Lupo,

I noticed that yesterday.  "Ditto" is correct.  The gif is wrong.

If you look up "Ditto" in the dictionary you get this: http://dictionary.reference.com/browse/ditto

If you look up "Dito", you get this: http://dictionary.reference.com/browse/dito

The latter is not correct.

WELL, WELL what much fun with smiley's LOL looks like times way back when the old coffee shop and even the DOS topic were still operational!! so let's stir that pot a bit more:

I have a question about spelling, ( always an issue to create some action ):

this kind of confuses me, as a person whose primary language is not US English, I see a difference between your spelling of DITTO in your posts, and what is on the sign the smilie has to haul:

Sign - Ditto [#ditto]

now this says DITO,

who is wrong, who is right ?? Banged Head [banghead]

take care and stay safe!

Good morning everyone, I have a joyful even this morning, a dentist appointment. Years ago I lost a tooth next to the first molar, so the dentist installed an artificial tooth which is held in place by a partial bridge, one end onto the next molar which as three roots ( very strong teeth ) and on the other side, a non molar that has only two roots and is taking too much of the biting load and is a little loose ( not good ). Soooo, I imagine they will want to do something better...who knows what, but I will find out at 11am. Then I go next room to another Dentist who specializes in gums and roots and all that stuff. I have one deep pocket under another molar way back there, and I guess he wants to see what can be done about that. They take cow bone now ( from Paul's farm I think in Texas ) and somehow graft it, and it causes us to regrow our own bone material to backfill the area around the roots.....ohhhhhh my, does that sound exciting !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

It got down 16F(-9C) here last night, and is only 21F right now. But just wait until next week.....the whole country will be feeling the effects of Winter again, all the way to Jeff's neck of the woods.

TRAIN ROOM: I have an around the room layout under construction, with a layout area of 10.5' X 16'. I wanted to have the 2 ...4x8 tables against the west wall, but I know that reaching across that distance was bad news. The tables were at 16" away from the wall. This gave me plenty of room to navigate around the back side. What I have done now, is make a series of  16" X 32" lift out sections all along this 16' foot section. The east wall is no problem as this is 36" and far return wall to the south is two lift outs also. Wiring should not be an issue as I will have these lift out sections on push button switches for electrical contact.

RYAN: And here is poor Der John running all around his house trying to find his tools, and you have them all the time..tsk, tsk, tsk  RYAN !!!!

Good morning all!

Hot oatmeal with raisons, butter, and cinnamon! A tall coffee too Chloe!

Another beautiful sunrise this morning on the way to work!

Hey RT, that marbles story sure hits home. Thanks for sharing that one in the Diner.

Der John, I found the MIA tool!  Look here....

And with James' new arrival this might be better known as TOOL TIME!!!

Speaking of tools, this is something the misses gave me for Christmas....

It is now nestled snuggly the train room, and it helps to keeping all the tools where they need to be....

Cheers,

Good Morning All,

That coconut topped donut Bill brought in looks mighty good that and some regular from Lucs' batch please Zoe. Another busy day today building gearboxes and trying to catch up on chassis work. After last nights museum meeting I tried DerJohns' tinting suggestions on my water area (not sure if it's a lake, river or ocean yet) and the green fade in the deeper areas does look better. Now to find some envirotex and try water.

Won't get much MRR time in this weekend as I'm off to Philadelphia with the CFO who has a Lacrosse coaching convention. She's driving down on ri and I'll follow Saturday hopefully by taking the Acela out of Stamford. Still deceiphering the schedule so no tix's yet.

Still can't get the Trainboard stuff to upload, will try to get my genius youngest son to help tonight. Time for work - hope y'all have a good'un. CUL, J.R.

Good afternoon guys,

I think i'll have the steak and lobster, thanks.

Well some good news, some of my tools I need to start building my kit locomotive have arrived, I might attack the model over the weekend, we'll see. In other news, i've been promoted to store manager at work (more money, longer hours) Which i'm over the moon about. It means now I'll have more money for my trip to New Zealand next march (2008) Big Smile [:D]

I plan on selling my old US trains soon, and then taking the old benchwork apart and extending it a bit to make room for my new layout, it's bugging me not being able to do anything.

Anyways,

I'm right behind you Der John, worked for 6 hours in train room on some benchwork, plenty tired now. 20F right now at 11pm, with a Dew Point of 9F !!!! That means that if the wind dies down, it could get that low tonight. We haven't see it this cold since the 1st week of December. The weather pattern IS changing however, we will see some real cold weather and snow by late this weekend.

Bon soir mais amis

Good evening ladies and gents.  A light snow this evening, it began just as I finished putting the garbage to the curb (on a gravel road, not really) after my walk. Nice timing!

Has anyone sen my X-Acto knife? Vintage 1980s, cracked cap with brown paint stains? No? It’s not on my work bench, or at any of the other places around the layout where I may have parked it while working.  I need the thing for cutting stringers and posts to detail the wharf that is rapidly taking shape on the newly acquired waterfront.  Wandered down to our local ex-government wharf here on the island to refresh my memory on how it was made.  Easy to reproduce, (fiddly, but not difficult), and I think it will be visually interesting.  I’m having way too much fun on this part of the scenery!.....

Attaboy: I tried to bring in your suggestion for the Ditto Tree, and all I got was a broken image icon (read the dreaded red X for Explorer fans). Then I tried “Open link in a new window and this came up  Forbidden

You don't have permission to access /clipart_tools/images/chainsaw.gif on this server.

Odd eh? Didn’t know I needed permission, but maybe it’s a Home land Security issue.Wink [;)]  Anyway, I figured it would be one of these, as Ryan has so dramatically shown.

Lee:  That SS policy really sucks.  At least as far as I know here in Canada, each person is treated as an individual from that standpoint. (Am I right Luc?; you’ve been at this longer than I have.)

Time to go look for that X-Acto knife again, and check on the retaining wall on the new road down to the wharf. Built stone by stone, and glued with 50/50 white glue and water. It’s laid on a foundation of rock from the driveway representing the shore line on the west side of the wharf.  I’ll take some pics when I’ve got a bit more done, and some paint on the ocean.

Goodnight all, and God Bless. Prayers for all in need of healing, comfort and peace.Angel [angel]

Evening Gang: Well tomorrow it's to the SS office. We have an appointment for 8:30. They are pretty good about keeping these appointments on time. One must have hope.

I didn't have time to do anything on the layout tonight. I did get time to do some on the second mine building. I got the sides and ends put together.

Well I'm off to bed.

Hey all, been busy working on the layout today. Just been filling in under track sections with some thinned drywall compound. Gave the RS3 'Black Widow' a run today. It's geared 21:1 so it's slow but it pulls well. It's a bit noisy, but go figure, it's got an Athearn drive.

I have to comment about your trip to the SS office.

My Father was a Police Officer for 30 years and my mother worked for a State University for 0ver 20.  When they applied for SS they found that there is a "no double dipping" policy for civil servants so they only get 60% of the SS.  That's 50 years of SS payments and the SS is banking 80% (if you add both of their pay-ins and the deductions the SS gets).  I just found out that the Service Group Life Insurance (that every active duty military member pays for) is taxable 50% (thank you President Clinton).  So if your son or daughter in the military dies with a $200,000.00 policy $100,000.00 goes back to the government as taxes, but we pay for the $200,000.00 every month (term).  I need to be in Congress, the voters would love me and my peers would make me go for a ride with a Kennedy.

Good luck at SS office tomorrow Paul. Our office up here is so darn busy that I did all my sign up over the internet at the SS web site. Really an easy procedure, do it all from home.

Dont' forget, your SS and her SS will be reduced by Part B deduction for Medicare. Part "A" the government pays for, but "we" pay for Part "B" out of our monthly SS check. The goverment automatically deducts this amount, so we receive a reduced SS monthly check. You "don't" have to take Part "B", but if you don't, many company retirement medical plans tell you that their rates will be higher per month if you don't sign up for Part "B". We do have Part "B".

BTW, if you ever saw the retirement plan that our Senators and Congressmen and women get, and their spouses, it would make you sick !!!

Hi Gang: I've been around just haven't had anything to say. I'll have what Jeff's having, with a small glass of Merlot.

I picked up a 4ftx8ft sheet of 2 mil pvc sheet yesterday and have a sheet of 1mil on the way. That should be enough to keep me busy for some time.

Ray I haven't had time yet to download those pics of the head frame to the computer. It will probably be after I retire. Speaking of which is in 23 days.

Well it's getting time to check out. Mary Ann and I have to go to the social security office tomorrow morning. I have to get my stuff started and we have to get her on for her draw and medicare. We still have to find a supplmental insurance for her and one that will pick me up when I'm elelgibel for it.

I'll check in later tonight.
