Good to see you made it Fergie!
- Sorry 'bout that, PC! Thought it was so close that they were gonna win it.
Fergie, good to hear from you (and that DerJohn's got power back already). Any word on Luc yet? And how was your TS party up there, Fergie?
Well, need to hunt up something more for dessert - that brownie sundae didn't quite fill all the spaces for me.
See everyone in the morning! If we don't hear from Luc in another couple of hours, send the hounds out looking for him and Gloria, okay?
Blessings and prayers,

I’ve brought in some of the Date and Orange bran loaf I baked up in the gas stove in the trailer before lunch. No sugar added, so diabetics can have a slice too.
<>Kevin, I hope that answers your question. Fergie is fine, and didn’t lose power beyond flickering lights. The same for Luc too. BTW, it’s amazing how much of the US population we see interviewed on TV don’t know there is any land north and east of Maine! I think it has to do with the weather maps in your papers drawing a straight line north at the NE coast of Maine! <>

Evening Gang: The party at the Green Oaks Hotel was good. The representative of the owners gave a good speach thanking the employees. He said that they decieded to announce the closing 3 months ago to let the staff have plenty of time to find other places to work. Out of the entire staff no one, not even one left, they all stayed. That's loyalty. We got to say good by and thank you to the waitresses that have taken care of us the meany years and I finally got to meet the head chief. After 38 years it was like leaving our home for the last time. Such a great place and good people.
Rob: I hope that your wife gets to feeling better soon. I know that you will take good care of her and the animals.

A yes, I'll have a coffee, 3 sugars and cream please.
I'm new here, so I'll just lay out some news.
Layout building has been delayed. I have most of the track now (not including the EZ track I bought, which I use for floor running) and turnouts. We are painting my room Wednesday so I'll have to wait until Saturday (Busy all Thursday and Friday).
On a better note, my first DCC Sound engine arrived yesterday. Its a Bachmann USRA Light Southern 2-10-2. Runs fine on DC. My DCC controller should arrive sometime this week.
Now the next problem is figureing out which engine I will purchase next. I am thinking a bachmann Southern 2-8-0, or maybe a BLI USRA Heavy 2-8-2 (Southern Of Course) if I can find one.
I planned on getting another USRA Heavy Mike to letter for my Smoky Mountain and Southern Railway. But I also want the B-man Sound and DCC 2-6-6-2, or maybe the Proto 2000 2-8-8-2.
I want a 2-10-0, and the PCM Undecorated Pennsy with 4-axle tender fits the bill (with modifications of course). But of course, it has not yet been released, as it says on the PCM/BLI website.
Decisions, Decisions.

Jeffrey, Very cool pictures your layout has come a long way in just a few months.
I went to the NMRA Div 4 train show last month and picked up 19 K-2 ore carriers for only $3 each. Half of them are kits still in the box; the other half are new still in the box. I think I did very well. The next show of interest is the N&W train show just south of Sandusky, OH on 11NOV07 if anyone is interested in going I can send you the information.
It's chilly up here and that means it's time for trains again, LOL.

I’m sure of the direction, although it’s not what I expected. I thought that these things rotated anti-clockwise. Our bedroom roof faces due south, and about 4:00 am the pieces of 2x4 that act as sort of steps to enable access to the main roof, and are on the steeply sloped roof at the east end of the bedroom, were banging up and down in the wind. They are on metal straps, not fixed to the roof directly. The only way they could act like that is if the wind were due south to lift them. They stopped banging as the wind shifted direction. When we got up, it was very westerly. By this afternoon there wasn’t a cloud in the sky.

Wicked Oh ya. Didn't sleep much as the house shook for 4 hours. These storms do rotate in a ccw manner however the winds do follow the clock if th e low goes right over top of you or to the west of you (Northern hemisphere). Winds started out of the Nor East then slowly veered around the clock with the most intense winds out of the SSE before diening down once they settled to Westerlies.
As always the heviest rains were when the wind was Easterly to Sou Easterly direction. I went for my bke ride this morning, in shorts, it was nippy as the temps were in the high 30'. Several trees were down on the paths.
Anyway another week of Renos!

Hey, did you know that the weather guesser around here is talking about SNOW tomorrow! What's up with that?
HOW BOUT THEM COWBOYS!
Killed them Eagles last night. YYYYYEEEEEEEEEEHHHHHHHAAAAAAWWWWWW!

Good Morning, Diners (and storm survivors )! Zoe, cup of coffee and a donut, please.
Thanks!
Had a bit of delay getting in this morning, as the forum wasn't working (or they were finishing up maintenance?).

PC, they're just keeping you on your toes. That, or messing with you...
Good to hear everyone is in the clear this morning. Me, I have to get going. See you all later!
Blessings,
...and looks like I have the breakfast buffet tab. Zoe, keep me a total. I'll check back later and see what the damage is.
To Go, please & thank you.
Glad everyone made it through the storms. Wish we could get a storm like that...or 2 or 3 in a row. (Ya Hear that Mother Nature?) Critters are calling for their breakfast and I still need to run pay for some hay. Have a great day all. Rob
Hello everybody.
Long day yesterday. Went to train show in Detroit area. We drove to Cincinnati. Had dinner and visited with family there but did not stay for the night in Cincy. Drove home. Total miles of driving for day.
Now I can razz Duke about his choice to bike instead of going to train show. It was a terrific train show. They had good prices on a wide selection of model railroad stuff. Duke really missed a good show! I just love train shows like that one!
At the show, I purchsed two locomotives in never-opned boxes. They are Burlington SD24's made by Atlas in their Silver Series. I'm upgrading. My three older Atlas SD24's will be sold on ebay. I also picked up several decent used freight cars to fit in with some of the things I'm doing on the layout.
Duke, I did not see any messages. Seriously, I hope you enjoyed the day.
Jeff... that was an impressive and dramatic night shot you posted.
Fergie and Der.... Evidently, you got through the storm okay and I'm glad. Now what about Luc?
Happy Model Railroading.

EVERYWHERE LOST; WE HUSTLE OUR CABOOSE FOR YOU
Good afternoon to all, bright sunny day here, 52F. Bringing down the wood today to fill the empty bay of the garage ( one car now ), and another two rows up on the deck for the wood stove in the Family Room. We decided we had better get moving on this task because the weathermen are talking about snow flurries on Friday and it certainly looks like colder weather is headed our way from Canada.
33,000 people lost power on Cape Cod as hurricane force winds belted the Cape and Islands. Another 22,000 lost power along the coastline from the Cape to the North shore near the NH border.
We did fine inland, no problems at all 50 miles from the coastline.
Only one team undefeated now ...the Patriots, what a comeback in the 4th quarter over the Colts!!!!!!
I don't know if any of you guys read the article in the Parade Magazine in the Sunday newspaper this weekend, if not, you can read it online at www.parade.com It deals with Americas railroads, and how people feel about travel via Plane, Trains and Auto. 99% favored more money for trains to upgrade our entire rail systems. A Bill in the Congress just passed last week that would give more money to expand service in four area of the country. Please read the article, and you can add your own comment at www.Parade.com also, just follow the directions.
Later,
Hello Guys its been awhile glad to see some of you are still around. I had to change my name because I lost the other one. My screen Name was Duce.
I havent been on in about a year. I got a job with BNSF so I have been working alot. I hope to beable to pop in more often.
duce
Welcome back Duce! Here, let me welcome you back properly........
Hi Chloe, I'll just have the Nacho's......on Jim's tab!
to the Diner (again), Cary/Duce! Since I'm covering this page anyway, have a beverage of your choice on me! We have some other RR employees in the Diner (occasionally or regularly) - I know Scott B., Bill T. (and probably others I'm missing right now, so my apologies to the rest of ya) are in from time to time, as well as a handful of retired RR folk. What kind of RR job do you have, and for how long? Are you able to get any MRR'ing in, or does your work keep you busy (as Scott has reported - oh wait, that's his job and his new girlfriend, in Scott's case... )?
Grab a place at the table, or if you like the window booths, there're a number of seats with a good view of the tracks, too. But since you've been in before, you already know that, right?
back Duce
Garry Check it again as I sent another one and both went through the forum so if you don't get it again,I will send it through my Email.
OMG! It's Old Home Week!!!
Where did all the "Ol' Regulars" come from?
in a Southern mug, please & thank you.
***Garry, nice going on the new acquisitions from the show. Upgrades are always a good thing.
***Duce, Congrats on the job with BNSF. Any real life RR stories to share with us?
***Lisa, good choice switching to "N"ormal scale. Share some pics of the layout work if you can.
Wife tested her tummy with Mexican food today. Other than still feeling sore form being sick, she is fine.
Went to add water to our tractor tires and one of the stems came right out in my hand. A stream of water shot from the tire. Shoved the old stem back in and thus far it is holding. Couldn't get the other tire to fill at all. Might try again tomorrow, but those poorly designed hose adapters and having the stems on the inner rim makes for a surprising challenge.

lisap wrote:Hey Everyone, Been a long time since I've been around, a lot of family issues to deal with and I had nothing to share on the train front, no time and I got sick of my shed. I had to change scales or give up until I had more room(which could be a verrrrrrrrry long time coming) so I started an "N" scale in my dining room. So far it looks pretty good, I'm mostly sticking to scenery for now as I have my landscaping materials from the "HO". I have a nice Kato Santa fe passenger set(my husband got it for me as an early Christmas gift). So a least I can have something to work on and hubby isn't worried about the space like he did with my HO. I hope everyone is doing well and I'll be in more often now that life has calmed down again.
what a cruel, cruel thing to do to yourself. leave HO for something that requires a Magnifying glass?

Evening all -
Just a quick stop in tonight. Spent both days this past weekend going to the local annual train show. I think the best deal I got, was a combination of 30 back issues of RMC, CTC, Model Railroader and Trains for $6.00.
Well, need to balance the checkbook and save up for next week - start shopping for Christmas Presents.
Take care!
