Colby - is that layout yours, or Alex's? Either way, I think I recognize that as the layout that appeared in Boy's Life magazine (somewhere around the 1950's or 1960's). It's a pretty good layout for operations and really good for scenery stuff. Let me know if you can't find out more info on the layoutJim in Cape Girardea

Good Morning, Zoe - since Colby's buying, I'll go easy on him. Just a cup of coffee, scrambled eggs & toast, glass of Ed's fresh orange juice (Oh, another tank car of it arrived yesterday? Cool!), and yeah, a glass of milk, too. Thanks, Colby!

(As someone wrote it on our office whiteboard yesterday) It's another "beautiful day in the neighborhood" - temp is up to 42 already and supposed to go into the mid to upper 50's today. Think it might have reached the low 60's yesterday, so today could be about like that.

Oh, Colby - the link to your pics album works now. Thanks! Not to worry about those who call our layouts 'Horribly Oversized' - when you get older (like me), you won't need a magnifying glass to check details on your cars or engines (unlike some other scales...hint, hint). Don't forget to get your sleep, though.

It's PAYDAY! (which maybe has something to do with my good mood today - y'think?) Finding myself antsy for my MRR order to come in. Might be making a trip to both LHS's on Saturday to see what else they might have.

My day off has started off with a real low note. Kelly's aunt was killed last night in a crash. The call came in @ 6:15 this am. The aunt was on her way home from Lousianna when she fell asleep, over corrected and head-on crashed w/ an 18 wheeler. Please keep Kelly's family in your thoughts and prayers in this tough time.

Chloe, I'll have a double Irish coffee please.

Don't feel much like anything right now so I'll head for thr roundhouse.

My first morning here and guess what........... the tempermental coffee maker acted up.  Coffee was everwhere on the kitchen counter.  ......but the raisin bran was terrific, just terrific.........perhaps I should have followed a more direct path to the layout.............oh well..

So, what's happening with you all today?  

I have been busy lately, and putting the finishing touches on an article I am writing for an on-line publication and also filling in for two co-workers who have been out sick this week.

The cold temps have finally left us, Tuesday, Wednesday, and today the low temps have been in the 50's and the highs are getting into the 60's, today it is supposed to hit 71 degrees. Might even break a record set back in 1955, we shall see.

And it was a foggy ride into work this morning....

 

So, let's see what's been happening in the Diner since page 77.....

Happy Mardi Gras! If we were still living in New Orleans we would have honored the holiday off from work today.

I was off from work today, but then, I'm off everyday! LOL

Jeff, I'm looking forward to more days like that...being on a permanent "off", or retirement, but I have another 20-25 years to go.

Good Morning All....We had a fantastic day here yesterday and looks like moree of the same today lots of su shine but not as warm as yesterday....I'll have some of that Coconut Banana Nut bread that Ryan ordered and a big glass of Ed's fresh OJ...Please...Thank You....Did't do much on lay out yesterday with my Grand daughter and so here but I did cut out a coal load from pink foam decided hoppers looked better with loads I paint them flat black then cover with N scale ballast then paint again with black paint makes a pretty good coal load....Belated Birthday wishes to Mary Ann......Jim.....Yeah my dumpster diving days are over I have to settle for what I can fish out standing on the ground...My brother brought me a lot of pink foam from dumpster at Habitat for Humanitiy house he was working on....Colby...Hey bud that some good pictures we may have another award winning photographer !!! Once it rains it don't wanna stop, my taurus just blew it's rack and pinyon. I thought it was a hose leak but by the time I was finished(realization of not in my realm of knowledge) I had 3quarts of fluid on the ground. Its gonna cost approx. $900, no layout work for awhile!

Hey Chloe, does your brother need any help breaking legs, I mean cutting wood?

  one handed for awhile left arm is painfull pinchet nerve in neck eill slowly go away has happened before. kathy had surgury wed. for colon looksee. dr says shes fine little polops in large intestene will be going back about every 6 months. it's my turn in march no big deal...................

  we welcome all of the newbies and wish them well and anytime that we can be of help just ask. so far the info on the water is very good and cannot add anything else.

     i keep trying to get to the rrroom and with all that has happened this winter from SNOW to hospital visits we really have't gotton much done. my bridge sleeper onner junior the cat has not been sleeping on the new bridge that is in progress because there is not any posts under it yet and he likes to sleep up high. i've been able to sit in my office and get some work [ i know bad word ] done , also sit in living room with a small table and build trees and some small parts for larger structeres. we are both boing well........saying hi! to everyone that has written to us on the diner log.

I'm a bit concerned.

My wife went to the doctors today.  She doesn't like doctors so she usually puts it off, ya know.  Anyways, when she was in FL. a couple weeks ago she had a real bad cold.  She was quite ill.  Well, she's been back a couple weeks now and the cough hasn't gone away.  The fever comes and goes, but it's lower.  Other then that, she feels fine.  I finally convinced her to see the doc about the cough.  She came back and told me they said she has Whooping cough, and that it's potentially fatal!  They said it's the worst for the first two weeks, and we're past that, but still!  Then they perscribed a bunch of medicine for her, quarentined her, ordered her to bedrest, and sent me to the pharmacy.  I get there and found out that she can't take the antibiotics for this thing because of an interaction with one of her muscular dystrophy meds, it causes this nasty side effect of stopping peoples hearts.  So now she can't take the medicine that makes her better!

I'd like to ask that any of you who know the Great Healer to please pray for wisdom and guidence for her doctors so that they can find the right meds for her.  You could even go big and ask that He'd just heal her.....wouldn't hurt my feelings any!  This is truely in His hands!

Good evening folks: Made a quick trip into the Harbour for gas after dinner.  The News had indicated the price of gas will go up here at midnight, and as Kris was to New Glasgow today, we were running on just 1/8^th of a tank.

Trent:  Sorry to hear about Kelly’s Aunt.  It’s doubly difficult when it’s sudden news like that. Please let her know we are thinking of her, and the family. Praying for them, and the driver of the truck as well.  Just read about your Taurus troubles as well.that’s rotten, but if I listed all the things wrong with our Windstar…  that’s Ford!

Ryan: Yes, that’s probably the one.  I’d forgotten he bit about the baby.  I didn’t break a tooth, so I guess I didn’t get that bit!

…I thought so, but now I’ve got them out of the bag, I’m in two minds.  To get the variety represented in separate lots from Grant Line would cost much more than I paid for the bag.  However, counting up how many of each variety….there’s more of each in the separate lots…so it’s six and two threes, as they say in the UK.

  DerJohn seems to work quite well.  There are several shared names in the diner, so we distinguish...like CapeJim and OZJim.  DER by the way isn’t a Railroad, but the phone exchange we had when I was a kid in England…DERWENT, and the # was our phone # then.  So DER5997 isn’t a loco, but maybe it ought to be.

 

PC: That’s disturbing news about the Whooping Cough.  I daresay that if you were to Google it a bit you’d find that the adult risks are not that dire.  You have our prayers for a complete healing, and peace while that happens.  As you say, it’s in God’s hands.

Nothing much going on here. We lost another cow today. She was old and went down and couldn't get up. There wasn't anything to do but put her down. Not fun, but had to be done. We got here buried after we got back from the Drs.

I'm trying to stay up late tonight. I've been waking up at about 1:30am and can't get back to sleep. I usually go down and watch a video. After about a 1.5 hrs I can usually get back to sleep. Tonight I think I'll head to the basement for a bit and work on the layout.

I'm still having problems with Peoplepc. I haven't figured out how to call there service people and stay online. I'll be darned if I'm going to use my cell and be kept on hold for an hour or so.

Trent, sorry to hear about Kelly's aunt. As with others in here, I'll be praying for her and family (hers and the truck driver's as well), for comfort and peace.

PC, also sorry to learn of your wife's health problems. Yes, will be praying for wisdom and additional options to occur to her doctors (or for God to heal her, which is well within His capability).

Little bit of good news for me - last night I won a Spectrum 44 ton switcher ($36 with shipping) on eBay. It's a PRR one, but will repaint over it with the CAW yellow-orange stripes and color scheme (for those newer to the forum, that's my fictional freelanced Colorado-Arizona-and-Western RR).

Glad it's Friday - weekend's coming, and small group from church is meeting for dinner tonight, and probably going to see "Amazing Grace" movie that opens tonight. The trailers look good, and our pastor filled us in on some of the story and how Newton influenced other ministers and the member of Parliament who is a central figure in the movie. Looking forward to seeing that.

Think she may have cracked a rib coughing, but she feels better this morning.  The few meds they could give her seem to be helping.  Hopefully they'll get the rest worked out today so she can start down the road to recovery.

Gotta get busy on this paper today for tomorrows class.  Good thing it's only 10 pages!

The more I abused him, the more tickets he wrote.   Personally, I didn't care. I came downtown on the bus and the car that he was putting the tickets on had a bumper sticker that said "Hillary in '08." I try to have a little fun each day now that I'm retired. JimCG - How's things with the apartment going?

Not much else to report here at my end other than I did my taxes today. One bonus of being in the military and a NYS resident is I get free e-filing for both state and federal taxes from several sources that the military has teamed up with for this year. I did my state and e-filed it this afternoon... I owe, I owe, I can't go to work though! lol j/k I'll take care of e-filing the federal ones by the end of March when I have enough $$$ saved to pay it off completely. Thank god I have till the 17th of April to file and pay them.

Well, time for me to get going and get some  ... Chloe, how about a nice juicy 1/2# Cheeseburger w/ bacon and BBQ Sauce, a side of loaded seasoned curly fries and a Sprite? Thanks a bunch!
