Mornin, an irish coffee please Janie

Got 31 out now, but headed for a high near 60, and mostly sunny day. Best enjoy while I can, suppose to cool back to a high in the 40's and rain next week.   Begining to think spring might be close. We've had a dozen or so robins out in the back yard, and seen several bunchs of geese heading north, high and fast, so maybe, just maybe it's close

SUE, like your trees, my mom has one of those bushes, so I may get some cuttings from her and try'em.

DICK, did cleaning the flue pipe help the stove. I'm going to go ahead and get a new gasket for mine while I can. Their hard to find in the summer.

RYAN, liked your train pics and the swing gate looks like it should work good.

JIMCG, I never get all my chores done, I just try to make a little more progress on them everyday.

Pdragon,  is that First hobby your talking bout in Decatur, if so, we were up that way yesterday afternoon and never did find it. Lousy map and directions from Mapquest. Tried to call them and all we got was a recording. Finally gave up and came home.

Know I won't be up your way on Sat. the CFO has an all day meeting, Sun. still up in the air also.  You going to try an make the Rockome show next month.

PAUL,  glad the show went well, to bad bout the rides though.

When we were up in Paris the other night, I got some pics out at the old NYC yard. First one is and old NYC gondola

This one is an old tie shear

The next two are of the yard.

No big plans for the day, just the normal Sunday stuff and enjoying the nice weather some. I'll catch up to yall laters, have a good one

Good morning, ladies - a cup of coffee and one of Bill's donuts, please - thanks!

Inch, good pics. What kind of shape was that NYC gondola in? It looked fairly old, but suprisingly good condition in the pic. Oh, I can understand the chores list not always getting done, since you do have other things that take up your time (like grandkids stopping by, your wife - or you - needing to make a run by a store or meeting). Deb sounds like a pretty busy woman! Of course, if my list is at all like yours might be, most of those chores are still waiting when I get back to it - they don't go away or tend to themselves, huh? Wink [;)] You might be right on that spring thing - we're now at 40 F and supposed to hit the low-to-mid 60's (F) here today, too.

Paul, good to hear the garden training went well. Hopefully, they might get insurance for next year. Of course, that might mean you'd have to get up at 4:45 in the morning then!....Smile,Wink, & Grin [swg]Whistling [:-^]Whistling [:-^]Whistling [:-^] Hope you got a good rest last night, even with Daylight Savings kicking in.

Scott, you're right about those dumpster trucks being heavy - our apartment building has a dumpster at the lower end (away from the street), and there's various cracks in the concrete parking lot/driveway - from the truck driving down (once a week) to empty it. Good to hear that you'll be looking for places to put the trains once you guys get moved. Started sketching any ideas for a layout yet?

Well, need to go finish up lesson for our small group at church this a.m. (Working our way through a Navigators' study in Romans - going to be a lonnnnggg one...) Everyone enjoy any good weather that you might be getting this afternoon. Dick, any signs of spring up your way yet?

Blessings and prayers,

Jim in Cape Girardeau

 HI ALL:

Sun. morn and all is well. We have had a good week, Kathy is watching tv again and I'm trying to catch up.We went to groc. store this weekand I found a box in the elec dept where all the DVD's were on sale for 5bucks in the pile was a 3volume set of old ads [shorts] from the 30's, 40's ,and 50's made by quite a few of now old and fallen flag RR. Tried to watch them but not enought time so I get to see a little at a time. Hey!!! these are good and quite interesting.

ALL: Back in the 70's I bought a lot of Bowser engines. Then they all came with open frame motors, the castings needed file work, had to solder the finer parts [I had not found ACC yet]. Had to pay between 50 and 150 bucks each that was with all the added parts. Put most of them together and they ran very good could pull your teeth out.LOL  Most of my cars at that time were either metal or wood with cast parts, so they were heavy. But I digress Bowser make a wonderfull kit if you want to take the time to put them together ,I understand that now they are changing over to closed motors and some plastic parts, if that is so they will be easier to put together, And I think as always their castings are great, also the instructions were very good and easy to follow.

  JIM@RCGMO

The metal car that I was talking about is ???1/32 ???? or bigger. Weights about 4lbs and is of an older model car without a top, and front and back seats.  Still free to anyone that has a need to play around with a lot of work and I don't know if all the parts are there..................

  SUE@HOME

Could you please tell me the Real name of that flower and since it grows up there it should grow dowwn here.   Same weather..

  PAUL@NORTHENOUTPOST

I had a couple of " small " ones and they are no fun just tell Glo that we are always in the hands of the Lord. And she will be added to our friday morning mass...KATHY

                LADIES@THEDINER

May I please have 2 cups of mud with choc Kathy is on the other comp and needs to stay awake for lunch. I would also like a dunkin donut on the grill please and thank. We don't have them here OOOOOO please make that 2 Kathy wants one also.

To all those in our nice new diner we have put you on our prayer list.

To all those that are new or returning we welcome you into the diner, Enjoy and ask because we sometimes know the answers and can oftimes are right...LOLLOL

Hello all.
This pic matches the ones PC posted a while ago.
The new "Piggy Back Loader"
The new patented "Rail Ramp"
What you get when you go too fast,
UP's new engine hauler.
The new MOW train.
That's all I can think of...

Chuck & Kathy,

They are called butterfly bushes.  The hummingbirds like them too.  The ones with the right shape are the purple ones.  I also have the orange/yellow ones, but the flowers are roundSad [:(].  The ones that you want are cone shaped.  Up here, they have become invasive and are on the noxious weed list in some cities.  I suspect that most nurseries should have them in stock now or soon.  If you water them well the first season, they will grow higher than the eaves of house.  If you cut them when they are purple, you will have to hang them upside down when they are wet with hairspray.

Good luck,  Sue

Anything is possible if you do not know what you are talking about.

See, here's the thing...........

I was going to lay track this weekend, but to do that I needed actual rack, right.  So far, so good!  I have a bunch of track and handfulls of turnouts, OK?  Problem is, they're in boxes from the move.  I have all of the boxes, but they're big and I hadn't gone through them yet, so which ones were all the stuff in?  Well, I found the flextrack pretty quick, so I was in good shape there.  The problem was, no turnouts!  I ended up going through each and every box, unpacking and sorting EVERYTHING.  I finally found my turnouts, but I don't have enough.  And to top it off, I'm exhausted from all of this.  I don't even want to lay track now!

I'm going to take a nap! Big Smile [:D]

Jerry - Never been to Rock Home. Any better/worse then Urbana?

Inch - Sorry you couldn't First Hobby. It's in an industrial complex. It's the second one in what is a row of offices. They sit on the left side of Federal Drive just past the Naval Reserve Center. Coming from Champaign, I use I-74. Thought this map might help next time. Sorry you and Jerry aren't going to make it to the Urbana show.

Evenin' Janie, a cup of coffee, please.

Hoople, that's one interesting photo of the diesel-on-flat...Shock [:O]Oops [oops] Bet the real story might be every bit as interesting as some of the ones you listed, too (or one of 'em)!

PC, isn't it such fun when you're newly moved in? Even more fun when it's an across-town move, and we've just put a bunch of things in a box to get it moved? Oh, yeah, you already found out about that, huh...? Wink [;)]

For right now, I'm going to hold off on my wiring until I at least get a second color of the same gauge (stranded) wire as my other main power bus is. As some of you may have noticed, I think I got the numbers backwards on my wire gauges. I told you that electrical stuff isn't my strong suit... Sign - With Stupid [#wstupid]

PDragon, I recognized your quote in your signature (think I had it in different order on the words, but it's been a while since I brushed up on my Latin - same idea, though...). I hadn't realized that Standard Hobby was that close to me. I'm used to everything being a while aways from Southeast Missouri and all. Nice to find out one not-so-LHS is just in the next state.

Another beautiful afternoon in Cape Girardeau - opened the door to my deck and let some of the nice air in. Smile [:)] This keeps up, I may just break out my short sleeve shirts pretty soon!

From the looks of things in the Diner, I wasn't the only one enjoying the weather. Kind of a slow day. Anyone hear from our Canadian brethren and how the show was this weekend? We have the Boeing Club train show next weekend up in St. Louis area (Queeny Park in South  County - email me, any of you who don't have the details and want directions. I'll scan in the map on the flyer they sent me, to make it fairly easy to find.

Hope everyone has had a good weekend. Prayers for (all of us) those in need.

Blessings,

Evening Gang: I have a feeling that I may be buying everyone supper, breakfast, and lunch.

The show went alright today. It was slower and we had to start packing up early because thunder storms were supposed to be moving in. Unfortunately there were some dissapointed folks but we couldn't take the chance of having the show cars get wet. All in all everyone was happy with our part and we're already planning for next year. Hopefully we'll be able to let the kids ride. One thing we have to do is find a place to set up a continual run for the riders.

Mr. Clark is also wanting to put in a HO layout in the RR building. I may give them a hand with that after I get some of the odd jobs around here finished.

Well I need to check out and get to bed. Mary Ann I have to pick up John at the repare shop tomorrow at 8am.His speedometer is giving him problems. So I'll say good night. I just saw on the weather radar that there is a bunch of thunder storms moving our way. We really need the rain.

As I thought I'm buying.

Good Night All

Not my strong suit either.  You can tell because I didn't catch it.  I see wiring diagrams and codes and my eyes just glaze over, ya know?

Mornin, coffee and a couple doughnuts Zoe

Looking for another nice day, high in the 60's and a few cloud. Tomorrow and Wed. forecast highs 70's, partly cloudy, with some rain Wed. Then cooling off to highs in the upper 40's through the weekend.

JIMCG, Deb's the one who's really busy with meetings and such, not me. I had my time of with a few years ago when I held 7 offices in 3 vet groups, drove the 40 n 8 locomotive, full time job, and did it all for 3 yr. Finally said enough and started dropping some. Now it's home and grandkids that take up most my time, and that suits me better.

That gon was in purrty good shape for it's age other than being bowed down. Wish I'd got the build date while I was there.

HOOPLE, a very interesting pic you got there.

Pdragon, looking at your map, we were just a couple blocks from it. Wish they'ed ansewered their phone, we'd found it then. There used to be a LHS up your way on Universery St., is it still round there

PAUL, Glad the show went well, and hope they get set up for riders next year.

Gotta get going, it's another kid day. Hope ya'll has a gooden

JimRCG - I think we're talking about two different LHS's. I was giving Inch directions to First Hobby in Decatur. I would think that would be a bit of a ride for you. I don't know anything about Standard Hobby - sorry.

Inch - If it's the LHS I'm thinking of, it was just off Univ. Ave. and no, it's not there any more. There are only two LHS's in Champaign/Urbana and neither is close to a railroad LHS but I keep wishing and whining. First Hobby is the closest to me and the closest to a real RRLHS. Great selection of motivepower and DCC control (Digitax, etc) and a good selection of rolling stock and trackage. Also, all are at the best prices I've seen anywhere and great service. They really only lack two things. I'd like to see more of the 'nit-noid' things, you know, parts and pieces for detailing the equipment and the layout. The other is they really don't have anyone really 'into' either railroading nor modelrailroading (so much for my griping). And, manufacturers don't make enough B&M equipment. Just had to get that off my chest!

Morning Everbody.....Its sunny and warm here today posta be even warmer than yesterday...I'll have ham and eggs, toast and coffee please..Looks like Paul is buying...Thank You....I ran trains some over the week end and worked on a couple of hopper cars....I was kinda proud of my self I had 2 Acumate Atlas Trucks with couplers that the "air hose" had came out of.. I put my Bifocals on and my small needle nose and was able to get it back in both of them...I used a drop of super glue and managed not to glue the coupler together and they worked!Man those things are small I used to think they were small in HO but now....I am not happy with the job I did cutting the windows out of paper barn I am working on and I think I am going to redue them for the 3rd time.....Pdragon.....Is Wings n' Rails still there? they use to be a pretty good shop....Does Danville have any shops?......Have you ever been down to Windsor to Coryville station they make a lot of shows and have some good prices they have a web site just Google  Coryville Station.....Well you all have a good monday after the time change....Jerry

Sorry 'bout the confusion, PDragon Oops [oops] - but while on the subject, doesn't First Hobby have ads in MR? Maybe I just dreamt that up.

Time to get back to the paperwCensored [censored]k again. Supposed to be a grand day - up into the 70's today (but then cooling back down into the 40's by tomorrow or Wednesday). Go figure!

Jerry - Slot and Wing is still here. Really got wrapped up in hunting supplies. I haven't been there for years. If there is a RRLHS in Danville, I haven't heard of it. But hey, 45 miles one way or the other would make no difference to me. Have you heard of one?

I tried to find Coryville but never did. I see them at the annual show in Mattoon.

JimR - Yup, First Hobby does do a monthly in MR.

Good afternoon folks:  I’ve been catching up from some days ago. I said a while back that I’d used up over ½ Gallon of sawdust on the scenery since getting active again.  Here’s where it went (and then some since I made the comment)

and

I’ve also mostly built the Rear Range Light.  I put it in place for this photo, but it’s got all the hand rails, the door, the wiring, and of course the painting to do yet.

Dick:

DER JOHN: Cheer up, we have  a big warm-up coming next week, maybe, just maybe, we have seen the last of real cold air.
…Kris just came upstairs to say it will be raining all day Wednesday next week, and 13 degrees C, so maybe you are right again! (That was written March 10th, the newer forecasts are for 20% chance of rain and 11 degrees C on Wednesday.)

Adam:

Hey y'all! does anyone remember this old face?
…Yes indeed, Glad to see you found your way back!  Good news about the new N layout...the more the merrier!

Hoople: That’s a neat photo of the flat car load! Not even a “junker” of a loco either, like I would want to use as a scene on the layout. Smile,Wink, & Grin [swg]

Sue and Chuck & Kathy:  The Butterfly Bushes are, I think, also called Buddleia.

you will have to hang them upside down when they are wet with hairspray.
…I hang a weight on the tip of cone shaped Spirea flowers when drying them (Those small clamps work well, clothes pegs are too light) Makes them shape up and march straight! Here’s some thin ones (I’ve posted these before)  This isn’t a variety that grows a lot around here, I found them only last Fall.

Inch - Flagstop is in Winfield but it's about 23 miles west of Chicago and 9 miles north of Naperville. That's a bit of a commute for me. But hey, if you hear of others.....! Well, I still have plenty to do on my FA conversions, track work, cleaning, etc., etc., etc.

Hey, Does anyone know about a good putty or a type of clay that I could use for around the small pond I'm making so that the banks slope gently into the "water"? Hopefully inexpensive since I can't spend much. (At all. lol)  Also I am thinking about adding "grass" to my layout somewhat soon and I want to know of a good, realistic way to make/buy and put it onto my layout. Any input whatsoever would be GREATLY appreciated. Yeah!! [yeah]
