used to do with the slot cars so it'll be off to the slot car track pretty soon to see what's available these days i think.
Well, tomorrow comes pretty early so i'm going to turn in - see ya'll tomorrow. J.R.
Oh great and top of the page besides. Just go easy ok you can see where all my savings have gone and Jerrys' already done most of the dirty dishes so that's not looking too good. Let's see if any of these windows work... oh hi Bruno - just letting a little fresh air in ya know why yes i know the register is over that way just let me get a breath and finish my coffee and I'll be right there - honest.
Good evening all,
Finally got the papermachine leveled out so thought I would say Hi. Just 2 more nights to go then a whole day off before starting 12 hour days ughhhhhhh.
RT hope all is well if the doctor had any real worries he would have adressed it now and not later.
Has any one heard from Alan B lately (B A H RR) he is starting his N gauge empire now.
PC the worse part is waiting to take care of something so hope all is well with the wife and will add her to my prayers.
Paul would love to have gas at 2.89 again I just paid 3.09 for regular ugh!! My daughter is headed to Texas the day after christmas for a race walking clinic in Maclean Tx kind of worried 15 yrs old and first time flying she will be there until the 31st participating in a race walking clinic so she will have fun we hope.
Take care all
Kevin
Hi all.
Haven't been in in awhile. My keyboard died out on me.
I have some bad news. A friend of mine died this morning of pnuemonia. I'll always miss him.
Der: Don't be shooting kittens, only shoot siblings.
Model train related, nothing has happened recently.
Later.
Mark.
Evening Gang: We finished up hauling the hay. I took the new tractor over to the truck stop and filled the diesel tank. It took 14.9 gals. I checked the hour meter and it had 12.6 hours on it so it is fairly easy on fuel. I had to pay $3.30/ gal for the diesel. Ouch! Gas at the same station is $2.89.
Cary: I was woundering what happened to you. I was kind of hoping that you'd get down here and we could get together.
Tomorrow John and I are off to OKC to pick up the rail. I've got to have a talk with him about early wake ups. He doesn't understand that ROFs are not supposed to do them. Saturday and Sunday is the train show in Ft. Worth so I need to get to the bank and cash in my change. I should have done that today but forgot. Do you think someone would take pennies?
Well I'd better get to bed. John will be pounding on the door.
